perfect view, nice room, balcony, swimmingpool, everything
Everything about the hotel.. The location was perfect for us not so far from La rambla and the city center -Plaza Catalunya- (about 2 min walk to reach the begining of La Rambla) and the tourist bus has a stop station just infront of the hotel door + their was a very close metro station L3 just at the begining of La Rambla. Nothing really. And I'm planing to stay their at my next visit.
We have stayed 4times at this hotel and everyone is very helpful we really enjoy staying there for comfort Location Hotel staff its wonderful
Breakfast; wheel-chair-accessibility in my 10 days at the hotel i was able to open without help the door to my room only one time.
The staff were helpful and very friendly
Absolutely great Cold water in the bath monday morning, but it was advised in advance
Location. Decent bathroom. Very hard matresses. Daily charge for internet connecton was over-priced. Virtually impossible to get or receive messages. They had no knowledge of a package that was left for us at the front desk abd it took close to 24 hours and multiple inquiries before it was delivered to us.
lovely balcony with view of harbour. Huge bed. Very clean. Nice bar. 5min walk from Ramblas and 10mins to beach. I'm booking again for next year. Not the worlds greatest shower, but nice bath and bathroom. Oh, and don't binge on the mini bar...predictably extortionate.
The greeting upon arrival at the hotel was excellent. The staff were extremely friendly, and the room itself was very clean and comfortable, if small. The location is good. Access to the centre of town is via a very pleasant walk up Las Ramblas. It is also an equally pleasant walk along the promenade which is just next to the hotel. All the rooms have kettles. Upon plugging in said kettle I received quite an alarming electric shock followed by a loud bang, sparks and smoke coming from the plug socket and a consequent power cut in the room. Whilst I accept these things happen as electrical appliances get older and need replacing, what alarmed me was the total lack of concern on behalf of the staff when I notified them that of what had happened, and of the fact that I had actually been electrocuted in their hotel room. In fact their only response was to send up a handyman to replace the kettle and reset the fuse. I mentioned what had happened twice at the reception desk and quite frankly other than showing some slight surprise they couldn't seem to care less. Another disappointing factor was the view. Many of the reviews, and indeed the website boast a fantastic panoramic view of the Barcelona skyline, whilst in reality the view, even from the 8th floor, consists of a massive pylon (which sits directly in front of the hotel) and an average vantage point of the Barcelona skyline at best.
The hotel is ideally situated at the bottom of the main road leading to all the shops and city centre. You can walk to most attractions and the night life is amazing. The bathroom in my room was amazing too with luxury bath and shower. The hotel staff are very friendly and will help you with anything. I would definitely stay there again. Spotlessly clean! Take some teabags as you only get 2 per night with powdered milk. Breakfast was extra for my stay and eating out is a lot cheater than the hotels food. But the hotels food is excellent as a last resort. Just minor issues, other than those I have no real complaints at all about the hotel as it was amazing.
Nice, well furnished rooms. Good bathroom. Choose this hotel partly because it was announced to have a roof top pool. Now it turned out the pool is about 5x3 m and less than a meter deep. Disappointed about this!
The hotel is located on the hill side at Monjuic, overlooking the city. Two minutes walk at the back of the hotel you can board a cablecar to the beach front, near the world trade centre. The begining of La Rambla at Colombus statue is 15-20 minutes walk from the hotel. The Hotel itself was clean and confortable, the rooms where spacious and the bath tub is big enough for two people, the walk in shower is a real bonus. We didn't make use of the restaurant or bar. Nothing to do with the hotel, but the only negative thing is that because the hotel is not in the city centre we used taxis to go to and from the hotel at night and we didn't get the feeling that the taxi drivers where the most honest people in the ctiy. Then again this could be subjective. A taxi ride from plaza catalunia will cost $9-15, La rambla $8 during the day and $11 (Nov. 2010)
All No thing
I liked the view in the hotel. My room was very spacious and I had an amazing balcony. Certainly the management need to look a little closer at the service levels their staff provide. The main downside for the weekend for me is any request was met with long delays.
Rooms were beautiful! Staff kept the best service throughout stay AirConditioner doesn't go much lower that 22. Also, hair dryers are not standard nor is a coffeemaker in room. Piano lobby can get loud as noice can be heard from rooms at least 5 floors up.
Great location fantastic hotel delux room perfect
Staff very friendly and professional. Premises clean and comfortable No tea and coffee facilities in room.
