The Hydro is under new ownership. The new owner has invested very heavily in the refurbishing of the hotel both inside and out. The once-tired hotel, which benefited purely from its excellent location, now has rooms and facilities of a very good standard. The hotel now also benefits from the recent addition of a swimming pool and a gymnasium. (GW 10/2008) It is a traditional Victorian hotel dating from 1876 and looks very quaint set in the hillside. This hotel is located in a quiet side street 1 minutes walk from the main street and about 5-10 minutes walk to the Lake. It is also one mile from the railway station.
