Maison Caramel is a luxury bed and breakfast chambre d'hotes in the heart of the French Alps, less than 10 minutes drive from the ski slopes of Paradiski and the Vanoise National Park. The 19th century former farmhouse is on the edge of the quaint village of Landry, surrounded by apple orchards and meadows. Near the Route des Grandes Alpes, just opposite the GR5 national footpath and within the Peisey-Vallandry ski resort, Maison Caramel is an ideal base for skiing, cycling, walking and mountain biking.Maison Caramel offers 5 en-suite rooms with a balcony or shared terrace in the main farmhouse, and 4 en-suite rooms in the luxury ski chalet-style annexe. The house combines alpine charm with a quirky modern edge. There's lots of old wood, antique furniture and vintage finds and plenty of space for guests to relax in (two large sitting rooms, both with log stoves, a dining room, several alcoves, a sauna and pretty terraced gardens with a sun deck and mountain views). Breakfast is a hearty affair with fresh bread, organic yogurts and jams, fruit, cereals, and a daily changing special. Guests can also book in for dinner there's a 3-course set menu with the emphasis on delicious home cooked food using organic and locally sourced ingredients where possible. Nibbles and drinks are served on the terrace before dinner in good weather, or in front of the fire in winter.Free Wi-Fi internet access is available in public areas and there's a free minibus service to the ski lifts for guests staying in winter on a full board basis (breakfast and dinner). There's also a free village shuttle bus during the season. It's a great spot for both winter and summer sports the lifts in Les Arcs and La Plagne (Paradiski) open in July and August as well as December to April, and are just a short drive away. There are lots of walks and cycle routes from the door, as well as a 25km riverside cycle path 1km away. Maison Caramel is 7km from Bourg Saint Maurice and the Route des Grandes Alpes (alpine tour route for cars, cyclists and motorbikes), and the GR5 national footpath passes by across the road from the house. The nearest train station is in Landry, 10 minutes walk from the house. It is served by trains from Paris, Lyon and Chambery. The Eurostar stops in Bourg St Maurice, just 10 minutes away. Renovated and run by the Spanish and English owners, Alvaro and Samantha, they ensure a friendly welcome and excellent personal service. They are happy to advise on walking routes, arrange ski lessons and childcare, or pick you up from the train station or airport (extra charge). The couple have a friendly dog, Ned, who you'll see around the house and garden. If you have a dog allergy, let them know in advance and they'll keep him out of your way.
