Pros:If you are looking to shut off from the world in luxury, this is the place! I would stay 100 more times if I could. What a magical experience!
Pros:I cannot think of another place like this. From the rooftop in the morning, you are above the treeline and can see such a variety of birds. In a remote location like this, the possibility of seeing more rare/uncommon species is much more likely. Having a rooftop perch allows you a comfortable vantage more often found in observation towers in national parks where you're unlikely to be able to stay as long as you like. Nighttime as well is incredible, being so far from cities like Cancun, the stars are so plainly visible. Breakfast was very good, service were all very friendly. Location so close to Chichen itza was perfect, we were leaving just as the first tourist buses arrived and I believe we didn't get there until 9am or later. When you go to Chichen Itza do buy a bottle of water as you go in, they are not sold within the park.
Cons:The room was hot when we arrived, as to preserve energy the AC is not left on while the rooms are unused. Personally this was not at all a drawback, merely to be expected, but if you are not someone ok with spiders etc I think it may not be as enjoyable. It is the jungle after all. It is a VERY long drive if coming from Cancun Int'l airport as we were. This was not a reflection on the hotel, just something to be aware of. Had we to do it over again we would have been sure to leave earlier in the day and take time to hit a restaurant and bank in the city before departing. It was a bit disorienting driving these roads with very few exits at night. You MUST get pesos before heading out as there is nothing between the airport and the toll collection point. We got by trading dollars for pesos with a passing car, but this was again our error, something helpful to know in advance for other travellers! The lagoon behind the hotel was being serviced and was empty at the time we visited. No matter, it did not take away from the beauty of the location. Beds were just ok, rather hard, but when you're out and active all day you sleep so deep it really doesn't matter.
