Look to the east of Calgary and you will gaze upon endless views of prairie farmland. Look to the west and you will see the gorgeous outline of the snow-capped Rocky Mountains. Look around the city itself and you will find one of the fastest growing cities in North America, with an ever expanding city skyline fueled by the booming oil and gas industry. The growth has not dampened the friendly "Stampede" spirit of the city, as Calgarians welcome thousands of visitors every summer to the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth: the Calgary Stampede, where one get a glimpse of the western heritage in this relatively young and modern city. Also known as the gateway to the Rockies, day trips to the mountains are a must, but be sure to come back into the city for a great meal and a night out on the town!
