Pros: This place is not flashy or super rich, But there is something excellent about this place. May be the views / location / pleasant staff - can't say what. Will be my first choice if I visit Yosemite again.
Cons: Pool was closed for maintanance. Kind of disappointed Caz its summer and my 9 yr old wanted to do swim.
Pros: Early breakfast
Pros: It was so charming like a beautiful log cabin, I believe I counted 4 Old brick fireplaces in the lobby and another relaxing room. It was decorated to match the 1879 decor. The rooms warmed up very fast when I turned on the heat. Staff was great !
Cons: Everything was perfect
Pros: The staff was nice and the hotel felt like a cabin.
Cons: Rooms were extremely small and location was about 10min drive from town. We would have preferred to stay in town.
Pros: The style and the decorations are what I like mostly.
Cons: The rooms seems a little bit smaller.
Pros: The place is a ranch in the mountains. If you like a quiet evening looking at the stars while drinking a beer, this place is it. Wish I had stayed at this place more than 1 night. Will definitely like to go back again in the future.
Pros: Unique style, peaceful country location.
Cons: Never could get the wifi to work.
Pros: We reached the hotel at 9:15 PM; restaurant closed at 9. They still made food for us. Went to room and sheets were not changed. Receptionist spent 40 minutes cleaning the room when since cleaning staff was gone. Strong desire to keep guests happy.
Pros: Staff was great. Restaurant was amazing.
Cons: Could not sleep in due to construction of their expansion. Walls felt thin and could hear people everywhere m
Pros: clean rooms, comfortable beds, good location
Cons: It felt almost like a bed and breakfast without the big breakfast. It was a beautiful room but we felt we had to be so careful and so quiet because you could hear your neighbors.

A terrace and a garden are other highlights, and rooms offer up nice touches like Egyptian cotton sheets and premium bedding.
Cons: Would not like some of the front rooms, we were in the back.
Pros: Location. Size of the room. Walk in shower. My overall experience was affected primarily by the noisy tenants above!
Cons: It wasn't the room itself. Very impressed. Our unfortunate experience was upstairs noisy neighbors up most of the night. I was awakened several times!
Cons: Poor wifi......
Pros: right downtown in walking distance to everything
The young man working when we checked in walked us to our room and made sure we were satisfied. We had the King suite for a great price.
Pros: Had a Bed and breakfast feel but still had the privacy of a hotel room. Walking distance to great food and quaint shops.
Cons: It was still about an hour drive to Yosemite but the nicest on the outskirtsz
Pros: good stop over before Yosemite. Very clean and the people are very nice.
Pros: There was nothing we did not like. We enjoyed our stay.
In historic Mariposa, just 43 miles from the west entrance to Yosemite National Park, this motel features free Wi-Fi. All uniquely-decorated guest rooms offer mountain views. A cable TV is available in each guest room at the 5th Street Inn. A private bathroom with a hairdryer and free toiletries are also included. A shared terrace is available for guest relaxation. Hiking opportunities are located near the 5th Street Inn. Bass Lake and Don Pedro Lake are within 45 miles of this motel. San Francisco is a 3-hour drive away.
Pros: The staff were accommodating and friendly. I was running in an event before continental breakfast would have been available so they packed me a goodie bag so I would have something to eat. They also accommodated a late check out for me so that I would be able to shower after my run before my long drive home.
Pros: Close to highway 41 and Yosemite.
Cons: The heater was very loud. Several times woke up to turn it off due to rattling and clicking sounds. Otherwise nice hotel, HOWEVER......woke up in the morning to our gas cap on the ground. Someone had syphoned over half a tank of gas outfoxed our expedition! That's ALOT of gas. We called the office, no security cameras and their 1 security guard happened to be off that night. Worst part is...they were aware. Staff response was "ugh! Again?! Havened to 5cars yesterday! It's a problem we have". Really? No notification to your patrons? No extra effort for increased security. Not ONE SIGN of "park at your own risk. Not responsible for loss or damage". No notice on any paper or receipt and no verbal communication. Spoke with manager who blew it off. Complete lack of customer service or even sense of responsibility. At least make patrons aware. We will not be back.
Pros: close to yosemite NP and close to businesses in Oakhurst.
