Conveniently located in the political heart of Washington, DC, this full service 11-story Capitol Hill hotel occupies a full city block. The Capitol Hill Hyatt Regency is three blocks from the US Capitol and about the same distance to Union Station. You can really get around DC by using the Metro with it's subway station scattered through out the city. The Hyatt also has a tour stop at its front door so you can catch a day or night bus tour. There are several 'Bike Share' stations in a 3 block radius. It's a nice way to see DC. There are not too many affordable hotels along the National Mall but this can be one of them if you know when to visit DC. There are always cheaper hotels to be found when Congress is not in session because unlike other vacation cities, it's actually cheaper to stay in DC during the weekend or a holiday. The Article One Grill has some great food but can be pricy for some, especially those with families. Breakfast or lunch for one on the average will run you about $15 to $25 with tip and dinner will run about $25+. Try the West Wing Deli next door for great sandwiches made with Boars Head meats an...

The rooms, depending upon the time of the year, can cost up to $400. per night. Additionally, we paid over $35. per night to park our car. Internet costs an additional $12. per night. No free breakfast is included with the room cost. Basic breakfast for two was about $40. per day. Early check-in? No way. Exercise facilities? Yes, but an additional $14. per day.

I got to listen to the 2 bathrooms on either side of me and the bathroom above me flush all through out the nights the entire week I stayed there. Every time the person who left the room went out their door it caused the mirror on my wall to bounce. This was the cheapest built hotel room for the most expensive price.

The Holiday Inn Capital turned out to be one of the cheapest made, higher priced hotel I've been at lately. I heard the toilet flush in the 2 rooms on either side of me and the room above me my entire stay. I got to hear little kids talking in the room next to me and the people as they walked down the hall. Whenever the person next to me went out the door it made the mirror on the wall in my room bang against the wall. And parking in their garage was an addition 38$ per day.

Great Location!

The ROOM!!! The room was the size of a walk in closet located on the 5th floor. The bed looked like someone had taken a nap on it and there were old sight seeing brochures on the desk.

There were no condiments at the coffee bar and the drinking glasses were dirty!

Location was perfect for the goal of our trip. Staff was excellent!

Not really. Having stayed in a hotel in downtown D.C. before, the only concern is that parking is off-site,I was aware that that would be the case -- off-site parking can be a worry. The attentive staff alleviated any concern about off-site parking.

Decor was beautiful, service was attentive and professional, and breakfast in the restaurant was on point, delicious. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go visit. Views were awe inspiring. Met friends for dinner at restaurants that were in the area and that was on point too. Overall, the hotel was perfect for the goal of our trip.

The hotel is ideally located for seeing many of the main attractions & walking distance from Union Station , even with luggage. The rooms are of a good size & well presented.

Not a lot of dining or retail outlets nearby.

The staff were all very friendly & accommodating.Value for money this hotel is excellent. Our room was like new with quality bathroom amenities.A nice touch was to be served complimentary wine in the reception foyer each evening.

Staff , Mr Clayton Smith manager ; gave us everything we asked for ! and ' Blair ' She's ' The Best ' ! As well at the front desk . Also the Door Men ( Greeter's )! All were very nice , warm and professional !

D.C. needs to help get the homeless residents a nice place to stay .... Street greeting of out right filthy vulgar language was fascinating but , out right deplorable !

We took Our two toy Poodles with us along with Our teenage Daughter too ....We all stayed in the same room ( room number 303 )Plenty of room . 3 beds great T.V. & good street view .

The suite was spacious and very comfortable, the breakfast was excellent, the staff in all departments was wonderful.

I cannot think of anything negative at all about this hotel.

This hotel is a gem inside the capitol hill neighborhood. With a great indoor pool and hot tub, big breakfast buffets, friendly service, and spacious suites, it is ideal for a family trip or extended stay for business travelers.

Lock up your valuables. Had my room robbed by staff member while I was out, and the management couldnt have cared less about it.

You would think that an Irish hotel would be hospitable but not the case with Phoenix Park Hotel.  The doorman/bellman, Charles, was mean and rude. Was spitting angry with me; literally, spit was flying out of his mouth. All over a miscommunication about parking. He started yelling at me as I entered and followed me into the lobby still verbally abusing me. I was traveling alone, so after my run in with Charles, I didn't go to bar as planned, instead I stayed in my room afraid to cross his path on the way.  I immediately emailed the hotel from my room and the next morning reported the incident to the front desk staff, asking them to please make sure the manager saw my email. They assured me they would make sure he saw it.  The general manager, David, has not replied to my email so he either doesn't care or his staff didn't share the email with him.  I visit DC often but will not return to the Phoenix Park.

Short review: Hotel rooms are very small, staff isn't reliable, rooms are clean and in good condition with a good location, and they had the most comfy beds I've ever slept in. Good if you plan on spending almost literally no time in your hotel.  All-in-all, this hotel is just fine. Nothing spectacular, the staff is not attentive and the maid was kind of rude, the room was extremely small and the tub didn't drain correctly. No counters in the bathroom (with 4 people was a nightmare), no dresser space and limited hangers in the closet (that would be fine if the room was a bit bigger, but many times we were stumbling over things.) However, I will say that the beds are the best hotel beds I've slept on, and all 4 of us had 2 pillows with extra in the closet if we needed. Since we spent most of our time out of the hotel, it was fine that the room wasn't 5-star. We had 4 adults in the room, and I wouldn't want to have stayed in there more than an hour or two a day.  The hotel didn't have ...

I picked this hotel because of it's proximity to Union Station and the Newseum, where I had to attend an event. My room was clean and comfortable and the staff was cheerful. The breakfast was much better than any free breakfast I've had at comparable places. But you do have to leave the hotel and walk around to the other side of the building to get it.  The big disadvantage, which I encountered on the way to my event, is that because it's a small hotel, there are no cabs around. If you have to go to somewhere in formal dress (heels!) you will not find a taxi easily and should ask them to order one long before you need it.  If you are in any sort of rush, you'll be frustrated by the fact that the staff is small, dealing with multiple travelers, and the wait for a cab is loonnngg. They are kind, however, and that goes a long way with me.

There was a very friendly staff. The breakfast buffet was an excellent way to start the day and there were choices. Sometimes the breakfast room was a bit crowded. Location was very close to metro stop and sights. Nice neighborhood.

Prices are average price per night of stay and may not include taxes and fees. "Total" includes our estimate of the taxes and fees. Please verify the total cost on the provider's site before you complete your reservation. Prices and availability are not guaranteed.

Here's why:

We’re not the seller
At KAYAK we don’t set prices, so it’s not possible for us to guarantee what other companies are selling.

We aggregate tonnes of data for you
Our service lets you quickly and easily compare results from hundreds of travel sites at once. In this sense, KAYAK is a search engine and we don't guarantee prices we find.

Why aren’t prices accurate 100% of the time?
Prices on airline seats, hotel rooms and car hires can change frequently. Several people may also be trying to buy the same travel option simultaneously. As a result, you may find on occasion that certain prices are no longer available.
