The pool was large and warm with a hot tub connected. There was a spacious and complimentary room for our hockey team to relax in. The staff were very responsive and professional.

The Doubletree exceeded my expectations from start to finish. We were welcomed by Tricia, with the offer of delicious warm chocolate chip cookies, and she checked once we had reached our room to ensure everything was right with our room. The room itself was spotless, very comfortable, and quiet. Beds were made with ample pillows and fluffy warm duvets, bathroom was well equipped with Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries, microwave and mini fridge worked well and were clean, and our stay was a delightful experience. Staff was unfailingly friendly and courteous and it didn’t feel put on. The Lamplighter gift shop was super well stocked and the ladies running it were wonderful; Freighter’s Bar and Restaurant served excellent food and their staff were friendly and efficient; the welcome center was well equipped with all sorts of visitor information pamphlets and the lady running that was kind and knowledgeable. All in all, my favorite of the many hotels I’ve stayed in. If I had to make one recommendation though, it’d be to have more/brighter room lighting. We visited in December and the days are often gray and short, so the mellow lighting led to a bit of eyestrain for me while I sat to do a jigsaw at the desk. Maybe ceiling lights? Idk. Overall, though, excellent stay and when we travel agsin Doubletree will be my first choice💕

Pros:Breakfast buffet at adjoining restaurant shuts down much too early for a weekend IMO. Would put and star on the experience to last brunch like hours

Pros:Proximity to the water
Cons:Noise level being that it sits directly under the Blue Water Bridge and directly off the water were lots of freighters pass by blowing their loud horns. Then again, I didn't mind it personally. It gave the trip character. But if my goal was to sleep in, this would not have been a good choice.

Pros:Every member of the hotel staff was pleasant and helpful. Loved the cookies. So appreciated having a special "feather free" room upon request. Room was spotless and bathroom lighting was great. Our room didn't have the greatest room(it overlooked the parking lot) but the dark out curtains worked great. Bed was very comfortable. The view from the restaurant & lawn was fabulous!!! Nice gift shop, too. Enjoyed our stay very much!
Cons:The limited menu choices for lunch & dinner in Freighters.