The staff were very helpful. The room was well designed and equipped with a balcony and a good view. Food and facilities were good. The service was very attentive but sometimes the outcomes were a little 'quirky'...however we loved it. We liked the hotel and the location is great from one point of view. However people need to know you are on a hill overlooking Barcelona which is great and the walk down is easy. But coming back usually means a taxi.
Small boutique hotel - elegant, quiet and very comfortable. Very helpful English speaking front office staff. Rooms were spacious and high quality with excellent view.
the hotel itself and the staff and its proximity to the city, its quietness and views. No door on the bathroom of room 605. I was told this was a design feature, if so, it does not work at all.
Inner design is rather nice, rooms are modern and we specially liked open bath space. Although is near the city center, because it's on the little hill it's not so easy to walk in and out. We mostly used taxi in the end.
Location, comfort, staff
Modern style staff were not that friendly or helpful
very close from the shopping area the bed are a little bit too strong
Very good location, close to everything (metro station, plaza catalynua, port, food , shopping etc) no refrigerator
Arc La Rambla is situated in an excellent location - close to all amenities. I booked a double room -superior but got a twin room - then we were moved to a double room on request but this room had no view - was very disappointed. We could not understand having booked a double room and ended up with a twin room- first room was lovely with the view. However the staff were friendly and rooms were clean. On the hotel paperwork it stated double superior room.
Very convenient location for all tourist attractions.
excellent value for money, clean, friendly staff, we will be returning later in the year all the room needed was a kettle and tea making facilities
The hotel is very small compare to other hotel round the corner . when i was there the air condition was not working . i have to sleep with all my window open and i was at the first floor . it was a bad experience the rooms are to small . where as for an extra 10 euro you get a much bigger room just along the street
location room was very basic, breakfast was poor
Good position and value. Thin walls. Could be noisy, but during my stay I heart only the houskeepers pushing their carts in the morning.
clean and tidy no iron
there was an acident, we lost a mobile phone, and receptionists were very-very kind and helpful in the process of searching. thanks and thanks again. the front of hotel and the hall need an urgent cosmetic facelift. rooms alright.
i liked the fact that the hotel its in the middle of everything and its quite friendly.
The location, and the staff was helpful The bed were hard and not comfortable and the double beds kept getting apart from eachother
The room was a bit smaller than we espected but was really good. My sister's family was in a larger room (same price), but it was near the air-conditioning.
Location was excellent. Bath room was stinking moldy.
Location was very good Nothing
it is right on the Ramblas, so access to everything was good, including the metro and transport links. There was some building work going on,that we were not told about, on our floor, although it started early in morning they did try to keep the noise to a minimum
There was nothing much to like. The staff was surly and astonishingly unhelpful, they gave me the wrong room, then hours later the right room but the wrong keys. The problems were endless. The staff was horrible. Things didn't work but they wouldn't fix them or move me to another room. Lots of other people's hair in the bathroom.
Excellent location No complaints
Everything with hotel was great except my only complaint was they would not give me an iron told me I had to get that service paid for which annoyed me the most. That the hotel would not give me at iron
The place of the Hotel. Right on the Rambla
Good sized rooms. Clean & tidy. Great location.
Generally Ok, nothing in particular The price did not include breakfast, surpricing!
Our stay was very pleasant and the staff were all very helpful and kind. Super clean and nice rooms. I would recommend this hotel to all my friends.
Large room, excellent facilities
Very close to the Metro The bed had a rubberised undersheet, very hot and sweaty! Room was very noisy.
the proximity to the underground station, the quietness and cleanliness of the room.
Proximity to the city sights Small and often unattended bar.Street side room was noisy and had to move to the rear of hotel.
The location was great for seeing the sights and shopping in Barcelona. The room was updated, clean and comfortable. The staff was helpful and friendly.
big room & toilet with tube and shower , friendly staff talking english, location is perfect, metro is exactly near the hotel's door and by walk to ramblas it take 10 min breakfast was limited and the plates was sometimes dirty & wet
Very convenient location, friendly and helpful staff, clean comfortable rooms. Would have been nice if the pool was heated in the autumn
Location and the staff are top Seemed understaffed on the rooftop bar. Rooms can be dark and without a view
Location; rooftop terrace great to find in city; comforatble room; friendly staff Not really - there is some noise from the street - mainly sirens - think ambulance service must be based nearby, but nothing you wouldn't expect in a city - didn't disturb my sleep anyway.
Location excellent, price affordable! Very happy with hotel!
