The hospitality of the staff the entrance of the hotel. you need to walk a distance to enter the hotel on the main street
Lady at reception was very kind give us information about where to go. They also keep our luggage after chekout for a few hours. You fill yourself safe there.
Location was fantastic, very close to main shopping areas. Also, lots of pubs and restaurants nereby and within walking distance of everything.
Atmosphere No curtain in the shower
Nice location The room was reported as superior with queen size bed, though in fact the room was 6 sq.m. with a tiny bed.
Good location close to an event we were attending Television service limited and very poor reception. Shower was a bit low and cramped.
The location is great. It's near to the train station and to the dam. I needed to laundry a pants and, despite of the price (expensive), it was very good. There was a nespresso machine in the room. There wasn't a breakfast. The room is small, but it was ok for two people.
friendly staff nothing
The free use of PC and Internet access in the Swiss Office was great
This was a fantastic place to stay. I would recommend it highly. Convienently located near the train station and cruise boat landings.
it was close to everything in central amsterdam which is a bonus less walking breakfast could of been of a wider range to suite more traveling people
staff cleanliness, old bathroom, dirty old carpets all over the hotel
I liked the newly renovated Star Rooms. I also liked the location of the hotel. There were many aspects I didn't like: - in room 601 (I stayed there between October 5-October 10, the heating was not working. I asked the reception staff to fix it, and they said the automatic heating system has some problems and there' nothing they can do about it. - I had another reservation for October 11-13. I annouced reception at check-out on Oct 10 that I will be late (around midnight) on October 11. When I arrived on October 11, they gave me a smoking room, which was impossible to breathe in. I asked for a non-smoking room and I've been told that there are no more rooms left, because I arrived very late. I found this offensive, as I announced the hotel two days before that I will be late, not to mention that I also left my luggage in the cloakroom. - after long talks, however, I was given a non-smoking room, with twin beds. It is the worst room I've ever been into, 301, it's like a coffin. Take my advise and don't offer it to other clients ever again. Also, this room was cold, as the heater was barely defrost (after turning it to maximum).
Location, design and decor of the rooms I enjoyed everything and can not fault anything
The staff was very accomodating. The rooms were clean, and even though our room was on the busy street, the windows were sufficient to keep out most of the traffic noise.
This hotel was in a great location and had very friendly staff. The room set up was a little strange. The bathroom was all glass and lacked privacy. The bed was also placed strangely with the foot of the bed against the wall. This was a very clean hotel, and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in.
very convenient location, clean, secure no problems
Nothing Thought the hotel was grim - view from window a corrugated iron sheet. Room dark and unwelcoming. Bathroom very small with sink outside the bathroom. Lift was dirty and smelled like a toilet.
Lovely hotel, perfect location. The showers in room are glass, with limited frosting. So if you are with your couple then great, or close friends, but if you are sharing with someone you are not so comfortable with these rooms maybe a little "revealing" and slightly uncomfortable. Personally I didnt mind,
The security use of key cards for all access including lifts.Felt safe.
Very central location, clean, friendly, well-furnished.
Good location, big and clean rooms, nice staff, value for money
I liked the location and the style of the room. We wanted to make some tea as it was quite cold in Amsterdam but there was no tea pot. We asked the service and it appeared the tea pot would cost us additional 6 euros. I think tea pot should not cost anything in the hotel of such level.
Good location, helpful staff, nice bar.
Great location. great food, friendly staff. pricey
Excellent location, which is why I would still recommmend it. Not particularly good value for money. There were rennovations taking place making the room a bit noisy duraing the day. 30 Euro pp breakfasts are too expensive and should have been included in the rate
The location is perfect, walking distance from the train. We also walked both days from the hotel through the neighborhoods to the museum district and back. The breakfast and cocktail receptions were an added benefit.
