Pros:Located in the city center area, a couple blocks from Las Ramblas, it’s location is ideal for those travelers wishing to be right in the middle of everything. There’s a mini mart a few doors down, a Starbucks across the street, as I mentioned a couple blocks from many stores and restaurants. Taxis drive by constantly and there’s the entrance to the public transportation subway two blocks away. The apartment itself is very plain and basic, but if sleeping there is all you need, it does the job. You need to get the code from the staff (they will provide it a couple days before your arrival), use the keypad at the massive front door. You’ll enter into a lobby for the apartments, as well as other businesses that share the building. You can either take the elevator or stairs up to your floor. There on your floor you’ll enter a code into another keypad to get through a hallway door and then another code at your apartment door. The apartment has a small, simple kitchen with a stove and refrigerator, utensils and plates/cups, and a washer, but no dryer, so if you have laundry to do, you’ll need to hang dry it on the provided drying rack. (You’ll also need to purchase laundry detergent a few doors down at the mini-mart.) The bathroom is basic and has a shower (no tub) and a wall hair dryer. They provide a large towel and a hand towel per person, as well as a couple standard hotel size mini bottles of shampoo and conditioner, but you’d probably need more so either bring it or purchase it down the street. We had a issue with the sheets not seeming clean and spoke to the friendly staff on the second floor office which they apologized and had new sheets replaced that day, as well as deducted 1/2 cleaning fee. The manager was extremely friendly and said if we needed anything to ask her. My husband is fluent in Spanish, but she speaks pretty good English, as well.
Cons:I thought the apartment could have been cleaned a little better, the floors seemed a little dusty, and as aformentioned, the sheets had hair in the made beds. The manager explained they use a laundry service and sheets come wrapped in plastic bags. We figured it was just a fluke that the laundry service, whoever folded the sheets, dropped a few long hairs in the set while folding. When they remade the beds they were clean and hair free. The manager also kindly left a bottle of wine as a sign of good faith. as I said, the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating.