Small friendly hotel, staff very helpful
Excellent hotel, will return Small power outage
The pool on the roof rocks!!!!! The services and staff were very pleasent and helpful. I would have no hesitation in recommending you or coming back for another visit!
The hotel was in an excellent location, five minutes' walk from the Ramblas. The rooms were very good, beautiful bathroom, friendly staff. They didn't come to tidy up the room until the afternoon when we were having a siesta.
the bed was very comfortable and the room had a good size. good location. thin walls so everything outside my room was heard. especialy the cleaners oppening and slamming doors in the morning. my room faced a noisy street with no noise isolatiin. when i arrived and went up to the room i had to wait 10 minutes outside the door for them to finish cleaning it. the TV did not work.
excellent location ,beatifull terrace
nice terrace, view the harbor first night room into the inside (dark), I was offered a better room for the next 3 nights to the same rate (port view)
made our first vist really pleasant wit very good all round service. very convenient to explore area for food, shops and sight seeing
Central location.Room with a nice view.Rooftop for evening drink. No
pleasant staff, location in the city center, good breakfast incl in price for room cleanliness of the room, esp. bathroom
Good location,nice staff,clean&well equipped room,
The location The cleaniness, breakfast too crowded
The price, excellent location and very friendly and helpful reception staff. Rooms can be a bit noisy as no carpets in rooms or corridors.
Helpful staff, basic accommodation but well priced breakfast buffet
good location, just of La Ramba, well lit area.
The Location Nothing
The best of Aparthotel Gutenberg is without any doubt the location
Staff very helpful.Provided good breakfast..also had good internet service.Good location for sightseeing and shopping...convenient
Short walk to Las Ramblas. Right next to Metro. Paying for parking
Clean, beds were comfortable, friendly staff, close to port (10 minute walk)
The room looked like the room on the website when I booked it. I'm a light sleeper so the fact that it was quite and there was very little internal noise was great. When we were there there was a general strike and the hotel put up notices to advise guests of this unlike some other hotels that I'm aware of. The hairdryer was in the bathroom and was one of those ones that is just a hose. Guests should definately bring their own hair dryer!!
Very functional, very central, very clean and tidy. Staff were very polite, helpful and pleasant. No
The breakfast buffet was fantastic! The facilities were great, the staff was friendly and super helpful, the cleaning staff was also very nice. The room was also great! Overall experience was wonderful!
Great location to las rambals street and the beach, beds were comfortable and the bathroom amenities were great. The pre-requested iron and board were not in the room. Also out electricity would go out after using the iron, it delayed our visit to the city
Very friendly, helpful staff, good location, and quiet.
Convenirnt for Port & Cruise Ships and City
Close to tourist attractions , La Rambla is about a 15min walk away There were bed bugs in my room and i have been severly bitten. Other than that, the hotel was ok. i hope that this issue will be resolved as it would be shame to see this hotel go down as its in a good location
the location of the hotel 1) the AC wasnt working in the room they had to change us to another room after 2 days 2) one of the members of our group cancelled at the last minute. We requested they reduce our room from a triple to a twin, they agreed. However at checkout they said booking.com would still charge them commission for a triple and hence made us pay alomost the whole amount for a triple (despite us staying in a twin room for the duration). They gave us a small discount for each night. Not acceptable.
I liked it's proximity to where I was working Lack of English TV chanels
friendly staffs nothing
Proximity La Ramblas. Having a balcony. No bar fridge. The morning we left the credit card line was down and we were more or less demanded to pay cash. We didn't have the full amount due on us nor wanted to part with our cash so we had to coerce the staff into doing a manual transaction on the phone which he complained about. The free wireless is only on the first floor and was switched off a couple of times and was in a room that did not have air conditioning. I was also approached by a person off the street while on level one using my laptop on level 1 if I would allow them to use my room for a shower. I said no but felt this may be a problem for some.
very expensive. not good value or money at all
Location Bedding seemed to be old. Beds were comfortable though.
Great location and friendly staff Poor soundproofing of rooms and was noisy both late at night and early morning
the location, the staff was very helpfull
Location and room accomdations next to Palace Guell in a Gaudi like hotel decor some noise level from other rooms/hallway but not bad
It was in the centre of the city. Convenient location. The room had only a window facing to walls (φωταγωγό) althought I had ask for nice view and the people had told me that it was ok.
locality would have been helpfull if security cameras were installed as we were nearly robbed at night and this would have proved helpfull.
great roof desk with amazing views of the city! Close to Las Ramblas which is nice but the street the actual hotel is on is NOT in a good area. Homeless people sleeping directly outside the door. Did not feel safe walking at night down the street to get to and from the hotel. Our room was assigned to another guest the same day-- as I was getting out of the shower-- there was another group entering the room with a hotel key the front desk had given them... it was understandably a mistake but still.... a little scary...and very awkward! Beds are VERY hard!
i like the location (very close to the center of the city) and the view from the rooms (we were on the last floor and had amazing views of Bracelona)
location; room and bathroom with good sizes. no wireless.
