Only ten miles separate downtown El Paso and its airport. El Paso International Airport is close to I-10's Exit 25 making it easy for anyone to reach. The airport has a main terminal with two levels, and the upper level is divided between the East Concourse and the West Concourse. Passengers will have no problem finding their gate due to the organized structure.

El Paso International Airport has regular service to many U.S. cities including Albuquerque, Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Lubbock, Minneapolis, Odessa, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, San Antonio, and San Diego, and then also offers direct flights to Chihuahua and Mexico City, Mexico. Next year (2008), the airport celebrates its 80th anniversary. Few people realize that it was Charles Lindbergh who visited El Paso and urged the city to create an airport. The city listened and the airport is growing steadily. In fact, plans to build a new training center for NASA are underway.

In 2006, El Paso International Airport saw close to 3 ½ million passengers. Close to 150 flights use the airport every day for both arrivals and departures. The airport is located around five miles east of downtown El Paso. Two taxi companies and the public bus company are right outside the lower level of the terminal making it easy to find transportation from the airport to downtown. One thing that passengers should be aware of is that the airport does not have any smoking lounges. Like many of today's airports, El Paso International Airport is strictly a non-smoking building.

Directions

El Paso International Airport is located to the east of downtown El Paso. Drivers can head west on I-10 and take Exit 25. From this point, signs lead directly into the airport grounds and finding the parking areas is simple.

I-110/Route 54 is another option. Drivers will come either north or south on the I-10 heading to the I-10 and then follow the directions found above.

Finally, drivers can take Route 375 south or north to Montana Avenue. Follow Montana Avenue west and it leads right to the airport entrance.

Main Terminal

The lower level of the Main Terminal is open to the public. Here passengers and their friends or family will find a variety of stores and restaurants in the area known as La Placita (Public Area), check-in desks, a waiting area, car rental agents, and other services. The back portion of the lower level has elevators and escalators to take passengers to the security checkpoints and gates.

Upstairs, security checkpoints are directly in front of passengers as they come off the elevators or escalators. To the left is the hallway leading to the West Concourse where Gates A1 through A4 are located. The West Concourse serves American Airlines. To the right is a much longer hallway that leads to the East Concourse. Here Gates B1 through B11 are found. Gates B1 and B2 handle all flights for Delta. Gates B3 through B6 are reserved for all Southwest Airlines' flights. Gate B7 serves US Airlines. ExpressJet flies from Gate B8. Gate B9 handles all Continental flights. Frontier flies to and from Gate B10. Finally, United Airlines flies in and out of Gate 11.
