The Hotel Residence with its ancient and elegant building is located in the middle of the Old Town of Taranto, close to the church of the same name built from 1373 to 1573. It is surrounded by very important historical artistic monuments such as the Sanctuary of Madonna della Salute, the musician Giovanni Paisiello's home , and Palazzo Gallo dating back to the XVIII century and connected with the historical wedding of Maria D'Enghien, princess of Taranto. It is constituted by one only block located between the central Via Duomo and the famous Ringhiera on the Mar Grande - Jonio Sea.The HR was created through an accurate restoration of the ancient unit connected with the church of S.Andrea degli Armeni of medieval origin, on Hellenic and Roman pre-existent elements belonging to the ancient Greek Acropolis, that you can still see in the underground.The XIV century building was restructured at the end of XVI century, and during the XVII century it was enlarged but it still preserves the original structures including the underground with its ancient Fogge (barns), the cisterns and the shafts dating back to the Greco-Roman period as well as the medieval period. Some of the original XVIII century floor can be still seen inside the HR and its rooms.The HR has 8 wonderful rooms - single, twin-bedded and double, with a third bed option. All rooms have air conditioning, mini-bar, cooking cabinet, satellite TV, digital safe-box, bathrooms with stall shower or Jacuzzi, hair-dryer, direct phone and direct internet.
