(GW 05/2009) The hotel was built in 1905 on the site of the original Crown and Mitre Inn which dates back to before the Jacobite Rebellion of 1746. The Inn was demolished in 1902 to make way for the existing Hotel which took 3 years to build. it s a grand and elegant building. The Edwardian Style Crown and Mitre Hotel is situated in the centre of Carlisle, adjacent to Carlisle Cathedral, within easy walking distance of Carlisle Castle and Tullie House Museum opposite the award winning Lanes Shopping Centre.