It is very central. I slept like a log as the blackout curtains totally blocked the sun light and the double glazing was really soundproof. Although, we were in Las Ramblas pedestrian walk I could not hear a thing. I also liked the mattress a lot. I think they could have offered us bathrobes and slippers. I can do without bathrobes but not without slippers as I had to walk barefoot in the bathroom.
Hotel is not even close to 4 stars standard. Should be classified as 3 stars
The Hotel Grums was excellent value, the rooms are modern and a good size. Staff were helpful and pleasant. The hotel has a nice atmosphere.
Don't pre-pay. They can never figure it out. They always try to charge you again when you are checking out. The first time when I didn't know they have this issue and my company pre-paid they even managed to convince me to pay again on check-out. I never got my money back either.
Location - close to cruise port, Port Vell, La Rambla. Super helpful staff. Generally comfortable. Shower panel too short allowing water to spill into bathroom. Need maintenance because of spills. Not enough storage for luggage.
Used the outdoor swimming pool - it was great to have this outdoor space. The hotel location was excellent for getting around, and it was peaceful, too. We didn't have breakfast there, as it was a bit expensive.
the location price of brekfast
Shower , interner and televison were nice. Also to be able to check EMail and work near the pool. Neighbourhood was a bit spooky at night
I like the location of the hotel. Nearby everything The swimming pool was broken for almost a week and they didn't let us know anything, if we had knew it we had booked an other hotel because we booked this hotel because of the location and the swimming pool. The staff was not helpfull at all. The only friendly person at the hotel was the cleaning lady. The water of our bad was dripping into the room below us. The hotel was not good.
Front desk staff very helpful and attentive, went the extra mile just excellent skin moistureriser and hair conditioner
The staff at this hotel were wonderful, very helpful and informative. The room was large with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in! The location was great for walking around and seeing Barcelona. On the day we were to check out there was an issue with the hot water, I phoned the front desk who were already solving the problem. They extended our stay and informed us constantly regarding what was happening and how long they thought it would take to get fixed. The information was very accurate and helpful. Room service menu could do with being extended, also was quite pricey for the quality --- normally I wouldnt notice this as in such a location you dont eat in the hotel, I unfortunately was not able to go out so needed to resort to room service.
The location was excellent. Our reservation had been lost when we arrived in the hotel, despite the fact that I had called there a couple of days before and confirmed that everything was ok. However, we got a room although the hotel was fully booked, but unfortunately the room had a window only to the inner yard so there was very little natural light.
The location was fantastic, wonderful welcoming staff and very clean. I was disappointed that I specifically asked one of the hotel desk staff for information on costs to make a call internationally. I had various options including a pay phone in the lobby. On his advice I opted to make the call from my room big mistake. The call never got connected properly and cost me a fortune, it left a bitter taste in my mouth when we paid the bill to leave. Which was a shame as it put a bit of a dampner on an otherwise perfect stay at the hotel.
Very convenient location and the room is very comfortable.
The location was perfect. Right in the center of Barcelona. Close to the Ramblas, the old part of the city, close to Barceloneta, the beach...
The location was perfect and the hotel more than adequate for a city break. Breakfast, although it would have been ok for anyone with a sweet tooth. Some bread or rolls and some fruit would have been very welcome.
Very friendly and helpful personnel. Excellent location. Spacious, clean and comfortable rooms. Breakfast (simple) included in the price. Excellent value for money.
Very good location, very friendly reception staff, good value for money, very good breakfast The hot drinks machine in lounge didn't seem to work.
The location was fabulous. The rooms are not luxury, but they were clean and sufficient for a night's sleep. The staff was accomodating and the continental breakfast was enough to get you going in the morning. We had a double bed and a twin bed - small for us - and not especially comfortable but worth it for the location.
I liked the room service, its location and hotel staff as well. I would have preferred the breakfast to be served at least until 10 o'clock.
I appriciate the friendly hotel stuff. They were very helpful.
