The best time for a New Delhi holidays is during the winter between November and March, when average temperates range between 10-30°C. Delhi's summers are long and uncomfortably hot and the city experiences a monsoon in July and August. There are many international and domestic flights to Indira Gandhi International Airport which is conveniently connected to New Delhi by an express metro line. From other parts of India it is possibe to arrive by rail and coach. Touring New Delhi on foot isn't recommended due to the hostile traffic. Rather travel by metro, bus, taxi or rickshaw. New Delhi holidays: Highlights

A New Delhi holiday should include visits to the city's many ancient landmarks. An ancient Islamic monument, the Qutub Minar, is the world's tallest minaret and it is surrounded by a complex with many restored monuments and buildings. Humayun's Tomb was the first garden tomb in India and is in the same architectural style as the Taj Mahal. Marble buildings, former palaces, a museum and a covered bazaar can all be found within the Red Fort. This large red sandstone complex was completed in the 17th century.

To see the more modern side of New Delhi visit Connaught Place. This circular district contains an astronomical observatory, temples, an underground market, cinemas, upscale hotels and many dining options. There are also numerous museums, monuments and religious buildings to visit. Unveiled in 1933, India Gate, the country's national monument, commemorates fallen soldiers. The Bahá'í House of Worship, the Lotus Temple (shaped as the name suggests) has won numerous architectural awards and is worth seeing.
