Scranton Vacations

Located in the Lackawanna River Valley, Scranton began its humble beginnings between 1776 and 1865 with the area initially inhabited by the native Lenape Tribe. Isaac Tripp was the first known settler who built his home there in 1778, which still stands in the Providence section. Places of interest include the Electric City Trolley Station and Museum, dedicated to the glory days of the Electric City trolley cars; Grey Towers National Historic Landmark and Catlin House, both of which are architectural wonders well worth a look. Tourists who love Zane Grey Westerns might want to stop by his former home for a look, and magic lovers should check out the Houdini Tour and Magic Show. Also located in the nearby Poconos is the Dorflinger Glass Museum and Wildlife Refuge with its fabulous collection of crystal glassware that was once popular with Kings, Queens, and Presidential First Ladies.
