FAQs - booking Bermuda flights

  • I’m travelling to Bermuda to visit Horseshoe Bay. Which airport should I use?

Horseshoe Bay is a particularly popular attraction in Bermuda. Fly into the main international airport, Bermuda L.F. Wade International Airport, for easy access to this attraction, which is on the south coast of Bermuda. You can then use public transport or a taxi to reach your final destination.

  • Are there taxis available at L.F Wade International Airport?

You will find plenty of taxis available at the airport. Taxi rates are set by the government, so it's easy to budget your trip into town ahead of time. The rate for one to four passengers is around BMD 2.75 (about GBP 2.15) per mile, with a BMD 5.15 (around GBP 4.00) minimum. If you're travelling with five to seven people, it costs roughly BMD 3.50 (approximately GBP 2.75) per mile, with a BMD 6.45 minimum (about GBP 5.00).

  • What direct flights are available from the UK to Bermuda?

There are direct flights to Bermuda from the UK, operated by British Airways. These tend to operate at more popular times of the year, such as around the long school holidays. If you want to travel at a quieter time, most flights from the UK to Bermuda operate with at least one stop, usually somewhere in the USA.

  • Are there buses at L.F Wade International Airport?

There are public buses that stop at L.F Wade International Airport, but there isn't space for luggage, so these are best for anyone who is travelling light. If you're travelling in a large group, there are private minibus services available from a number of different companies, including Bermuda Explore and Bee-Line Transport. However, you'll want to book these before you arrive.

  • Which airline should I fly with from the UK to Bermuda if I want to connect in the US?

There are various airlines that fly this route. If you want quicker transfers from the US, it may be best to fly on American Airlines into Miami or Delta into Atlanta; you’ll then be under 3h away from Bermuda.

  • Can I hire a car at L.F Wade International Airport?

There aren't any hire car companies available at the airport or anywhere else in Bermuda. Instead, if you're hoping to get around the island on your own, you can take a taxi across The Causeway to Hamilton Parish. On the other side of The Causeway, you'll find companies that allow you to hire bicycles, motorcycles and mini-electric cars. Bear in mind that these cars are very small, so you won't be able to fit large suitcases.

  • What visa do I need to travel to Bermuda?

It is not necessary for British passport holders to get a visa to enter Bermuda, but they must provide proof of accommodation. It is possible to stay for up to 90 days visa free in the country, and your passport will need to be valid for the duration of your visit.

  • Can I get a fast track for my flight from the UK to Bermuda?

If you depart from any of London's Airports (LON), Bristol Airport (BRS) or Manchester Airport (MAN), you can usually book Fast Track to get through security faster. L.F Wade International Airport also offers a Fast Track service for arriving passengers through Immigration and help you get to your ground transport.

  • Which Bermuda airport should I fly into to visit Hamilton?

Book a flight into the main international airport in the St George's parish on Bermuda. L.F. Wade International Airport has easy access to the capital city of Hamilton, as once you have landed, you can just hop into a taxi to take you to the city.

  • How can I get from L.F Wade International Airport to the Hamilton Ferry Terminal?

The main ferry terminal is in Hamilton, which is around 30 minutes from the airport. From here, you can take ferries to Warwick, Paget, the Royal Naval Dockyard, and Southampton. Taking the ferry between these destinations is often faster than travelling over land. Remember that tickets need to be purchased in cash.

  • Do I need a car seat in Bermuda?

You won't need to have a child seat in Bermuda. If you prefer your child to use a child seat, consider bringing your own, as they are not commonly offered by taxi companies. If you plan on hiring a small vehicle in Bermuda, bear in mind that some companies don't allow passengers under the age of five, and car seats generally won't fit.

I'm a larger, athletic guy (6'2", 260lbs powerlifter) and I found the seats incredibly uncomfortable with minimal leg room, especially in a window seat. Now, I full understand that being smaller may change my view but even if I was 80lbs less, my legs would be the same size and I was sandwiched between my seat and the seat in front of me.

I'm a larger, athletic guy (6'2", 260lbs powerlifter) and I found the seats incredibly uncomfortable with minimal leg room, especially in a window seat. When checking our bags at the Virgin Atlantic counter, the employee told us that we should go to Delta because we needed to verify our passports and our names. Fortunately the employee organizing the line stopped us and asked why we didn't hand over our suitcases. He sent us to another line and told the employee that we already have the passports verified in the reservation. She understood and received our suitcases. In London they have a general waiting room, where you stay until the gate number of your flight is announced. KAYAK informed us the gate number hours before the airlines did. Just like the flight to London, the legroom is too small. abusive for a flight of so many hours.