Cons: Rooms need updating, layout of rooms is tricky.
Pros: The staff were very accommodating. Room was spacious and had all the amenities. Great location!
Cons: The only negative - pillows were not comfy.
Pros: The hotel was close to Yosemite which is why I came to the area. It was close to many restaurants and stores. So you had a wide variety of types of restaurants to choose from.
I traveled alone but felt very safe in the area.
The staff was very friendly and answered all my questions to my satisfaction. They really made my stay very pleasant. Wonderful staff both in the check in area and restaurant and bar located on the premises.
The room was clean and quiet. The lobby was lovely and welcoming.
Pros: Rooms were great. Lobby is excellent. Location is good. over all excellent.
Cons: I did not quite like the restaurant staff. Sorry I am having to say this.
Pros: Great natural feeling landscape with beautiful view. Down in center of town within walking distance of many points of interest.
Cons: On-site dining was disappointing but not a problem with many eateries nearby.
Pros: The room accommodations and staff were excellent as was (surprisingly) the food at the hotel restaurant.
Cons: Access to room was awkward since hotel is built on a hillside. Proximity to main part of Yosemite is deceiving. Although only 15 miles from southern park entrance it is another 26 miles to the main "valley" of Yosemite on a winding mountain road taking a total of 90 minutes. Excellent place to stay if only taking one day to see Yosemite highlights and driving through from the northern Mariposa entrance.
Pros: Beautiful grounds, well landscaped, beautiful lobby, comfortable bed, cool murals of Yosemite in room and lobby, balcony was a plus, dinner at restaurant right next door was excellent for the price.
Cons: Pool was too far away, the whole property is on a hill and the pool is all the way at the top.
Pros: Room size, open feel, great location, ambiance, large and comfortable king beds, spacious bathroom, scenic location, friendly staff.
Yosemite hotels are nestled in the most stunning region of California where bass fishing and hiking are beloved daily activities. Madera County is known for hosting Yosemite National Park. A park-like setting is our backyard, but that’s not what sets us apart. Our friendly service, spacious rooms and stunning views do. We have a restaurant on-site, where delicious waffles, sweet fruits and pastries, and 100% Arabica coffee is served every morning. Two swimming pools, indoor and outdoor, provide a relaxing retreat year-round. We’re only 15 miles from the South Gate of Yosemite National Park, so outdoor lovers are in paradise at this Best Western Plus Yosemite Gateway Inn hotel. Hiking, fishing, and fly fishing tours are all favorite activities. Zip Yosemite is an exciting, adrenaline-packed adventure for the entire family. Our Oakhurst hotel is proud to regularly host business travelers, too. We welcome employees of the National Forestry Department, Kaiser Permanente® Medical Center and community medical providers. Whether your travels are for business or leisure, you’ll be treated like honored guests. Indulge yourself with well-appointed rooms and the wonder of the area. California is all about relaxing and enjoying the good life. You’ll never want to leave, and it will quickly become one of your favorite destinations. Book a relaxing stay at Best Western Plus Yosemite Gateway Inn and enjoy the lush beauty of our region! Enjoy your stay.
Pros: Cozy cottages with more privacy and "with nature" feel surrounded by lush pine trees. Was nice to wake up to the light snow and lower temperatures-- a beautiful view. Balcony was a good place to step out and relax, take it all in. Fireplace was a nice touch. All with the convenience of a short walk to the amenities of a hotel.
Cons: Food choices were limited and a bit pricey, but given where you are, it's expected. We dined at the timber lodge pizzeria twice. Salad bar was a hit! Fresh with good variety. Pizzas weren't bad either. Good for families with children!!
Pros: We like the staff, they were all friendly. It was a great resort to travel with a group with little kids.
Cons: We stayed at the Cottage. Furnitures are dirty and old. It would be a lot nicer if there was hair dryer inside the changing room of the pool area. it was kind of cold to travel back with wet hair.
Cons: We heard our neighbors conversations as clearly as if we were in the room with them. We heard the tv, the kids across the hall, the guests outside at the bar (4 stories down) and when the bar closed the party came up to the rooms and we could hear the drunk shouting and music until late into the night. Even if you are a night owl, be aware that the sounds start back up in the morning. Don't stay here if you expect a good night's sleep.
