10.0 Excellent
Pros: The peacocks on the grounds are wonderful. The fireplace adds comfort to the room. The spa and staff provided excellent service.
Cons: The bathroom lighting and mirror could use some updating for application of cosmetics.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful attention to detail, friendly attentive staff, clean, comfortable facilities, freshest, softest linen, delicious food and wine and a deeply relaxing, safe energy to the land itself. The only place i would stay were I to come back to Ecuador.
Cons: A cappuccino for breakfast would have been great
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Garden,view,tranquility,quality of rooms
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The grounds are incredible!! Seriously breathtaking. The food is great as well. The city of Baños is truly spectacular and we couln't imagine staying anywhere else during our stay. We stopped over in Quito for a few days prior to going to Baños and wish we had gone straight from the airport. So much to do in this gem of a town, but Samari also provides an amazing place to relax as well. Creates a good balance for your time at this location.
Cons: The beds were SUPER firm. I can't remember if I booked two beds (not sure why I would since it was my partner and I), but they didn't have a one bedroom avail, so we had to sleep in separate beds, which was a pretty big bummer. They also didn't seem to care that we were in a two bed room. Also, they placed us next to a family of SIX! My recommendation to the resort would be to separate families from romantic partners... different sides of the hall or something? Also to that note, there were more kids/families than I anticipated. Still it's hard to complain since you're literally in paradise. Just some things to know ahead of time, no deal breakers.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and the beautiful grounds
Cons: Screaming children at the spa and waking us up at 7 AM
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Samari Spa Resort is a piece of paradise on earth, which I would definitely recommend. It's a must!!!
8.2 Excellent
Pros: cleanliness, comfort and at a perfect distance from the town center. the facilities looked interesting although we only got to use the pool which was heated and very clean.
Cons: we got back to the hotel at 3 am on saturday, the gates were closed, the staff member in charge wasnt around. we had to wait 30 min until a guest inside went to look for someone who could help us in.

9.4 Excellent (145 reviews)
Hostal Princesa Maria - Banos (Tungurahua) - Building
3
9.3 Excellent (363 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Baños and with Tarabita Cable Car reachable within 8 km, Hostal Princesa Maria provides concierge services, non-smoking rooms, a shared lounge, free WiFi and a garden. Featuring family rooms, this property also provides guests with a sun terrace. The accommodation features a shared kitchen, a tour desk and luggage storage for guests. At the hostel each room has a private bathroom with a shower.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff are very helpful. Hostel is clean and well organised. Price is reasonably good. The hostel was very well maintained which is surprisingly for South America. Most of the others had problems, smells and things that don't work. The owners of this one put money and effort into to keeping it in good condition.
Cons: Nothing really. Some hostels have things like breakfast or a bar but I think this one is targeting a different customer. Maybe couples or people a little older so no problem.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Every thing. Victor was very helpful.
Cons: Wish they served breakfast, although i did fix my own here. Major fruit and vegetable market less than 1block away 3 times a week.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: - hot shower - towels - quiet hostel - nice staff who explains everything to you what to explore in banos - very clean - good pressure in shower - very very clean kitchen!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Really clean with a great kitchen and comfy beds. Owner is super friendly.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Cons: The only thing lacking is bedside lamps.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely peaceful hostel, friendly staff, nice outside area, easy walk into town, quiet at night, great WiFi (it was good enough for me to have a Skype interview during my stay), kitchen has everything you need, shop and bakery just round the corner.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Huge rooms, super clean, fully equipped kitchen, really friendly and helpful staff. Location is nice and quiet and only a short walk from everything (Baños is tiny!). We extended our stay for an extra night as felt very relaxed and it was super cheap. They were doing some minor renovations (not loud) so this place is just getting better and better :)
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice people, good group area, room was large and quiet (for LatAm), very close to market, the owners have a guide that shows you all the best markets/panaderias... In the area.
Cons: Kitchen was small. Only one user/group at a time could cook.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice host. Good room and comfy bed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Victor was a lovely, welcoming host who gives you advice and a detailed map when you arrive. It is made clear that it is not a party hostel so it was very quiet at night. The female dorm was extremely clean with plenty of blankets plus soap and shampoo in the en-suite bathroom. The bed was comfortable. Hot water worked 75% of the times I tried it. There was a kitchen that was small but well equipped, and nice common areas to sit at tables or watch TV. Also there is a little garden. Overall it was good value and I would stay there again.
Cons: There was no drinking water. It was suggested to boil it in the kitchen but that didn’t seem very practical - having to wait for it to cool before decanting into a bottle. To reduce all the plastic bottle waste perhaps it would be better to make filtered water available (perhaps cheap refills for a lower price per litre than the supermarket)?

