Driving time from London or Edinburgh is about 3-4 hours. Whichever direction you approach York from you will arrive at the outer ring road. Go onto the ring road and take the shortest circuit to the A1079 York - Hull junction. Take the turn off signposted York A1079 and then drive along this road for 2.4 miles, until you see the old Bar Walls at the traffic lights. Take the right hand lane, go straight on with the bar on your left (signposted Walmgate access only). 500 yards down Walmgate turn left on a one way system and you will then see St Denys Hotel on your left. The residents car park is on the right hand side of the Hotel. By Train From London, Peterborough, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Edinburgh and Glasgow by Great North Eastern Railways; from Birmingham, Bristol, the West Country and South Wales by Virgin Cross-Country; and from Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds by Regional Railways North East.