Pros: Comfortable, Newly finished rooms
Large Stone fireplace in lobby
Proximity to Yosemite
Early evening hot chocolate in lobby
Indoor pool and hot tubs
Adult only hot tub option
Cons: We had connected with hotel day prior to arrival
Was asked for arrival time which we said ~3:30pm
Published check-in was at 4pm
However, room wasn't ready until almost 6pm
Missed some activities on first day as couldn't change into snow clothes in time for sledding
Some rooms are not upgraded
Lobby is small for amount of guests
Would have been nice to have one to two more carved out sledding hills.
Need a formal roof/breezway between hotel, ice-skate rentals, and skating rink; You get soaked if it's raining. The little umbrella doesn't cut it.
More organization around booking sleigh rides
Sleigh rides were all booked up when we checked in
Pros: As you approach, the Tenaya Lodge looks inviting. Oversized, rough-hewn beams, stone fireplaces, and a large "great hall" feeling in the lobby. The staff are friendly.
Cons: My wife and I booked a weekend at the Tenaya Lodge as a romantic getaway. We were unpleasantly surprised. A few things to know before you go: (1) The "spa" is crap. Sauna/steam rooms are separated by gender. The sauna was merely warm (140 F); the steam room had no steam, was dirty, and smelled strongly of an old sponge. (2) Don't book a cottage. The 'cottages' are really just cheaply-built condos. Our neighbors' kids were thumping up and down the stairs all night. (3) Bring your own food. Their offerings are nothing special and ludicrously expensive (a hot cocoa and a cup of tea came out to $10).
Pros: Ahwahnee Lodge > $600 per night, beautiful, upscale lodge...lots of tourist traffic, very expensive
Yosemite Lodge > $350 per night, lots of tourist traffic, old government like track housing buildings, not exactly a beautiful place...but def very functional, but still very expensive for you what you get...this place does not give you the cozy, big lodge like the Ahwahnee
Essentially the two above places are about 1/2 mile from each other on the valley floor pretty much in the same complex. Their biggest perk is they have yo staying down in the valley in the middle of one of the most scenic views on the planet...and they make you pay for that view. Remove them from the valley floor and you might expect to pay $200/$75 respectively in any other city.
Now for the Tenaya Lodge. Its a better version of the Ahwahnee but just not on the valley floor. It is located about half way between the south entrance and the valley floor. And its cheaper than the ugly and uninviting Yosemite Lodge. at about $280 per night. It is exactly what you would want a big lodge to look like, cozy, entrance and grand room decor made from big trees (very similar to Ahwahnee)...and it also has private house-like cabins with gas-only fireplaces that are very well kept (which is where we stayed). Not a true fireplace but big flames and fireplace heat at the end of a long hiking day is a really nice atmosphere to relax in. The Tenaya offers room service to the cabins and has 3 decent restaurants (in the Lodge) to choose from....it also puts you close to Wahana (further into the park) and the South Entrance giving you additional dinning options that you WON'T have staying down in the valley floor (unless you want to drive 1.5 to 2 hours to eat)
For those of you that "need" to stay on the valley floor consider this: no matter what or where you go, you will be driving. To get to the valley floor you must drive about 45min. Thus to drive out...to get to the other park locations, you must also drive 45min out. So to stay in the valley floor, aside from the awesome view, offers no additional convenience. Everything is about 1 hour from everything else...every water fall, every trail, every scenic view. So...even if you decide you want to stay at the very expensive Ahwahnee or the shabby Yosemite Lodge you must still drive at least an hour to get to anywhere else: Mariposa Grove, Toulumne Grove, Glacier Point, 2 hours to Toulumne Meadows, etc. The drives from Tenaya are more for some and less for others.
Everything in the Park is expensive. Just know this going in...and get over it. Remember, most of these places are closed during certain portions of the year and shipping to these remote locations certainly isn't convenient or cheap thus all their prices reflect this. Bottled water: $4.00. Banana: $1.50 6-pack beer: $10+ ...you get the point. Gas though isn't much more expensive than outside the park.
Thus again, Tenaya is the best bang for the buck.
