The geography of Lorne with its steep forest-clad ridges skirting the bay has inspired some quite remarkable modern architecture. This architect designed, multi-level retreat for two is no exception. The main timber supports feature in the design and the warm timber hues of the flooring are set off against crisp white walls and cathedral ceilings. Numerous, huge windows fill the interior with light and surround the occupants in nature, in both a literal and spiritual sense. Folding doors separate the galley kitchen from the living area, which opens onto a deck with a gas barbecue. An airy mezzanine bedroom also has its own balcony. The décor offers a bit of Indonesian spice to the modern interior. Casual furniture, planters and a queen size, Indonesian-made sleigh bed and settee contribute to the exotic ambience.
