Founded in 1932 this four block long downtown neighborhood still has a Gold Rush era feel, complete with boardwalks and cobble streets. During the day, visitors can shop at the numerous stores, examine the more than 50 historic buildings or escape the heat by taking a ride on a riverboat. Once the sun goes down the area boasts some of the best live music in town. Festivals are held throughout the year, two of the best being the Pacific Rim Street Festival and the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee. Check out the Visitors Center at Second and K streets.