Great experience overall. Check in at Austin was congested as they only have about 6 check in kiosks, one was broken, and there was a lot of Spring Break travelers.

Bathroom broke, had to rush to board because of late exit of previous flight

Space and comfort was good. Staff could have been more helpful and friendly.

Flight was on time, the crew was personable & professional, & the plane arrived early which was nice.

Boarding started almost 20 minutes late with no explanation. Then the take off was delayed by 15 minutes with no update or explanation from the captain which was very stressful because I had a connecting flight with a very short layover. The The flight tracker on the screen at my seat was for a different flight and the QR code for the menu did not work. I asked for Sun Chips which were shown as harvest cheddar flavor on the website but the ones they gave me were salsa and I'm allergic to tomatoes and I couldn't eat them. The flight to Tulsa was okay but there was no Wi-Fi or entertainment on board which would have been nice to know

I liked that the planes brought me back to NYC safely, but I could have used a friendlier crew.

I appreciate the crew and their hard work. In Atlanta, the ticket counter had 1 woman to do all the work. She was amazing. People weren’t happy they had to check their carry on roller bags, but she handled them well. She was cordial and worked quickly to get the passengers boarded.

Pilots concern for safety was excellent. Flights were pretty much on time & bags made it too. Food was decent for airline food. For some reason Delta tagged me for extra security when I hold a Global Entry/TSA pre-check #. At connecting flight at JFK because Delta didnt honor my pre-check # we nearly missed our connecting flight as we had to wait in line for 45 minutes to get through security. Really Delta!!! Secondly, we were not notified by Delta's partner airline KLM that our flight from JFK to Amsterdamn was cancelled until the day before oue scheduled travel date. We had no idea Delta re-scheduled us until me made a call where we were on hold for 30 minutes. Delta did reschedule us but we lost upgraded seats we paif for. Of course ths extra money for the upgraded seats was not returned. Really important - Delta customer service doesnt know how Customs works at JFK if you have a connecting flight. The wait time to get through Customs on 10/4/23 @ 1700 was 60 to 90 minutes & then you had to go through TSA security again where the wait time was 45 minutes. If we didnt have Global Entry no way we would of made the connecting flight. If your travelling through JFK off an international flight with connections better have 3 to 4 hours between flights. Delta agents told us it only takes a few minutes. Some flight attendants were awesome & others really didnt want to be there but that is pretty much with every airline.

Great flight- smooth, nice crew, nice clean aircraft, departed a little late but arrived 10 early.

It was listed on my ticket as Finnair but there was no indication that the flight was Finnair. In fact the number was even different. There were no employees there until exactly 2 hours before so we had to wait in line at Iberia and hope

Sorting on line would have been appreciated Onward information on flights missed No ability to get seating arranged before we got to gate Very unfriendly at gate

The flight was Finnair but there was no indications anywhere that the checkin was for Finnair also. There was no one to ask. I think at a minimum they should list the code shares so people don’t stand in the wrong line for an hour.

I booked the flight with Finnair, which made the arrangements for downloading a boarding pass unnecessarily complicated. I wouldn't do that again. Instead I'd book direct with AA.

Flight ok, but me and other two passengers didn’t have connection with the entertainment in our seats. So, no movies, no games, no music… for 9 hours. The crew just told us that there’s nothing they can do but I noticed during the flight that there were empty seats, so they could have offered to us to change seats. Customer service could be better.

Had a nice flight to London on BA will fly with them again in the future

Finnair cancelled my flight 12 hours prior to leaving for Helsinki. They stated there were mechanical problems. I had to scurry around to find a new flight that would meet my needs for arrival in Helsinki. Luckily I was able to find alternate transportation through Lufthansa/United.

I’m very disappointed, to fly into an airplane for 10 straight hours, and not having a TV even though when I put the ticket I was told that I will have entertainment for the TV. Very disappointed.

Helpful steward. Allowed me to move to some empty seats and I was able to get some sleep. He also had milk for my tea. Americans don’t realise that cream or half and half ruin tea.

