Advance car rental doesn't answer the phone
Pros: it was cheap.
Cons: Since the rental agency is located offsite from the terminal, the agency offers a shuttle service that ferries customers. When we arrived at the pick up location for shuttle, the direct phone for calling the shuttle would only say that the agency is busy, no one picked it up on the other end. Attempting to call the Advantage office directly just goes to a voicemail for EZ rent a car for some reason, and the 1800 number doesn't have an option in the phone tree for shuttle service or contacting the Fort Myers office. Luckily, the shuttle appears to run on a regular 30 minute schedule and eventually showed up to collect us and several other travelers. On the third day of my rental, the check engine light came on, again, the 1800 number doesn't have an option in the tree to report minor issues, only report accidents or to schedule a rental, so no help. I left a voicemail on the local office number even though it still identifies itself as EZ rent a car. Further issue is that I had a 7:15am return flight, but the Advantage only opens at 6am, I tried contacting the Airport to see if they knew anything more about shuttles, but few options in that phone tree would take me to a customer service representative. Finally after talking to some one at the parking ramp, they directed me to call a separate number for the "GT booth" at the airport, not sure why that isn't part of the phone tree, they didn't have any info, but were at least courteous enough to listen and connect me to a taxi service that I could hire in the morning for my return journey. What I only learned upon returning the car at the drop off, is on a little parking sign, was that the shuttle service starts at 4am, running every 30 minutes, I coincidentally dropped my rental off right at 5:30 when the shuttle showed up to collect 2 other renters who were waiting, too late for me since I already had hired a taxi. The rental agreement I was given had no information about returning, and Advantage needs a phone line that is answer/voicemail returned.

Advantage in Ft. Myers
Pros: The rate was great and drop off was fast and easy.
Cons: The cars could be kept up a bit better but totally understandable based on Advantage being a value choice.

Cons: Not being able to pick up the car in the terminal, and the VERY infrequent shuttle service. Also, they never picked up the phone when I called from the shuttle pickup site, and the answering machine was full. Never, never again will I rent from Advantage. The hassles drastically outweigh the cost savings.

Pros: Price. Great value
Cons: back seat had stains on it.
