I reserved an economy car in advanced and when I went to Hertz to get the car, I was told that they were all out of economy cars. I had to pay additional money to upgrade to the next available grade car since they wouldn't upgrade me for free. Really unhappy about this switch and bait tactic.Reviewed 8 Nov 2023

What could be better?: Provide a vehicle that is actually equivalent to the one reserved. When a 4WD drive car is reserved, a 4WD should be provided. The car I rented was dirty. Hairs on upholstery and coffee foam on interior door handle. Additionally pressure was low in one tire and they tire didn’t hold pressure after we put in air.Reviewed 2 Jan 2022

The agent did not go over the car and when I got to it, there were tons of scratches etc. one of the other hertz people said to ignore it, that it was already noted. Also was told that I’d get credited for the gas I prepaid for if I went under 100 miles. I did and barely used gas and no credit was given. Disappointed.Reviewed 2 Dec 2021

Pros:Relatively cheap cost. Quick pick up.Cons:Counter clerk was a bit rude and snippy at first. Car was not very clean (had dried coffee/juice on the console and steering wheel, etc.)Reviewed 7 May 2021

Pros:I received a near new Pacifica mini-van that made a long trip much more pleasant for both my wife and me and, oh yes, our three cats too. We had it for one week as this was a one way trip from CA to ID. Pickup and drop-off was very easy, smooth and quick. I also opted for the insurance and no gas fill up upon return. Oh yea, unlimited miles included.Cons:It was pricey but seeing as how it was one way and from California it was expected I guess. Not sure if the vehicle was checked over from the previous renter but I found what looked like that someone had keyed the left side and there was what looked like a scrape on the same side on the sliding side door. At drop-off I had to fill in a form stating that it was there when I picked up the vehicle and since it was in underground parking I didn't see it until I got it home.Reviewed 4 May 2021