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We highly recommend this hotel in Banos. It is quiet and centrally located. The travel office was really helpful in directing us to all that we wanted to do. It was especially relaxing on the second floor landing where we could rest for a day in the hammocks and read after a week of hiking the Quilotoa loop.
Cons: All good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Floresta Hotel was the best place we have ever stayed in Ecuador. Very nicely decorated hotel, attention to details, very friendly staff and super location. Not to forget the rich breakfast buffet and the nice and professional in house travel service of Ximena! We will come back for sure!

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great, rooms were big, shower was good and rooms clean. Would stay again.
Cons: It was quite a long walk into the centre (that was fine for us, but I think people would get a taxi, which was easy)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Awesome views of the mountains and volcano. Staff are very welcoming and friendly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely stunning with lots of superb flora - loved the place - wished we stayed longer!!!!
Cons: All was excellent!!!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great view!
Cons: Buth tube was not working. It worked only the shower. It would be great if we could use the bath tube too. La tina de baño no estaba funcionando. Sólo funcionaba la ducha. Hubiera sido fabuloso que pudiésemos usar también la tina.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very warm and helpful. The property is very unique and interesting. The room was very large and the bed was comfortable.
Cons: Unless you have a car, the location is not good. There is really nothing close by. The restaurant did not open for dinner as advertised. Breakfast was good, but the same every day. No one spoke English which made it challenging. Lots of car alarms in the parking lot.
La Casa Amarilla - Banos (Tungurahua) - Outdoor view
6
9.0 Excellent (69 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at La Casa Amarilla in Baños de Agua Santa, you'll be in the mountains, within a 10-minute walk of Juan Montalvo Park and Banos Central Market. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, multilingual staff, and laundry facilities. A roundtrip airport shuttle is available for a surcharge.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The view of Baños is excellent, it feels safe. The owners are really friendly people, willing to tell stories, the breakfast is good, with bread and jam made at the property and Ecuadorian coffee. The rooms are comfortable, is a great place to disconnect yourself from the city while still being close to it. I think is a great place for a family and adventurers.
Cons: While I was ok with it, there is a walk (around 10-15 minutes, going up the mountain) to reach the property, my mother didn't like that much (also, you have to plan around that, because you would not like to do this walk many times a day). Like I said, if you plan for this, it should be not an issue.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Superb hosts. Like living with a family. Amazing views, clean air, home cooked food. Best chicken soup in the west! It’s a hike uphill, on a dirt track - but well worth it for the peace and views.
4.2 Okay
Pros: The lady owner Betina was extremely lovely. The view is wonderful.
Cons: This is an inaccessible homestay up a mountain so steep and far from town only a person with a small backpack and no luggage could reach. Even with horses (which you have to pay for) to bring bags up it is very hard to reach and parts of the hill you have to slide down as they are difficult. With rain this would be a nightmare. I am a bit disappointed the reality of the access is not fully disclosed. We knew it was a bit of a mountain walk but the reality is far more extreme. If you plan on doing nothing for a night then maybe a night, but the price we paid really does not justify this stay. if you want to get into town for tours this is totally logistically impossible especially with two young children. You are staying with a family and their two small children and since it’s hard to leave the property you are stuck there also for food which compared to town is expensive. This was a very expensive mistake for us unfortunately as we booked for two nights but left after 1 paying a 50 euro penalty. Also the property knew in advance we were only one adult two kids as my husband had to return home due to illness. The cost of the one nights stay at Casa Amarillo cost as much as two nights in a 4 stay hotel in town. Also when asking for help with a tour of the town only provided the option of 80 dollar tour or use local Chiva nothing else. This was disappointing as 80 euro for a few hours sightseeing not in our budget but that was apparently the only option. On getting to town we soon discovered you can hire a taxi for the day for 20 euro to take you to all the places or the cheaper 4 star property we moved to arranged immediately a driver in 4x4 from 11 until 5 pm for 40 dollars. This property was not good value for the very high price we paid and the location is not for anyone except fit young backpackers with small rucksack.
7.9 Good
Pros: Kind hosts. Beautiful view.
Cons: Long steep non-paved road to Casa Amarilla (10-20 min walk from town), so we didn't use tur fascilities that much.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breathtaking views of Baños and the surrounding mountains. Hosts were excellent company and very accommodating.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good view and friendly host. Enough size room and lovely pet.
Cons: A little bit walk from town.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The view, the owners, the garden and the friendliness of the space.
Cons: The hike to get up to the property while it is raining is a little challenging. I would have been better to be a little more aware of what to expect from the hike up to the property. This is the best view/value money can buy in Baños
10.0 Excellent
Pros: These three days were amazing thanks to Bettina and Darwin !! The walk definitely worth this amazing view. Peaceful place in the middle of the hills. The breakfast is really good and the food too ! Thanks for the tips and the coffee beans. We won’t forget your family :) Camille and Romain
9.2 Excellent
Pros: It is a bit of a walk to get to the accommodation but it is definitely worth the trip: nice people and very quiet.

