I just returned home from a seven day stay at this resort --It was a fabulous vacation--the closeness of the beach (Megans Bay walking distance) the cleanliness of the resort --the staff --day trips--the spa--the pool-- all top notch I will definately be a return guest. The little general store there just opened on Friday and I was impressed with the owner and the stock --I found member services helpful, accessable, and friendly the front desk crew was also top notch as was the housekeeping staff. They have a spa on site which has just about everything you could want from a spa. The tennis courts were open and the pool was absolutely grand! I would reccomend this resort to anyone who loves the water and all the activities it offers.

The rooms are very spacious, and very clean. Even nicer than they look on the website. The grounds are kept with quality. The beach is beautiful as well as the scene to and from the hotel. Very secluded and private a great way to get way and just relax. The food and drinks are excellent. I would recommend Carambola the next time you travel to St. Croix for business or pleasure.

I really enjoyed myself at this hotel the only thing the hotel needs to work on is internet and cellular phone service. This hotel is so far out in the bush its hard to get reception also their needs to be more lights on the road heading to the hotel besides that the hotel is excellent.

Beautiful views and not in downtown proper, but close enough to get there fast.

Minimal dining options and bar closes way too early.

This hotel is excellent considering what I have seen in the Caribbean. Do not expect a Hilton or Marriott style property. The views and landscape well make up for it!

We went in June/July, and it's great for not feeling crowded.  The beach is a protected area, so there is a lot of wildlife (iguanas, ducks, chickens, sting rays, fish, etc.).  It's great for snorkeling, but not that great for swimming (there is a lot of seaweed).  We did not eat at the restaurants as we found them to be pricey.  There is great food right around the corner ($5 taxi ride) at Red Hook (also good shopping).  In riding around the island, we were glad we spent the extra money to come here instead of the other area resorts.  Apparently, a much needed upgrade to the hotel will happen this year.

This was our first vacation as a couple. While it cost more than we would have liked, it will be hard to recreate such a glorious vacation. The hotel as our daughter described it was a castle that a princess lived in, and my husband made sure I was treated like a princess. The restaurants were wonderful and full of delicious foods but be prepared to pay. We would highly recommend doing all inclusive as we had to think and plan each meal out, it would have been more relaxing had we done this. The beach was well staffed, clean sand, and lounge chairs that they had soft towels to lay on and each one had a shade for protection if needed. The pool was way too cold and the hot tub was filthy. There was not anything for nightlife at the resort but we traveled nearby to the other resorts for music and entertainment. It was something that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

The Hospitality and friendliness of the people and the staff.

The rooms were clean, but not enough items for like coffee, or making coffee , they had coffee makers, but no filters, or coffee packets in the rooms.

The site is a bit off the main roads, but the view was very nice. Office hours were 9 to 12am, however, to get assistance in the mornings sometimes not available. The motel says continental breakfast, the office where it was suppose to me I only seen it open for breakfast once. Pool was dirty and the walkways where tile and slippery you have to be careful going down to the lower rooms. You could get hurt if you are not careful.

Basically hotel was less than anticipated. We know what a 2 star hotel is but this shouldn't be rated that high.

photos are very misleading. In poor general condition, in definite need of repair. No bedding for 2nd bed. (shouldn't have to call for bedding)

Basically we knew the availability in Charlotte Amalie was tight do to Carnival and it drives prices up. However, this xxx room should never exceed xxx, even in the Caribbean.

We really enjoyed the Divi resort overall, but there are some minor areas that need to be addressed. First, the things we liked: #1 was definitely Esmeralda - she was amazing and helped us out when we were booking our excursions and renting a car. Give that girl a raise! - Kizzy, Dave, Scott (bar tender by the pool during the day), and the other gentleman at the Tiki-Hut - you all were wonderful!! They all had great personalities and were a pleasure to talk to. - Caribbean BBQ night - the food was good, the entertainment was good (YOU NEED MORE OF THAT!) - The view from our room was absolutely stunning. - Basically the entire staff was fantastic. - Great snorkling and non-motorized sports. Things that need work: #1 without a doubt is the entertainment - there really wasn't much to do after dark and we ended up drinking and falling asleep earlier because we couldn't find anything to entertain ourselves with after 10pm. - The amenities are ok, but a lot of them are tired and need to be...

