The staff was very friendly, the bed is huge for a queen size bed & it's a very comfy be. Close to all major areas.
The wah room, the bathtub isn't very clean. There's some black (I believe it's mold or mildew) stains on the sides & the shower curtain needs to be replaced. Other than the bathtub/bathroom issue it's a great hotel!
Clean, great breakfast, a little bit of a retro feel, hotel-quality inside, but easy access to car outside. Pool was a nice amenity, with hot tub, steam room, shower room.
Wifi was weak and unreliable. This is not acceptable in any hotel these days, especially when I had one of the higher-end rooms.
pool and hot tub
Staff were great and good size rooms. Mattress was super comfortable.
Disappointed steam room not working, hot tub not working properly.
The room was clean. The pool area was great
The room had a musty smell to it and we opened the windows and it was better
Old facility... Dirty carpets... Not a family friendly hotel... Very disappointed with my stay.
Close to highway. Convenient if you are just passing through.
As a single woman traveling alone I did not feel very safe here. Just walking around the hotel, I ran into many rough, drunk men and I felt uncomfortable. No terrible experience or anything but I mostly hid in my room with the door locked.
Bed was very comfortable
Great desk area but too low bulb of or not enough desk lighting & easy accessible electronic charging capabilities in the desk area, which is very important these days. There were two maintenance items, but when reported, was taken care of by desk perr
Clean enjoyable pool area was great! food excellent and good service in restaurant
advertised for bath robe but was missing ?
Requested a drive up room and the front desk indicated that it would cost $10 more, I agreed but they did not charge me.
I have stayed here before, some of the rooms are nice like 103 that I stayed in...there are some awful rooms that have needed renovations for sometime. Ask for rooms that have been renovated in the last decade
Our room 103 was fine \ good. During anotherstay in another room it definately needed upgrade.
On arrived, room was cold, although the heater under window was running. The issue was, heated air blew directly into the curtains like filling a baloon, & not into the room. Had to turn the heat much higherto keep warm. Bathroom floor was also freezing.
Front desk personnel were great. Obviously right on the ball.
Very rundown and uncared for. Although this hotel has never been great, it is in the worst shape I have ever seen it.
Room was shabby, the window did not lock, but they had screws loosely keeping it 'locked' and the cold air blew in like a storm!
This hotel had the only available space at the time.
The room walls were paper thin and transferred the sounds of the adjacent rooms. The noises made it impossible to sleep. On one side there was a coughing man on the other a snoring person. Horrible experience.
We were looking for an inexpensive place to stay while on an overnight trip to Thunder Bay, Ontario. I selected one of the 'Secret Deal' hotels for the first time and was happy when it turned out to be my first choice anyway. I got it for 55% off! Cool. The only drawback for the whole experience was when the rear-door of the room was opened, on two separate times, cigarette smoke from the hall inside the hotel was sucked into our room. I just left the doors open for a bit to air-out the room with a cross-current. Good deal. Good buffet dinner, too. Thanks!
Hotel room was smelly, floor had stains throughout halls and room. The room was unclean. Room rates were very expensive for the quality. Front desk made a mistake and told us we were paying for 2 nights, then informed us that we had been undercharged, when we asked for a refund because of their mistake, or new room (that was clean), they refused. Do not let the lobby mislead you, the hotel is a dive. Local calls need a $*deposit. Security is sketchy too, with several exit doors left open to the public 24 hours a day. I did not feel safe in this hotel (especially since there was a murder in the hotel a few weeks before I stayed there). I also did not feel like a valued customer. With more impressive hotels within very short walking distance, I would advise you not to waste your time or your money.
Terrible. Customer service from the front desk was awful, the rooms were smelly, dated, and moldy. The diner was closed at wierd times. Another family member was staying in the same hotel at the same time and her bed was peed in when she got in it. Staff arguing about what you paid and how. I would never recommend this property to anyone, for any reason. This hotel is not cheap! Horrible! There is nothing positive to say about this hotel. I have stayed in many Travelodges and I have never been to such a dump. There are many hotels in Thunder Bay, pass this one by!
The room was on the first floor with in-house access but it also had an outside door which made me uncomfortable. The bed reminded me of a trampoline. The room was clean but the carpet was not vacuumed. Towels were rough and there were no extra towels or pillows. The main dining room was closed for dinner and breakfast. The coffee shop (open for dinner and breakfast), was adequate but noisy. Desk staff were well trained and we did appreciate the immediate free shuttle to the airport. Overall, I would try another area hotel.