Paid extra for lounge Lounge didn't have food available all the time Lounge should open at 5 am We were with my handicap father and the hotel lobby is handicap accessible but it would be a real problem if he had to leave quickly.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Amsterdam and couldn't have asked for a better hotel. Very comfortable, immaculate, great location, incredibly friendly and professional staff. Would definitely recommend this hotel for pleasure or business trip. nothing
nothing Had booking confirmation in-hand. Manager asked a ton of questions, asked me to email her the confirmation, wasted a half hour till she finally told me the reservation cannot be honored because their reservation system was already closed, meaning they overbooked and refused my reservation after I already showed up at the hotel. They wasted my time. They were rude. They tried to blame me even though all i did was book online. They provided no assistance in getting a different room in the city. Awful experience. BE CAREFULL ON BUSY NIGHTS, THEY OVERBOOK.
Great central location. Nice, business-class hotel with good facilities and service. Ask for room facing courtyard, which is quieter than street side. Kayak price of $170/nt incl (very good) breakfast was great deal for this property.
Location Being overcharged/ They cached my deposit and failed to return it! (50 Euros)
Good colours, style of reception and breakfastroon was pleasant, fireplace at receiption were really nice. No fitness room at the hotel. Wholefloor carpet is not same style than other things. Corridors ugly.
Great staff knowledgeable about area and willing to answer questions and provide direction. Rooms are clean.
The staff are excellent I do Think Ther price is high
Excellent all round! Will definitely stay here on future trips to Amsterdam. No iron or bathrobes!
WiFi did not work in my room (signal too weak) but worked well in lobby
The attitude and helpfulness of staff was very good. Cleanliness and presentation was good The location suited us very well The breakfast room was too much of a crush and could have been laid out better. The afternoon coffee and evening bar facilities were given low priority.
The location and the quality, cleaness of the hotel
Lovely comfortable room, nice decor, loved the dimming lamps. We had to queue to check in, and after our long journey to get there, we were tired and wanted to go up to our room as quick as possible.
Excellent location, 3 minute walk from Amsterdam Centraal
location, nice hotel
Hotel staffs were professional and polite. Free Wifi is a bonus! It will be nice if breakfast is included.
The Pulitzer offers old world charm, excellant service, and all the luxury in modern accommodations anyone could ask for, I was thrilled with the hotel, and the morning breakfast was par excellance. The location of the hotel was for us, perfect. I just can't say enough. I've stayed with the Pulitzer before this trip and I will definately stay there again when I return to Amsterdam. I am in the restaurant business in the US, and because I work so hard at creating a special atmosphere and serving my guests well, I am very appreciative when traveling to be treated so well. . The Pulitzer does it right, from check in the check out! Thank you! Absolutely NO Complaints or suggestions.
The location is very good, having a good access to anywhere from the tram station close to the hotel. The staff is indeed capable and courteous, but I rather wish them to be more leisurely.
Excellent location. Little noisy, little dirty:)
great location, walking distance to most things, nice garden too much renovation, halls not very attractive
The Pulitzer was recently redesigned and it exceeded my expectations in almost every way. The location can't be beat. It's in a very smart area in Amsterdam with great bars, shops, and restaurants nearby. The design of the hotel is very chic. The interior courtyard garden is amazing. Everything was perfect except service at restaurant Jansz. Everyone was well intended but some people (hostess) abandoned post for several minutes and people were left waiting to be received and, &! My case, to collect my coat. This is one area of operation to inspect. Otherwise, everything was so perfect. I've stayed also at the Dylan hotel and Waldorf and I would say that this hotel is better than Waldorf because the design is so smart and not generic like Waldorf. And I would say it's equal to the Dylan. Dylan is also chic but has a more classic design inspiration. Stay here while it's still affordable. I imagine rates will increase once reviews and bookings start coming in.
found the hotel to be the perfect location for our vacation in amsterdam. many of the things we wished to see were in walking distance and if not the hotel was very quick to arrange transportation for us. thought the room could be just a little fancier in appearance for the amount of money charged. otherwise - very confortable
I spent there 4 nights with my wife, daughter and two grandchildren (5 and 14 years old). What impressed us most was the unique atmosphere of relax in the most heart of the city, unbelievably delicious cuisine at 238 restaurant and very comfortable pillows!!!! No, everything was perfect
The location. Lots of dislikes and for the price we paid, it is not close to the value that it should be.
location, service, and room were great. We paid 30 euro extra at the hotel and had one of the two rooms we booked upgraded. one of the two rooms we booked was on the first floor. At first it looked terrible, but ended up being fine and three older kids stayed there and liked it. We stayed in a room that we paid 30 euro to upgrade to.