40 minute delay before take off after boarding flight. Bright lights throughout night flight due Issues with light panels. In flight Entertainment nonfunctional

I booked this flight using JetBlue points and I was just so happy. The plane was so clean, I had every need met. Thank you!!

One of the crew members, a male complained about my bag being too heavy, which I felt was really unnecessary. I am disabled and would have carried it myself if I thought it was going to be a problem. In addition the landing was rough because everyone gasped in unison which it touched down.

Need a 2nd round of water for a 4+ hour flight

Great crew. Smooth flight that was on time. Boarding is a disaster as usual. Bought more room seat and was Grouo A. The flight was packed by the time I got on. TVs did not work as usual

no wifi and the aircraft was very old with tiny 4” screens.

Did not wait long for wheelchair and attendant to arrive after checking in. Wheeled down to plane Was greeted with a smile when entering the plane Choice of snacks was very limited to 2 items. Seats are uncomfortable. My butt was sore after the 1st hour of flying. Needs better cushioning at seats.

There were weather issues and coding problems whatever those refer to, but JetBlue, for two days in a row was unbelievably late. Several hours late, resulting in almost no sleep for passengers like me.

Our actual Flight was great & smooth but it was delayed for 4 hours and Jetblue weren't able to accommodate us in the earlier flight. That was Awful. I lost work/clients because of this delay

The flight itself was fine.. the customer service was amonst the worst I’ve seen. When booking my flight, I selected my window seat as I always do because when I’m flying alone so I can rest against it without worrying about falling asleep on anyone.. Then when it came time to check in, there was no record of my seat selection and the only window that was left cost me an extra $74. I called and they said there was a glitch when I booked the first time and there was nothing they could do about it.. Meanwhile the only reason I was flying JetBlue was because I had a $50 credit from the last awful flight we had that was delayed for four hours… So it actually cost me more to use that credit. Never flying with them again.

Seriously, not displaying departure gate until very last minute is awful. Specially when you have to take an elevator and then transport to go to the sub-terminal. That’s awful in such a busy airport as Heathrow. And I cannot choose seat on this flight because it’s run by British Airways, even entering locator code.

Somehow I got “offloaded” even though I had my boarding pass and was in transit Food is horrible Staff were nice and cheerful No headphones were provided on 11 hours flight

The staff were very helpful with lots of refreshments on offer. The toilets were clean. The seats were comfortable and entertainment was good. No complaints, it was excellent.

The main flight was OK but the second flight was chaotic with delays

amazing! they were so kind and allowed us to sit on empty seats so we could stretch our legs and sleep good. Food is amazing as well plus dessert in the middle of the flight!

All the British airways staff were very helpful and friendly. Every thing was very smooth running from checking in boarding and arriving 40 minutes early. Which is a brilliant start to your holiday.

Overall it was good but not great. The aircraft was an old and seats didn’t recline in business class unless you kept playing around with it.

No nice at all, delayed and I lost the connection over xmas

Food was terrible. Flight attendants OK. Only saw them at food service. Other than that they paid no attention to the passengers at all.

On time flight , great service from crew , comfortable and enjoyable

We paid to have overhead carry-on baggage. When we got to the gate we were told that our carry on bags would need to be checked and go below because the flight was full. Notably we were nowhere near the last people to board and about 30 other passengers also had to check their carry-on bags. Other than that the flight was fine.

Very bad plain although I paid A business class ticket I was stuck in a stiff fixed seat without any entertainment or Wi Fi for 5 hours I will never ever book a flight on British airline.

Self check in Kiosk did not recognize that I had prepaid for my luggage. This caused a 40 minute delay even though I had my British Airways email receipt for the prepaid luggage.

Crew were very friendly and helpful. They explained to us in detail the delay in our takeoff due to the storm that rolled in from Belfast and did their best to make up the time. Always great to fly BA!

Staff were very helpful. The free WiFi for messages was also very useful to keep in touch

Crew was more interested on looking at their phones than welcoming passengers during boarding.

The crew was very attentive and kept busy serving a variety of treats!

Terrible. Missed my flight to final destination because of delayed British Airways flight. Had to spend 12 hours in airport and $1500 for new plane tickets

The crew on board were all very pleasant and happy to help. The flight had the old business class seats. The departure board in the business lounge did not update and kept on saying ' gate open' but never said boarding. When I got nervous about the departure time and walked to the gate I was told off rudely for being late.

Offered vegetable curry when it was actually tofu which I don’t care for.
