Located in the district of the same name, Erding is a town in the German state of Bavaria. With great culture, beautiful scenery and an abundance of annual festivals and events, Erding holidays are a great way to enjoy that authentic Bavarian experience. With great things to do in and around the town, and Munich within easy reach, it's no wonder Erding is becoming a popular destination for visitors to Germany.
Erding is serviced by Munich Airport, just outside Munich. It is easy to get to Erding from the airport, as Erding is now connected to Munich's overground train network. Alternatively, bus and taxi services are available. You may also wish to hire a car while you are in Germany. The best time to take an Erding holiday is between March and May, before the busy summer. However, if you want to visit for Oktoberfest, you'll have to book for late September. The time zone is GMT+1.
Erding has a long history, and there is lots of this history to explore in the town. The Landshuter Tor (or Schöner Turm) - the only remaining city gate - is a good place to start. Originally one of four, this impressive Gothic tower was built in 1500. Head to the Pilgrimage Church of the Holy Blood. Located on the outskirts of Erding, it has hundreds of years of history, with beautiful Stucco decorations and a cruciform crypt from the original building, before it was reconstructed in the 17th century. For great exhibitions of art from across the ages, the Erding Museum is the place to head to. Erding is also famous for its Erdinger brewery, one of the largest wheat beer breweries in the world. Erding holidays wouldn't really be complete without a tour of the brewery and at least a taste of the beer!
