The Trojan Horse Lodge is located in Ludlow, Vermont on route 100 just 1/4 mile south of Main Street. After a day of skiing, adventuring, or exploring you can relax in the back yard, the common lounge, or in our poetry corner. Our century old carriage barn is outfitted with six bunks in each of our three rooms. The bunks are solidly built and have firm, twin size mattresses. We have two large modern bathrooms with hot showers, a self service kitchen, and satellite TV with VCR and DVD player in our common room.
Ludlow is in the heart of the Black River Valley. Out-door recreation abounds year round. Okemo Mountain Ski Resort, great for all abilities, is just 3 minutes from the hostel. There are 7 other ski areas (Killington, Pico, Bromley, Stratton, Magic, Ascutney, Suicide Six) within about 45 minutes of the lodge, offering a wide variety of conditions, terrain and trails. The local golf course, Fox Run, doubles as a cross country ski area. There are other popular cross-country ski areas to the North and South of the lodge.
The surrounding hills and forests, lakes and streams are good for fishing, swimming, canoeing, hiking, camping, and cross country skiing.
There are many craft, antique and gift shops in the area. Fine restaurants with a good variety of fare are plentiful in Ludlow. The Village is just a short walk from the lodge. During the summer there are concerts in the park featuring some of the local talent.
We have 'trip sheets' for many cycling rides in the area available to our guests. The rides vary from 20 miles to 140 miles. Hikers can access the Appalachian Trail at 3 points within 30 miles of the lodge.
Mountain bikes, roller blades, skis, horses, snowmobiles, canoes, paddleboats, and automobiles can be rented in or near Ludlow.
