Iowa City is a college town and was the first capital to the state until it was moved to Des Moines back in 1857. Coralville Park and Devonian Fossil Gorge is just the place for visitors to explore fossils that are hundreds of millions of years old, and the Museum of Natural History features a collection of birds and mammals as well as a five-hundred-million year time-line of the area.