Cons: In contrast to everything else offered in the park, there really aren't any negatives. Everything must be taken in context...and that being said Tenaya is pretty top notch place that doesn't break the bank.
The ONLY personal disappointment for us is we truly wanted a real fireplace burning real wood in our cabin...not a gas. This is a personal thing for us and not a negative on Tenaya. Tenaya...nor Yosemite...can afford another massive forest fire started by embers blowing from a chimnee...or a cabin burning down. We get the hazard...just bummed about it.
On last note, the 3 restaurants didn't really have a diverse menu's from one another. It's all the same kitchen and for the most part you could order anything from any menu at any restaurant. Each restaurant offers a different feel...but if you do room service, all three menus are collapsed into a single menu thus you would never know these were three separate restaurants. A minor if not an issue at all...but for some if you are trying to do a romantic get away then your dinning experience is important. But most aren't in Yosemite for exclusive romantic get-a-ways.
Pros: Very nice location.
Cons: Staff at restaurants, bit amateurish. need professional training.
Pros: Everything was magnificent!!
Pros: Excellent facility. Exceeded our expectations. Good location. Nice staff and good food.
Cons: Bathroom set up a bit odd. Balconies would be nice.
Pros: We stayed in the cottages and found them well appointed and a great design to get 3 rooms in 1 house.
Cons: Lightly staffed in March so was difficult to get anyone to answer the front desk phone.
Pros: A great base camp for exploring the many offerings Yosemite has to offer.

Pros: My husband and I stayed one night at this lovely little inn. We loved it - the room was comfortable and clean. It was right in the middle of this little town and we enjoyed walking around and exploring Mariposa. This may seem like a strange thing to mention, but the towels were extremely soft, which is rare in my experience with hotels/inns. When you're washing your face, it makes a difference to not feel a scratchy towel on your skin...little things go a long way. The women who run the inn were fantastic - super friendly and gave us great advice about visiting Yosemite. I would definitely stay here again.
Cons: The shower was very snug, which wasn't a problem for me, but I could see that it might be a problem if I were older and/or required more room to maneuver. It didn't detract for my overall experience though.
When visiting Mariposa, River Rock Inn is a great choice to consider. Guests will have free perks like breakfast, WiFi, and self parking. Other highlights include a terrace and a garden.
Pros: It is a family inn managed by his owner. Very nice place. Kind of being at home.
Very close to south entrance of Yosemite national park.
Pros: They had breakfast included, free parking, and free movie rentals.
Cons: Our room door was left ajar for hours after the room was cleaned, and there were dead bugs squished on the walls of the bathroom and bedroom.
Enjoy your visit to Oakhurst with a stay at Hounds Tooth Inn. Guests looking to stay active can check out the nearby hiking/biking trails, kayaking, and mountain biking, and free perks include continental breakfast, WiFi, and self parking.

The Merced River is 14.9 miles away. Free guest parking is available.
Pros: This place COULD be cool in the summer, when things are actually open. Still nothing special, though.
Cons: I booked the place since they advertised a hot tub and a cool-looking bar and restaurant. When we got there we were told all of those things were closed for the season. We tried to get a partial refund because of the false advertising but they were uncooperative.
Pros: Less than 5 minutes away from South Entrance to Yosemite
When you stay at Narrow Gauge Inn, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Mariposa Grove. The seasonal outdoor pool is a great spot to take a dip, and guests can grab a bite to eat at Buffalo Bar (Seasonal), which serves American cuisine and is open for dinner. There's a garden, and rooms offer balconies and free WiFi.
Pros: Big spacious room. Good bed. Friendly staff and owner
Cons: The walls are pretty thin so we could hear the neighbors slamming doors and their tv. Other than that great
Pros: Room was large and clean. The bed was overly soft for my liking. The water pressur in the shower was very low. Overall a good value.
Pros: Quaint, clean and comfortable sum up this hotel! We loved the attention to detail, such as the lovely landscaping and chairs outside each room for enjoying the evening. It's close to everything, has a pool and hot tub, and is 40 miles from Yosemite!
Cons: They could have had another bar of soap available! That's the only thing I would have changed.
