My sister, husband and I loved this hotel. It and grounds were immaculate. Service was great. They brought coffee every morning to our hotel room. We got the impression that everyone was there to serve us. It is on the side of a hill but they had golf carts to pick you up and take you where you needed to catch a taxi. It is within walking distance to town but don't forget your walking shoes (which I did). Can't say enough what a great place this was. They have two restaurants (we only ate at the restaurant by the pool under a palapa). First class food and service. Can't wait to return.

They did not prohibit bringing a cooler on the beach.

AC was marginal, no security box in room.

Definitely an older, therefore cheaper hotel, a little run-down, but the beach and the elevators were excellent.

The family atmosphere was great, the staff were helpful and friendly.

The water pressure of shower left a lot be desired but as long as you were not in a rush, it was ok. The restaurant was closed as the cook had been out for weeks, it would have been nice to know ahead of time.

This is a nice place to stay, close to the beach and many places to eat and drink. The view from the 4th floor was amazing and the waves crash all night.

Proximity to the Play Ropa. The flat screen TV and a fair amount of channels in English. Free internet. Rooms were nice, with a decent kitchen. It would

The kitchen never seemed to be open when we wanted to eat something. They did not have a well stocked bar.

We have stayed here several times over the past 15 years. We are always impressed: by the setting and the building, by the staff and the room, and by the nearby town, Zihuatenejo. The site is a hillside, going down to a private bay on the Pacific. Each room has a private patio with a spectacular view; we have never had a less-than-perfect room. There are a nice beach and a gorgeous pool area. The setting for the breakfast buffet is possibly the most enjoyable feature of a stay at this hotel: the buffet is great, but view of the birds, foliage and the bay are amazing. We always go to Zihuatnejo (a short taxi ride), where we browse shops and find enjoyable meals. The hotel concierge has recommendations and makes reservations at nice restaurants. We keep coming back; we have recommended Las Brisas to others, and they have all reported wonderful experiences. What else can I say?

This was our eleventh stay at this hotel and we will keep coming back. The staff, especially on the beach, is awesome. The hotel is situated on a large private beach, so it is free of vendors and serviced by the hotel staff. The hotel is built into the side of a hill, so there are many stairs to be navigated to get down to the beach. There is a service that will drive guests to the beach if needed. The food is pretty good but expensive. We find it a better option to either walk into Ixtapa (morning excersize, about 1 mile), or cab it (45 peseos) to the local restaurants (Blue Shrimp 49 pesos for 2 eggs, toast, coffee, juice...same deal at Chile Beans) . That compares to just coffee at Las Brisas for 37 pesos. I do recommend this hotel highly. It's one of our favorite vacation spots. Also, we never had any feeling that there was any danger from 'drug gangs...etc. We felt very secure even during our stay.

our first room had black(mold) on the ceiling & tiles. could see a little ocean. mostly roofs. changed rooms,we had to check out at noon, then wait untill 3.00 to get in new room, even though it was clean. this room was better, except the faucet in the bathroom was almost falling off.& the door knob. we were there for 6 nights, took us three days to figure out how to get close to he pool.yes people did go down by 7.00 am & put their towels. Left them all day.So when we discovered that,we were o.k.JUST HAD TO GET UP EARLY & do the same also they let local people come to use the pool for the day ,for a charge.they were families which was .another reason why it was so crowded. food was pretty bad except the breakfast. in the nicer dinning room the food was good, but you could only go their once, with a reservation. . The drinks in plastic glasses were tacky.makes a difference on the taste. The staff were friendly & helpful. The only bar open during the day was by the pool. always a long line....

I stayed 3 nights with my family. Positive: Great location, right on the beach, walking distances to all local shops and resturants. Beautiful beach. Clean rooms, attentve waiters on the beach and at the resturants. I love Ixtapa, just not Tesoro Resourt. Negative: Food was TERRIBLE!! The breakfast was ok but lunch and dinner were so bad. The alcohol drinks were ok, nonalcohol drinks were gross and they acted like I was crazy for wanting bottled water. There is also no air conditioner in the main lobby area and resturant. This was not so bad for breakfast and lunch, but dinner was HOT! We were there in July. Also the day I checked in the front desk reciptionist took my travel website recipt of payment. I assumed all was good. Then on checkout she tried to make us pay $* US dollars for one of our rooms that they said were unpayed. Very much a lie! I had to get firm and make a scene for them to finally contact travel website after 20 min of arguing for this to be straightened out. ...

My husband and I spent 5 nights at the intercontinental during New Years. We were very disappointed with this resort for several reasons. First, our room (ocean view) was very out of date and was definitely not a 4 star room. We tried to remain optimistic because we didn't plan on spending time in our room. The beach and pool were nice. However the main pool was very crowded and full of children. Typically this wouldn't sound like a problem, but the children were allowed to use any water toy in the pool they wanted...including WATER GUNS! Spending any time near the pool could mean getting sprayed by a water gun or hit with a toy. The food was awful. There was only one a la carte restaurant that was open while we were there and the food was pretty bland and boring. The buffets were pretty bad. We ended up eating most of our meals at the restaurants across the street or at the marina. We will definitely not return and will think twice about staying at another intercontinental resort.

More thoughtfully developed, first rate and tastefully contained, Ixtapa is a welcome relief from your average coastal resort town. We have a group of 10 that have stayed at this hotel for 4 years, but this past February 2012 will be the last time. Rooms never ready at check in. Air conditioning didn't work and the shower didn't work. Spoke with the front desk about these problems at least 9 times in 3 days. Finally the evening of the 3rd day they fixed one of the problems. The food has also gone down hill in the 4 years. No variety and poor quality. Service in the restaurants POOR if you're not hispanic. We will be staying at the Sunscape Dorado Pacifico on our next visit to Ixtapa.

The all inclusive drinks were not made with real fruit juices. Subs like Tang were used for Orange Juice. The food although good didn't have much variety and by the end of our stay we were going elsewhere to eat. The beach is beautiful but the current is very strong and not recommened for swimming. The hotel was very clean and the staff was helpful especially the first part of the trip. There was very loud music playing late into the night 3 out of the 7 night we stayed. Thankfully we brought ear plugs. Most likey wouldn't stay again but was worth the week to explore the area.

We could see the improvements made from last year with the all inclusive restaurants. The food is very good. Service around the pool is second to none. Allehandro was our waiter all week. We seldom had an empty glass... except when they ran ran out of beer 3 times! Remember folks with all of us from the midwest.. especially Wisconsin we're a bunch of beer fans.. as opposed to Bear fans! lol The pool staff really makes your day around there. Alberto, Himer, Lisbeth, and Bianca keep everyone entertained and brighten your day. Hope to be fortunate enough to return next year!

Loved staying here. It is a family based hotel, so expect family hours. Pool bar closed at 6PM. not a huge resort, but a few high quality restaurants. Better than most resorts I haves stayed at in Mexico.

Prices are average price per night of stay and may not include taxes and fees. "Total" includes our estimate of the taxes and fees. Please verify the total cost on the provider's site before you complete your reservation. Prices and availability are not guaranteed.

Here's why:

We’re not the seller
At KAYAK we don’t set prices, so it’s not possible for us to guarantee what other companies are selling.

We aggregate tonnes of data for you
Our service lets you quickly and easily compare results from hundreds of travel sites at once. In this sense, KAYAK is a search engine and we don't guarantee prices we find.

Why aren’t prices accurate 100% of the time?
Prices on airline seats, hotel rooms and car hires can change frequently. Several people may also be trying to buy the same travel option simultaneously. As a result, you may find on occasion that certain prices are no longer available.