Beautiful atmosphere, nice staff and amazing location Breakfast was poor and very expensive.
We had a very nice room with a view on the canal;
Stayed here for business and it was great. All the required services and internet were available. As for comfort, the bed was perfect. My only discomfort was that it can get a bit too warm at night despite the heater being off. Also, I have to say that the hotel is beautiful and in a very nice location. It is very easy to find your bearings to find your way back and feel safe even late at night. Would definitely stay here again.
Staff, Bed, Pillows:) Internet Access
I had a lovely stay with very helpful staff in a cosy atmosphere. I recommend sipping a cocktail by the fireplace! Nothing I can think of.
Stayed for 4 nights and felt it was our "home" . The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of the restaurants and sites we were interested in.
Good value for the price and location in the center of town. Very nice staff and reasonably priced breakfast!
Everything...! Staff is charming, the room #405 (bridal suite) is marvelous even located in the annex and the main building for breakfest is suberb...
The Staff were amazing and the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in.
very comfortable and quiet hotel room not very big. Considering the price, breakfast should be included.
warm and friendly welcome. Smaller room but cleen and beautiful. Nice breakfest and Special interior design. Room a bit small
We liked a lot the way the hotel is decorated a lot, it's old classic style. Apart from that, the service was very good, personnel is nice and friendly. That the heating was switched off while room cleaning and you had to come back to the cold room.
Friendly and helpful staff, excellent location of hotel, rooms were clean and comfortable. The coffee machine was brilliant. Would have prefered to have a room with a canal view and located in the main part of hotel not the annexe
Strategic location in the heart of Amsterdam. Friendly and helpful front desk staff. Front rooms overlooking the main street are quite noisy, especially at night. This could be largely overcome by double-glazing the glass in the windows/doors.
the hotel is below fair standarard compare to the money i have paid hence i could not see much to say that it is good (one example I would like to bring here that I reserve smoking room but when I checked in i could not find it avaliable!!!) overall hotel stanadarad is below 4 stars
Good location. Really central. The hotel staff is helpful as well. The hotel room is a bit small, though the basic necessities is there.
The best thing about this hotel was the location, which was excellent. My only criticism would be the size of the rooms.
The location of the hotel was fantastic, it was so quiet I could sleep with my window open at night - a rarity in Amsterdam! The toilet was half under the washbasin as the bathroom is very small.
The location is ideal if you want to be right on Dam square and close to the main shopping area. The bathroom was modern and smart, if not very small. If I had been travelling with a companion however, the glass door would have been a problem. The room was small, and whilst supposedly a non-smoking room, still had the smell of stale smoke. I booked all non-smoking rooms for the group I was travelling with, but some had smoking rooms. The rooms that faced onto the main street were very noisy with the trams directly outside. I didn't think the hotel was good value for money, although speaking to people who had stayed in other hotels for the same price, it sounds like it was the better of a bad bunch! It is easy to get around in Amsterdam so I would recommend looking for a smaller boutique-type hotel that may be slightly further to walk, but gives a much better standard for your money.
It was very convenient to all the museums, entertainment and shopping. Lots of restaurants and eating establishments close by.
The hotel is within walking distance to most of the major attractions with tram service right outside the hotel. The hotel was extremely quite despite being right on Damrak. The walking directions from the Amsterdam Central Station were not clear enough. I would request adding how to get to Damrak from the Central Station.
It was located at the town centre, the staff were great and helpful, room where clean. The bathroom door was frosted glass, therefore you get no privacy, the walls are bit thin you can hear the rooms next to you.
Improve cleaner Small size of rooms
The Avenue is a fine hotel for the price & punches above its weight. My room was quiet which was important as I stayed out late. It is also well sited a 5 minute walk from the station. Check out is at 12 which is good if you do not like being rushed.
For a city hotel, the facilities were adequate. The hotel staff were reasonably helpful.
