Registered as a Virginia historic landmark, the Inn opened in 1820. At one corner a 2300 acre preserve in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, it is a four-story brick building with timber framing and is characteristic of Federal style public houses of that period. Meander among the wild flower gardens, swing under a giant oak or simply sit on the hill and enjoy magnificent panoramic mountain views. Separate from the main building, a two room cottage offers guests that honeymoon-like escape. The cottage was originally the summer kitchen for the Inn. Rural Ridge is a four bedroom cottage at the back of the property, great for larger groups or extended stays.