Pros: Very quiet, clean, and simple. Wifi and full TV channel lineup.
Cons: Wish it were closer to Yosemite Valley!
Pros: Ideally located in town. Young lady @ front desk gave great tip for restaurant - '1850'. After dinner, walked Main St. window-shopping, being mid-week, stores closed. Walked thru park-delightful! Room was clean/nice size, comfortable bed. Friendly town!
Cons: Pretty pricy! Stayed in National Parks Lodges cheaper.
Pros: The hotel was a perfect location in town, walking distance to everything. Because it was pet-friendly and I did bring a dog, my expectations were not too high as to cleanliness and comfort. This hotel turned out to be perfect for both of us.
Pros: Rooms in the back away from the street.
Pros: New bathroom, very friendly staff, and located right next to the YARTS bus stop.
Pros: HUGE rooms! Convenient check in.
Pros: Plenty of parking, the rooms were clean, had both a microwave and refridgerator in the room at no extra cost.
Cons: They had office hours, something like between 6am and 10pm, we tried to call and go to the office during these hours and no one was around. They did not have the WiFi password in the room so we couldn't use it the first day.
Pros: spacious. nearby Yosemite.
Cons: a little bit noisy from neighbors. low pressure of bath water.
Pros: Good hotel, clean.

Cons: The room they assigned had only one bed. We requested 2 beds. The room they assigned reeked of marijuana smoke. After complaining, we were given a very nice room and were completely satisfied.
Pros: -this is one of the best lodgings in the region -two story chalets with deck and individual driveway -complete kitchen with cutlery -friendly staff and guest -the general store and post office within the same space -free international long distance c
Cons: -wifi signal for internets not working in our chalet -the location is secluded
Pros: Spacious and comfortable , beautiful location.
Cons: Tiny wash room
Pros: Location was nice
Cons: The hotel was dirty and not meeting 3 star level more like 1 star. Disappointing. They don't clean rooms daily.
Pros: It was close to where I lived, the separate chalet, and the proximity to the lake. The views were fantastic.
Cons: Not enought parking, the restaurant was awful, and the check out was too early.
Pros: The chalet was great, very spacious with nice views.
Cons: A little far from Yosemite, it takes about 1.25 hours to get to the actual hiking trail/view points of Yosemite.
Pros: I liked that it is spacious and the fact that it has a kitchen, and has all the amenities of home. It is sort of like a home away from home.
Cons: It needs some remodeling, and some very good cleaning, but otherwise it is in good condition.
Pros: The resort was on the lake with beautiful views & great food at the restraunts.
Cons: No, i honestly liked all of it.
Not worth XXX a night. Website makes the cabins look much nicer. Lake area is beautiful. Restaurant was clean....food great.
Cons: Carpet looked dirty. Had musty odor. Shower head was way too low. Would not stay again.
Great location! Looks like it will be great but after a few minutes it started to get disappointing for many reasons. Found the staff to be less than friendly and kinda rude.
Pros: Great location on the lake.
Cons: I did not get the room I reserved. The decor and general areas in and out of the room were old and kinda beat up. Needs a lot of cleaning and some renovation. Had a broken shower rod and handle. Among many other old and worn things.
Awesome style and environment. Our family very much enjoyed the old fashioned and outdoors feel of our chalet. It definitely does not have the updated amenities that most people enjoy in more modern hotels (flat screen TV's, new carpet, updated tile bathroom floors, etc.), but that is what we enjoyed most about it. Instead, the chalet offers plenty of space and all of the things needed to relax and enjoy after a day at Yosemite. There are a few nice local restaurants and shops close by. The lake is beautiful. I will definitely stay again and would recommend this to anyone.
Pros: Great location.
Cons: Nothing wrong.
The setting was beautiful, and we would definitely stay there again, however, people looking for top of the line accommodations might not be happy there. It was well situated for getting to Yosemite, and there is a nice little community of shops on site but we were there early in the season and not many were open.
Pros: The room was actually a duplex and very spacious. Our balcony had a view of the lake and overall the facility is very clean.
Cons: It was obvious to us that this is a facility that is making its way back. Our room was somewhat dated, old cabinetry and older appliances, but it was very clean and well maintained.
