The Parador is located in the former Convent of San Francisco, in 800 meter distance from the historical centre of Santo Domingo de la Calzada. After the whole building complex has been remodeled, the Parador now is located in the former pilgrim hostel. Because its location and the undoubted cultural values, the Parador is the ideal starting point for walking and hiking in the open nature. The building is formed by three clearly different segments: the church, the workshop-museum and the hostel. In this third segment is the Parador located after the building has been remodeled. Because the Parador is located in the heart of the Saint James Way, it is an ideal starting point for tourism in the open nature and rural areas, and visitors can do sports like golf or hiking, or even enjoy the ski resort of Valdezcaray. The decoration of the Parador is full of contrasts, with reddish copper tones and bluish grays, with paintings with religious themes and modern graphic arts. In the restaurant, we constantly thrive to recover the roots of the cuisine of La Rioja and look for new possibilities, with simple presentations and tasting menus to share.