The staff were friendly and knowledgable and the location was amazing for getting around, the breakfast was also good. The walls of the rooms were quite thin and it could get pretty noisy at 4am!
Check in was easy and the staff helpful answering any question we posed. The buffet breakfast was varied and well stocked with staff replacing any items depleted.
Central position within walking distance of the rail station and many of the attractions, good breakfast, very comfortable beds. Rooms were a little dreary because there were only wall lights in the room. Not great for reading.
every time when I take shower, the water always go to floor.
close to city center and not expensive the room (single one) is a bit small for a three star hotel
Good location, quiet room and very good breakfast. Room was clean but needed refurbishing
Helpfulness of receptionists. Closeness to Amsterdam centre. Great variety of food at breakfast. We did find it very hot in the rooms during the night but appreciate others might not have.
Top Location, Friendly Staff Rooms, even booked early and got a cheap price, do not match at all a 5 star hotel. The room rate compensated a bit for it, but definitely disappointed by a hotel which has such a famous name.
The location Furnishing of the rooms
Location Scruffy corridors and dark bedrooms
NH is the ground zero for Amsterdam
We have stayed at this hotel twice now and it is in an excellent central location. The hotel reception is beautiful and the rooms are also in keeping with this. Our recent room was very clean, comfortable big bed and with all the amenities that you would expect. Prior to this we have stayed in one of the suites which are excellent but of course pricey. The general rooms are a good price - not the cheapest but you do get what you pay for. We didnt book the breakfast as this made the room price too expensive.
Very relaxed friendly atmosphere
Nothing exceptional springs to mind Badly stocked mini bar. No 24 hour restaurant/coffee shop
The location was the best thing. The rooms were small, inefficient handling of processes and nothing that made me feel it to be a "grand 5* hotel". They should take a lesson from Germans in Efficiency... or another grand hotel in their neighborhood.
Calmness Had to pay EUR 100 for 4 days of broadband connection. Should be free inside the hotel.
Check in/ out not very efficient
המלון עובר שיפוץ בלובי שלא ידענו בעת ההזמנה, אני חושב שזה פרט חשוב לדעת בעת ההזמנה, זה לא היה קריטי אבל רלוונטי. 25-5-2015
Location, price, excellent staff and wonderful building... This was the third time I have stayed at this hotel, and on both previous occasions I was allocated a much larger room than this time around... This time, the room we were given felt a little cramped, especially the bathroom. Also, the room contained only one mirror, inside one of the wardrobe doors, and there was only one bedside table. I will definately use the hotel again in the future for its excellent location, condition and helpful staff, but my fondness for the hotel has been slightly reduced because of the size of our room.
easy to access all areas of amsterdam ( very central location) No, everything was great, i enjoyed my stay and will book thier again when i return to Asterdam.
Location, freindliness of staff
This is the place to stay for visitors to Amsterdam. Great location near everything. Great restaurants and bars near by. One of the better coffee shops and smart shops just a minute away. Nothing.
2nd stay, had a bathtub this time ++ Central location. Clean. Cheap. We couldn't have a smoking room, even though we indicated a preference for one. The rooms all seemed to have been renovated with hard flooring which made adjacent rooms a lot more noisy.
The staff Lack of information ,should make clear what the hotel offers .ie. breakfast not included no smoking signs ,never saw in rooms but rooms was clean and nice.
The only concern, was the checking in it seem too long and you did have 3 staff on. However th ques for checking in was getting longer as the staff seem to take telephone calls when attending to people checking in.
Great view overlooking the Singel Canal Friendly atmosphere Brilliant location
Location, Lounge, Coffee and goodies at reception Beds hard
Cosy, friendly staff. No problems no free wifi
The beautiful classic design interiors. The room as well.
Loved the hotel and the staff were incredible. Will always stay there in the future. Room are small but beautiful. Rooms facing the canal had very little storage space.
Location, interior design, breakfast, coffee/cakes, most staff Poor window, let in a lot of street noise, with what we paid for 2 nights (c.€380) they could buy a double glazed window (about 4 ft by 3 ft) which would be a big benefit for future users of the room. While most staff were friendly, the receptionist we mostly dealt with was businesslike/efficient rather than friendly. (my wife might use different words!)
