location

concierge was not very helpful for a family with a 8th month old. my room did not have its own AC unit, it looked like it was a central unit. Setting the system to 60 and still sweating through the night.

location, fantastic price, very helpful staff

nope

I've seen a bunch of negative reviews on this hotel and I simply don't get it. Granted, I didn't have a function here but it seems to be the only affordable hotel downtown with some character. The staff was extremely helpful and proactive. Rooms were great, comfortable beds and quick/efficient cleaning staff. Gave every impression of the four star rating it has.

We liked its location and the helpfulness of the staff. The rooms were clean and attractive.

Yes the breakfast options were not on a par with most B & Bs ...they were very simple with minimum preparation or imagination. We opted for the first time ever to skip their offerings and go out for breakfast.

It is conveniently located in downtown, near wonderful restaurants and the public market.

Good location central to Charleston putting virtually everything within walking distance. Free breakfast, free internet. Wine and cheese for guests everyday from 5pm to 6.

Not really.

Single room with double bed--comfortable but not roomy. Very polite staff with ready suggestions.

This hotel is within walking distances of all the places of interest and good restaraunts and even the main shopping area. The house itself is beautiful and the very friendly staff cater to your every request and make you feel very welcome. We were able to meet some very nice people at breakfast, served in the beautiful dining room, and the delicious afternoon teas on the verandah. We went on the water taxi to The Yorktown at Patriots Point which was very interesting. The harbour tour is also very good.

You will love staying at the Governor's House. The staff is first rate, the breakfast is wonderful, the evening wine and appetizer spread is a treat, and the place is as comfortable as it gets -- you will feel like you are right at home. Our needs were attended to with courtesy and the staff takes the time to help make your visit to Charleston enjoyable and memorable. Our room was very comfortable, though the bathroom is getting a bit dated and would benefit from upgraded fixtures and renovation, everything was functional and the room was kept clean. The mattress was very comfortable. The location is perfect for exploring Charleston on foot. The parking on site makes it easy to use your car when you need it knowing parking will not be a problem when you return. We just loved this place and would definitely stay there again the next time we visit Charleston.

This is a charming historic property located in the Charleston French Quarter. Whatever value that the property itself adds (which is significant), it is the efforts of the innkeepers to provide excellent and personalized service and the quality of the staff and the overall experience that make the stay very satisfying. Will return.

In the heart of the historic Charleston. Walking distance to most sights and great restaurants. Room needs updating, paint chipping and peeling, caulking needed in bathroom.  Squeeky bed improved quickly when we asked.  Wine and cheese a wonderful afternoon delight.  Light breakfast was fine.  Good coffee and available if early riser.

We stayed here 2 nights and our first floor room faced the courtyard. People hanging out there drinking and LOUDLY conversing at all hours of the night. The bed was terrible. Our room was right next to a service entrance, more noise, more inconsiderate service workers banging stuff around - you got it at all hours of the night. Please consider another hotel and do not waste your money at this place.

The location of The Planters Inn could not be more convenient. No need for a car; everything is within walking distance. The restaurant is one of the best in the city; don't miss the coconut cake. The staff is attentive and have an amazing knowledge of the city and its attractions as well as the less touristy dining spots.

Great location and easy to get everywhere in the area. Short on staff so it takes a while to get any thing done. We checked in late and there was only one person working. Some guy that was behind the counter, but in street clothes when out to valet our car and when I went to get my phone from the car, it was gone. Hotel staff could not care less. They couldn't even figure out who the guy was that parked our car.

Prices are average price per night of stay and may not include taxes and fees. "Total" includes our estimate of the taxes and fees. Please verify the total cost on the provider's site before you complete your reservation. Prices and availability are not guaranteed.

Here's why:

We’re not the seller
At KAYAK we don’t set prices, so it’s not possible for us to guarantee what other companies are selling.

We aggregate tonnes of data for you
Our service lets you quickly and easily compare results from hundreds of travel sites at once. In this sense, KAYAK is a search engine and we don't guarantee prices we find.

Why aren’t prices accurate 100% of the time?
Prices on airline seats, hotel rooms and car hires can change frequently. Several people may also be trying to buy the same travel option simultaneously. As a result, you may find on occasion that certain prices are no longer available.
