Rome, Georgia is a quaint yet liberal town of 35,000 people, comprised of a cute downtown area with restaurants, coffee shops, and shopping. Antebellum and Victorian homes make up Rome's five historic neighborhoods, which are nice to drive or stroll by. Other features of Rome include parks, a minor league baseball stadium, and a historic courthouse with a period courtroom. Berry College is the main academic establishment in Rome, founded by Martha Berry. Besides being a historical and educational city, Rome has also accommodated such blockbuster films as Remember the Titans and Sweet Home Alabama. In addition, Rome welcomes independent filmmakers in hopes of one day establishing a film industry in the town.
