The Gatehouse Country Inn Bed and Breakfast was a barn, stable, icehouse and carriage house until the famous bandleader and musician, Fred Waring, renovated it into his elegant summer home back in the early 50's. The ballroom sized Great Room, where breakfast is served, overlooks the private flagstone courtyard and historic round icehouse, now a small antique shop. Each bed and breakfast rooms are individually decorated in antiques and feature a private bathroom. Situated in the quiet, quaint village of Shawnee on Delaware, which sits on the beautiful Delaware River, The Gatehouse is minutes from the 70,000 acres of national parkland, known as The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Hike, canoe, kayak, ski, golf, horseback ride--each season offers it's own entertainment. 2 hrs from Philadelphia and 1 1/2 hrs from New York City.
