Tuscaloosa, Alabama is the fifth-largest city in Alabama and has a population of just over 80,000 people. The city was named after a Chocktaw Chieftain whose name was Tuskalusa. Since Tuscaloosa is on the Black Warrior River, it is fitting that Chieftain Tuskalusa translates into "Black Warrior." Tuscaloosa is the economic and industrial center for Western Alabama and has a number of companies that specialize in healthcare, commerce, and education. Tuscaloosa is known for being the home of the University of Alabama, so there are a large number of college students frequenting the city' restaurants, bars, and other attractions. Visit historical homes and gardens, view works of fine art at a museum, or just enjoy the sights and sounds of the South on your next trip to Tuscaloosa.