6.7 Good
Pros: Location is great. Short walk to town.
Cons: Rooms are old and overdue for renovation Not many options for breakfast.
6.3 Good
Pros: Concierge rubbed me the wrong way when we arrived, he wasnt friendly at all. We never got the welcome cocktail upon arrival and every time we asked fo something he made it see like he was doing us a favor. I understand it was 10 pm but his attitude was uncalled for.We upgraded to a better room even though the original room we payed for was already more. The upgraded room was filthy, stains on the bed and the bed board, had a decent view to the pool. The breakfast wasnt bad and neither was the concierge during the morning.
Cons: Night concierge, dirty bed and beadboard gave it that filthy feel
4.0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast just ok, facilities poor
Cons: Service, room quality and cleanliness
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Awesome. Tucked in next to a waterfall and across from hot springs.

Pros: Quiet location in town but close to the thermal springs and many views of the waterfall.
Cons: Front gate not secure. Wish we could have had a fan to get some fresh air in our room.
9.0 Excellent

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was very good and the coffee was spot on, the view we had of the waterfalls was was beautiful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent. Great coffee and choice between two great meals.
Cons: Shower could have been warmer, but was certainly adequate. Would not keep us from going back.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Actual owner or manager was pleasant and helpful. Room was adequate and clean. Very quiet and an easy wall to all the action in Banos.
Cons: Owner's apparent son was lounging on a sofa when I arrived and appeared irritated that he had to deal with checking me in. Perfectly ok to have a family run hotel, but this youngster needs to learn about how to greet customers. Started off with bad impression.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the room we had, it was on the top floor with a huge terrace and a view to the falls, the ocation is great since it is not where are all he stores but it was 5 min walk from there. Very quite at night, for sure will be back.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent

Cons: nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner is super nice and helpful. We loved the location and the cute hotel.
6.3 Good
Pros: Good location, decent bed, food was good.
Cons: 1. There was NO table & chairs on the balcony. We wanted to sit on the balcony and watch the waterfall, we were not able to. 2. The shower was difficult to get in and out of. I slipped and fell the first time I tried to get in the shower. The floor of the shower & bathroom was very slippery! It was a typical Ecuadorean hostel. We were hoping for something Americano, our mistake.
Aldea Real Eco Friendly - Banos (Tungurahua) - Building
10
8.7 Excellent (225 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Aldea Real Eco Friendly in Baños de Agua Santa, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Church of the Virgin of the Holy Water and Sebastian Acosta Park. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
9.6 Excellent
Cons: Staff doesn’t know any English, not even a word. Difficult to communicate as a tourist with limited Spanish.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Aldea Real is situated in a gorgeous spot overlooking the river and facing a verdant mountain side. The view and the power of the rushing water is breathtaking. The room was neat, clean and well appointed and a balcony provided great access to the view. The place is managed by an amicable young couple who were able to converse in English as well as Spanish, which came in handy.
Cons: While Aldea Real is in a gorgeous spot, it is not particularly close to town; it is about a 8 minute cab ride away. That said, a cab ride is $2, and I felt the view was worth it. My one recommendation would be the need for dehumidifiers to remove moisture from the air to keep mold at bay during the rainy season.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great view of the mountains and river at your doorstep. Excellent breakfast and helpful staff. Very relaxing !
Cons: Our room was a little chilly and needed better lighting
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful view from property. Very kind staff.
Cons: There was a very loud rooster outside the property that woke us up at 5 am.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The balcony and the view. Waking up to seeing the sun rise between the mountains was a wonderful sight to see.
Cons: There are dead bugs everywhere. Also in order to go anywhere you have to haul a cab, but there are no cans that run on the street of the hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, food and the overall experience was awesome.
Cons: The Jacuzzi didn't work properly. I was pretty disappointed by that. Hot water will go on and off.. Besides that we were really happy.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The view of the Pastaza River is awesome!

