Food was brilliant The bar that was advertised as showing sky sports wasnt even open.
Friendly, quality staff. Good breakfast.
That the hotel was in the centre of Buxton, which was handy for shopping and eating out.
The hotel staff were very polit and helpfull . the rooms were spacious , clean and comfortable . Breakfast was very nice with a good choice of food .
Hotel was clean. A bit too warm!
convenient for opera house back facing room and afair distance from the lift, my husband has walking difficulties
The quality and selection of food in the restaurant was very poor and lets down this otherwise excellent hotel
The food was second to none, absolutely gorgeous. However, I would expect nothing less at the price. Location is ideal - right in the centre of town
It is not value for money. First time (out of many stays at hotels in the UK/worldwide) I have come across Car park charges (3.50 per day) and internet charges on the top of room charge (GBP 6.50 per hr, 12 GBP per day). The food is good, and the staff is nice during the meals but does not seem to be professional. The overall impression is unfriendly. One of our colleagues did not have internet appliance in the room. Rather than go and check her complaint, a memebr of staff sent back to "look for it better, as they shall be in every room". Then next day after repeated complains she had an appliance brought in; which did not work and again instead of checking she was advised to "enter the room number correctly". They seem to be nice people but either not trained, or suffer from severe lack of personell.
It was friendly service, a very nice room and delicious breakfast! I would definitely stay again. nothing
Lovely setting, lovely rooms, lovely food, entertaining animals
Very friendly and comfortable with an individual feel and lovely furnishings. Lovely wine and food. Tv did not work very well and the water pressure in the shower was a bit weak.
Set in beautiful surroundings, huge comfy bed, spa bath and sauna in the bathroom, made to feel at home, amazing breakfast.
Beautiful accommodation. Friendly staff. Excellent food.
Fantastic location, very comfortable and luxurious room
remoteness to the real world
Fabulous location, friendly helpful staff and wonderful rooms. We were upgraded and could not have wanted for more.
Absolute quiet, beutiful surroundings and the most impressive quality and service I have found in 12 months of business travel aroung the UK
The breakfasts were amazing - so different from the offerings of large hotel chains - they were cooked to order, hot and so tasty. The staff who were friendly but not intrusive. The beautiful countryside and the excellent suite I'm a 'townie' I never thought about things like spiders when I booked the hotel - and was taken aback at the size of the one I found in the bathroom - however this is a minor complaint unless you are a 'spider phobic'
The location isnt brilliant! It's at the end of a potholed drive and at the end of an industrial estate - but it is only 5 minutes from the town centre of Buxton. The rooms are not big and the bathroom is tiny but it has all the facilities. However, the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast was more than enough. The price is very attractive and of course, parking is free which is not the case in the centre of Buxton. We would stay again! I suppose we would have preferred a bigger bathroom. There is only room for one person at a time.
Dovedale view from our nice bedroom Fruit quality available at breakfast
Clean, well-appointed room; Excellent location; 4-poster bed unexpected surprise; excellent set price evening meal; free admission to Chatsworth House as part of 2-night package. Knowledgable and friendly staff. There were no bad points.
The location The room and the food.
wonderful location, very good food (breakfast and dinner)
Staff very friendly and helpful None
Beautiful location. Nice bedroom. Good lounge areas. Lovely gardens. Bar food disappointing.
Setting is outstanding price of the evening meal
Beautiful location right in the heart of Dovedale. Pleasant staff at reception and in the restaurant. Were there for two nights. The room for the first night was small, quite poky and contained a four poster bed that looked quite nice but was not full size, saggy in the middle and about three feet off the ground. Unfortunately as a couple we are full size and also quite saggy in the middle. To say I had a bad night's sleep would ne inaccurate. I did not sleep at all. Not a wink. It was like lying in a canopied hammock. In the morning I spoke to reception and said that we could not sleep in the same room another night and to be fair to them they were very good about it and changed our room. It did unfortunately spoil our stay however because we were so shattered that we couldn't really enjoy the walking we were so looking forward
Lovely setting, good restaurant [although limited menu], numerous intimate lounges. Reception staff very helpful and attentive. Restaurant service excellent. We dined in the bar on the first night and the kitchen closed during our meal, and so we were unable to finish our meal! When we queried this with the bar manager he just smiled politely and disappeared.
Room comfortable and spacious. Efficient central heating. Reception staff friendly and helpful. Dinner expensive, no a la carte and only average quality. Breakfast badly overcooked! Hot water only lukewarm.
The hotel is warm and welcoming, a lovely building with efficient, friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are good, the food is excellent, the location is beautiful. It's an exceptional hotel and I would definitely return. Nothing. it was all good.
The service in the restaurant was excellent and so was the food and the wine. We had two rooms and the TV did not work properly in one room. We didn't complain, however, because we were only staying overnight.
the position, the food the helpfulness of the staff No problems identified
friendly staff and location
The friendliness and courtesy of the staff No
Food in the Hen room excellent Room 41 poky and not good value
We had a corner room with windows on two sides which gave the room plenty of daylight and we were also overlooking the Pavilion Gardens No
Unique and interesting hotel with lots of history and friendly, sincere staff.
excellent service, very interesting building, good central location The room was very warm even though the windows were wide open (in november) and we turned the radiators off, it was bearable at this time of year but we might think twice about staying here during summer.
Staff were friendly and it was possible to have a post theatre dinner. Hotel was busy but breakfast was served well. Didn't realise till the next day that there was an even better option of having part of the meal before the theatre and finishing after. Our room was very cold, all the radiators were turned off and, although we could have asked for a fan heater we were going out very soon after booking in.
