The Cal Neva Resort Spa and Casino was made famous as the North Shore’s premier hangout when it was owned by Frank Sinatra and the “Rat Pack” during the 1960’s . The Cal Neva Lodge then hosted many big-name entertainers including Marilyn Monroe, Peter Lawford, Judy Garland, and “The Rat Pack”, as well as the Kennedy family . With 200 lake view guest rooms...

The hotel is called the Cal-Neva Resort and Spa. We booked there specifically with the Spa portion of the idea - after a long day of skiing, it would be great to soak in a hot tub. Unfortunately, when we went to ask where the hot tub was, we were told it was under renovation (which we were not told in advance, nor at the time of checking in). As a substitute, we thought of taking a hot bath. Unfortunately we were foiled at this too - the water ran hot and cold and the bath ended up lukewarm. The temperature in the room was also a challenge - putting the heat even on the very lowest setting turned the room into a sauna. Turning it off meant the room was cold.

Our experience with this hotel and staff was HORRIBLE! We ended up leaving after one night, even though we paid for another night. It took us an hour to check in because they had one slow gal working the front desk. We were booked to stay in a 'cottage.' These rooms are AWEFUL!!! We had to trek it through the snow with all of our luggage, up a few flights of outdoor stairs to access our cottage...which was not easy to locate because nothing was labeled. Our floor was wet/damp/cold, none of the light switches worked, looked like bed bugs paid a visit - KEEP BELONGINGS OFF THE FLOOR/BEDS, bathroom window was frozen OPEN all day/night, service by security staff was a joke, could not sleep due to the thin walls/windows/ceiling. We could hear EVERYTHING. Upstairs travelers sounded like they were going to fall through the ceiling. A staff member was supposed to assist us girls in putting on snow chains. This person NEVER showed up. PLEASE STAY ELSEWHERE!!! Or you'll be very d...

The Tahoe Biltmore is a hotel in which my husband and I both feel we were welcomed as family. I had stayed there previously but my husband had only been to the casino when we honeymooned at a famous Lodge across the street a few years earlier. Check-in was easy and welcoming. We were given coupons for a free daily breakfast for each day of our stay. This was a a kind gesture as the 24hr restaurant serves a $1.99 breakfast 24/7. It is a cooked-to-order meal with 2 eggs, bacon, ham or sausage; and toast. Such a deal! What a bargain! We saw a lot of students from Sierra Nevada College eating that same meal. The restaurant staff and management were beyond hospitable. Our room had a king bed and a small refrigerator, just as we had requested. The daily charge for the fridge was $10.00. This fee was waived when we went to the front desk to inquire about adding another night to our stay. This was a gesture of kindness, not policy. We were having too much fun and just had to stay...

We have been enjoying the Mourelato's Lakeshore Resort for many years now. Every July, we descend upon the Resort for a huge family vacation. The ambience, the welcoming environment, the amenities just can't be beat! The Mourelato's family makes you feel like you've 'come home'to their little piece of Heaven. The Rawlins family highly recommends Mourelato's Lakeshore Resort for quick trips or long vacations. The staff is superb!! You won't be sorry!

Unfortunately, we didn't have a lot of time to enjoy the hotel, due to a late arrival and fairly early departure. Our stay would have been better if we could have more time to enjoy the view of Lake Tahoe from our room. Stay here if you want to enjoy all that the lake has to offer.

Very good service. Decided to postpone the reservation that I made on Expedia by a day to avoid a storm in Lake Tahoe. Called Tahoe Inn and had it resolved in a few seconds and avoided any late/cancellation fees. Manager and employees were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is nothing fancy but definitely fulfills more than all you need for short spring break trips to the snow with friends and want to save on housing costs. Rooms are very wide and spaceous allowing for comfortable living and drying of all of your snow equipment. SUPER low price for 2 queens makes it easy to bring living expenses in a group of 4 down to $10/night/person or so; especially since you dont spend much time in your room on snow trips... Rooms did not come automatically with certain small amenities like shampoo and conditioner but its really just by request because they have them all at the front desk.

The rooms were great. More than enough outlets. The 'pet ok' rooms were very nice too. Comfortable beds.

Mandatory resort fee. Don't like it. I don't use resort amenities except for wifi. Especially don't like the $150 non-refundable pet fee. Difficult parking.

The Iron Horse is still somewhat new, and it has all the amenities we were looking for in a ski resort location: Easy access to the Gondola, underground parking, ski lockers, high quality appliances and cookware, great beds, and fireplace. The Iron Horse blended well with the Village and all the restaurants, bars, and activities offered there. In fact, we did not have to drive anywhere the entire four days of our stay. The staff is pleasant and responsive, but the reception experience could have been more pro-active. I probably missed a few amenities because nobody went over all the Iron Horse has to offer. No big deal, because we really didn't want to get into an 'orientation,' but the concierge position could be put to better use.

Beautiful lodging but the website isnt accurate. For example it calls out 4 places to eat the the Northstar Village when in fact there is only 2 (1 sushi and 1 pizza/pasta) places. The village is like a zombie apocalypse. A virtual ghost town during the summer months. I was competing in the Tough Mudder at Sqauw Valley and let me tell you that village was alive with fun, shops and tons of places to eat. I recommend te Hyatt Residency Club for a winter snow wonderland but presently with all of the construction it was over priced for a lack of supporting businesses. Note the Hyatt Residency Club does NOT server food so either shop and cook in the wonderfully accommodating condos or stall at Squaw.

The space was great - 3 bedrooms and 3 baths so perfect for a group of friends with nice high end kitchen. Front desk staff very helpful and courteous. We were definitely off season, so location was a bit unremarkable, but you could envision it in winter or summer as the storybook 'village'. Only downside was other guests staying up late, talking on the balcony and their voices carried up to our floor.

We stayed here while visiting Truckee and skiing in Northstar. It's a very clean, well maintained hotel. The interior design is nice with a mountain lodge feel. The breakfast was one of the best I've had at a hotel for free. The staff was friendly and courteous. A man took the time to hold the door open for us while we were loading in our stuff, even though he was in the midst of shoveling snow. Our two small kids (under 5) liked the hotel, though we spent most of our time on the slopes which was about a 10 minute drive.

Our room had new bedding and the carpet was in good shape. It gave the feel that they made the effort to keep things up to date. It was nice. We really appreciated having a fridge in our room too. The room smelled clean when we arrived too.

The only thing I can think of was that I wished there had been some kind if fruit offered with the continental breakfast.

This is our second stay in 2 years. On the first occasion we had a lovely 3rd floor suite that overlooked the fields to the southeast. The beds were and still are super comfy ! GDW Casino is close to the freeway but VERY quiet. There are two stripmalls in close proximity, one with a Subway sandwich store that is convenient for picnic lunches. On this recent Tuesday thru Thursday stay at GDW casino resort, we had a second floor room with two queen beds. The room was in very good condition and it overlooked the seldom-used pool and garden. Again perfectly quiet. I was leary of being on the second floor because I thought it would be noisy above. It wasn't at all and (being a light sleeper) I had yet another 2 nights of quiet sleep. The airconditioner needed maintenance. Pedro, the delightful maintenance man, was there is 5 minutes and promptly cleaned the filter to restored coolness to the room in no time. The restaurant's staff were very competent and friendly staff. We never had to wait...