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Good sized breakfast and friendly staff always ready to help. :) The hostel was very cozy and a great place to chill out after a day of adventuring. :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My bag didn’t arrive on the bus from Loja and Giselle was ringing the bus company for me (my Spanish is limited) for two days to get it back. She was very helpful and conscientious and made sure that I got my bag back. Thank you Giselle! :) Great hostel- pool table, big common room area, bike rental, basic breakfast, food available to buy, nice garden and hammocks. Not in the centre but just a 10 minute walk to the church and main plaza Great hostel
Cons: Security light outside dorm at the back garden. Maybe wear an eye mask!
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice Hostel, would go there again - nice atmosphere and rooms at a good rate. Good price for value! Friendly help with organising activities
Cons: The internet is a bit weak at times and wall sockets are really rare - bring power banks and multi-plugs
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s a nice place, very well located and very kind staff
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Gréât location and great staff
7.0 Good
Pros: The garden was really nice and the breakfast was good. The room was spacious and the bed was comfy (I was lucky to get the bottom bunk, which was a lot wider than the top bunk). There were lockers in the room.
Cons: The water filter is only for the staff - they charge for refilling your bottle with drinking water. The bathroom was very small (nowhere to put/hang clothes/towel), and the shower was constantly changing temperature. I would have appreciated if the staff had showed me around the hostel - it's quite a big property. They only showed me to my room, did not explain where's the kitchen etc. Also, they didn't inform me that it was required to bring the bed sheets to the reception at check-out. It was written on the board behind the reception desk, but unfortunately I didn't notice. So, at check-out, they just pointed at the board, made me put my heavy backpack down, go back to the room and bring the bed sheets.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Being honest.. everything was just perfect.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The spacious room, the common areas and location. Quiet but very close to town center
Cons: Very disorganised staff. Also, everytime you bought something at the bar, you had to pay straight away. No possibility of paying it all in the end but I'm guessing that is because they have had bad experiences in the past...

Cons: Prohibition signs everywhere, prohibition to refill your water bottle to consume out of the hostel (charge of 1$ per liter!!), prohibition to clean your clothes or they will charge you the cost (what cost? Pros: The staff was exceptional. I had made a mistake in our booking and the receptionist, can’t recall his name was super helpful in fixing my confusion with the booking/reservation. He couldn’t have been more understanding and helpful. He made us feel at home. The next day we had booked an excursion with another company and he helped us when we were having some trouble getting them to pick us up. Wish I had known they offer the same tours. Breakfast was delicious even my picky teens loved the breakfast and asked for seconds!!!!

Pros: The stuff is very nice and helpful!! The shower is amazing. The breakfast is nice and gets you a nice start to your morning. There is a nice kitchen if you want to cook.
Cons: My bed was not very clean and had dust on it. The location is pretty bad and feels out of the center, but you get to the center by a 10 min walk.

Pros: Staff was amazing, room was ok.
Cons: No soundproof walls like described. Breakfast was not like expected or in pictures.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff was exceptional. I had made a mistake in our booking and the receptionist, can’t recall his name was super helpful in fixing my confusion with the booking/reservation. He couldn’t have been more understanding and helpful. He made us feel at home. The next day we had booked an excursion with another company and he helped us when we were having some trouble getting them to pick us up. Wish I had known they offer the same tours. Breakfast was delicious even my picky teens loved the breakfast and asked for seconds!!!!
Cons: There was nothing not to like everything was perfect. Home away from home.
4.2 Okay
Cons: U can't use the wifi or the kitchen after checked out (11 am) and when I complained about it, I got kicked out. Staff were not nice, rooms were okay but nothing specials. Empty hostels, not social at all
6.7 Good
Pros: You can do cooking here. And bathing experience is nice.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is basic but good to get your day started. The rooms are clean and the location is amazing, i had a view of the central park from my bed. The kitchen can be hectic because it is the kitchen from the restaurant, but all the kitchen staff is super helpfull. The rooftopbar is amazing with stunning views and good ambience. I would definitely recommend this place if you are in Baños
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good tours offered at good value prices
6.0 Good
Pros: Great position in the center of The city . Nice room and the rooftop is amazing ! It s nice to chill and have a drink by night . The restaurant is also good ( very typical local food)
Cons: We pay to have the breakfast included ; we arrived 20 min after the end of the breakfast time and the staff said that if we wanted to have breakfast we had to pay full price . So we asked just for a coffee before leave and we had to pay even for that. We asked for the possibility to leave your bags and chill for like 1 h in Baños but they said no cos “they have no space to leave luggages “

Pros: Location and staff.
Cons: Ruined our laundry, several items damaged.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Loved it here. The staff were fantastic. The breakfast was great. There is a restaurant on site where guests get a discount (really good prices and delicious- we actually ate here every day). It is literally on the main square so location is perfect - but not too noisy from the street (the bars aren't on the main square). Showers are hot. Rooms are pretty clean. They've also just opened a bar on the roof which is very reasonable and has stunning views. Also, they can organise tours for you for much cheaper than other places. We were sceptical but went for it and all of our tours were amazing! Wish we could stay longer.
Cons: Nothing! Well, one night we were kept up by guests in another room... Walls aren't that thick. But when they left we slept wonderfully.