The rooms were very nice and clean. The breakfast was excellent. The staff was very kind. My brother lives in Paris and is recommending the Hotel Estherea to any of his friends/associates who are planning to visit Amsterdam. The bar wasn't open until the evening. I would have liked to have a cocktail after I checked in...but there were plenty of places around there to have one - so it was not a big deal.
Well situated hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Reasonably comfortable bedroom, although small. Nice clean and well appointed bathroom. Hotel bedroom was rather small and paintwork on windows peeling.
Everything was excellent. Beautiful old world charm, large spacious room, staff was outstanding in every way with help on questions, places to eat and see and making reservations. No
Good location. Not very modern. Adds 10 years to your life. People 50+ loves it I guess...
Next to Leidsplein and museum area. Proximo da Leidsplein e da area dos museus.
location was good also a friend wanted to suprise us on arrival with a welcom gift & rang the hotel twice to arrange something & was unable to communicate with staff. no english & he is Dutch & couldn't make anyone understand him. breakfast was very poor
It was close to the areas we wanted to be with a short walk to bars and restaurants. The room was clean and the buffet breakfast good. Could have done with a clock in the room.
The beds and pillows were good, the location in the Joordan with great shops, restaurants and boutiques closeby was excellent The bathroom wasn't super clean, the television didn't work and the shower tap was leaking
Reception staff very helpfull. The hotel was more like a hostel, overpriced for the type of accomodation.
location the woman in the reception desk
The photos posted in the site are way to nicer for the reality of the hotel, which is quite old and simple. I thought it was overpriced for the facilities offered.
We did not like anything- This was the worst hotel we ever stayed at in our 15 years of travelling., It was ugly, dirtly, expensive, just awful- the breakfast buffet was terrible. We do not understand how this could be listed as a 3 star hotel when it is a no star hostel quality....
location. conveinet yet quiet none
This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. This includes cheap hostels that I used to stay in as a student. There is no way that this is 3 stars hotel. Both, room and bathroom are terribly dirty and the overall just too atmosphere is depressing.
Nice hotel,excellent staff,good location!
Please write at least 15 words Professionalism of the staff and beautiful room No tea or coffee in the room and the room stayed quite cold
I stay in this hotel second time! I like absolutely everything. First time I stayed with husband in most expensive deluxe room. Now in standard. But both of room are perfect!
The location in a beautiful area of the city with good access to communication and travel links. The comfort of the accommodation and the most helpful and courteous staff.
Staff and easy availability of bicyles for our use.
Its location Yes. It took ages to walk from one side to the other and you had to do your ironing in a laundry roon close to the front desk as there weren't any irons available.
Great location. Very good and helpful staff. Canal houses are well known to frequent visitors. First timers with mobility issues (not my problem) should ask for rooms wiht easy access.
The room was very comfortable and lovely and clean. The hotel was very central to everything but in a lovely area.
The hotel was clean. The air conditioning did not cool the room well.
We like the service the room & central location
It was a lovely clean room with very friendly staff. It was in a nice central location. Breakfast was nice. We had the small room which was close to the reception but it was an ok size for a weekend away. It would have been nice to have tea/coffee facilities in the room.
Location, bright room overlooking the canal and helpful staff N/A
The friendly and helpful attitude of the reception staff. The location.
It was very close to the Anne Frank House, the train station, and lots of restaurants. The staff let me in my room early to store my luggage and change clothes. Breakfast was not included in the price of the room.
Clean, good location. Staff rude, changed our room about 5 times to get the one we wanted, barged into our room when we checked out 5 minutes late, overall wouldnt recommend for the price.. they act like having you is a chore and dont ever give you any help.
i liked the location and the room. the bed was a little too soft.
location bed was terrible
Internet acces from the rooms and free available
the location, the view from the windows and the modernised rooms, loby etc. facilities in the rooms (no minibar, chair, desc etc.) - because the room was very small (no. 471
The location is excellent, the beds were comfortable and breakfast was good. The bathroom had some humidity problems and the luggage storage room was very small and unguarded.