We really enjoyed the Divi. Everyone there was amazing. From Esmeralda in the gift shop to the guys outside at the Tiki-Pizza Hut. We thought the Esmeralda was fantastic - she really helped us out when we were planning excursions and renting a car. Kizzy was extremely nice and very pleasant to talk to as well as the guys at the Tiki Hut. Dave and I can't remember the other gentleman's name were hilarious and kept the drinks coming. Scott down by the pool was also amazing and really has a great knack for making drinks not taste like alcohol hahahaha. The house cleaners did a fantastic job and mopped our floors everyday. The only problem I had with the room itself was the bathroom. It had a cracked sink and the shower stall door was broken. We're not high maintenance or anything but since it was our honeymoon, we figured that we should have received a better room since we paid for a premium room. Our view however, was completely stunning. The other small complaint I have is that the ...

we are time share owners at the Elysian Beach Resort (2 weeks) and go down every year . the management lacks any knowledge of just what vacationers want and expect when they arrive and stay there. 1st. they only have 69 rooms to rent so they are always overbooked. are weeks are deeded ,so we own the unit for 2 weeks every year sat to sat. this year we arrived on a sunday night and were told that they had put someone in OUR room and they would try and put us in another room. we got our room on monday. This properity used to be a RCI 5 star gold crown resort but no longer. it would be lucky to get 1 star. 2 resturants on prop. and both overpriced for what you get. if you don't have a car you are stuck there unless you take cab's everywhere, very expensive. if going to the USVI go to the Westin in St. John, cost more but worthevery penny

I'm an owner and spent my 3rd week here at the end of October. The rooms are very nice. We have a 2 bedroom, both of which are roomy with adjacent bathrooms and balconies. The Living Room/Dining Room/Kitchen are in the middle of the unit, providing additional privacy between the bedrooms if needed. I do recommend renting a car. I had no problem with driving on the left side (just remember to stay close to the left side of the road). The steering wheel is situated as in mainland US. There are plenty of taxis to get you where you want to go, but a car may be more economical. We paid $80 in taxi fees for 4 people to go out to dinner. We only did it so we didn't have to be concerned if we drank. The beach at the Cove is nice, but you need to be careful of sea urchins. To the right of the dock, there are rocks near the beach that you need to get over to get to where it's sandy under the water. This is where I had an encounter with a sea urchin. It's sandier on the left side of the dock. ...

Stayed in Nov of 2009.The setting is beautiful and the villas are exceptional. Well equiped and spacious. Food is very expensive but with the kitchenette we were able to fix some meals in the room. The location is secluded and private but that can also be a problem with transportation. Suggest renting a car but be prepared to drive on the left side. With it being still under construction going back and forth to the hotel will be more converient in days to come. There will be carts to transport guests. In some of the eateries the menus were very limited but the portions were huge and very tasty. We will definitely go back.

Sand Castle is great if you want to get away and avoid tourist congestion. It is located outside the nearest town (Fredericksted) but within walking distance (it took about 15 minutes to walk to town). Their beachfront is great for swimming and snorkeling with several rock formations close to shore. I saw an incredible amount of awesome sea life while snorkeling including a sea turtle, pufferfish, and lionfish.   The staff was very nice and accomodating and the rooms were nice. We were actually upgraded to a garden view room upon arrival which was a nice surprise. Rooms have tv, fridge, mini kitchenette, bathroom, king size bed, basically everything you need while you're there since most of the time is spent enjoying the beautiful St. Croix weather.   I would recommend getting a rental car to explore the island unless you sit on the beach every day. As I said the hotel is a bit isolated. Cabs have reasonable prices but it adds up over the duration of the trip.   Overall Sand Castle w...

We landed on the island after dark... Driving to Fredricksted after dark is really really creepy! The directions on the website was spot on, very easy to find! Fredricksted is definitely the old part of the island. The hotel has security guards and cameras so we felt very safe! The hotel stuff was really awesome too! The hotel restaurant was very good but closed Tuesday and Wednesday of our stay. Bruno was awesome! :)  Ok here is my complaint.... Besides the sketchy neighborhood.... Our room was SMALL. It was on the 3rd floor (very narrow stairs). We had a queen size bed which took up 90% of the room. Plus side was there was a TV, microwave, a few dishes, and a small fridge. The bathroom had a nice shower but other than that was fairly small as well. We weren't in our room much so it wasn't that much of a concern BUT I never dreamed it would have been so small! Also the wifi only worked in the downstairs lobby. We toured every part of the island and this beach was BY FAR the calmest...

The Marriot Frenchman's Reef and Morningstar resort are the best vacation properties near Charlotte Amalie. The views are amazing. I recommend paying a little extra to stay in the main tower and get an ocean view room. The resort is saafe to wander around any time of day or night. There are plenty of places to eat within walking distance,  but are a little spendy. Expect to be asked to sit through time share presentations. They're not pushy about it, but they do benefit from you attending them. There are plenty of neaches, snorkling, boat tours etc that they'll help you with if you are looking for adventure. Charlotte Amalie is full of duty free shopping. Great deals on on jewelry, perfume, tobacco and alcohol. Allow a long enough vacation to see all the sights.

I haven't been to the F.R in decades but all thoughts of going back have been removed by all the negative reviews. Looks like a 50/50 proposition. I can't understand why SOMEONE in management would allow these problems to continue. I guess we'll go to the Turks.
