The Old Vicarage Hotel & Restaurant is one of the oldest buildings in Bridgwater, with some parts dating back to the 14th century. The property has undergone extensive renovations to the oldest parts of the property, including 9 of the bedrooms, in 2019. The bar and restaurant serves lunch, evening meals and we offer all our guest a continental breakfast buffet with home cooked traditional as well. Situated in the heart of the town centre, there is a garden and patio area, where guests can enjoy their morning coffee, lunch or a drink. Just off of the M5 at Junction 24, the hotel is close to many attractions such as Cheddar Gorge, Quantock Hills, Glastonbury, Wells, Wookey Hole and the city of Bristol.

Pros:The idea of staying in a former Vicarage was what drew me to this place. Gary, whose a man wearing multiple hats (reception, front desk, baggage handler and morning breakfast host/organizer/cleaner is a real gem. He's friendly and very attentive. The location is directly across from a beautiful church and near shops and restaurants. We walked around the area and loved the history we saw. Unfortunately, we were travelling between locations so this was only a night stay. The room had character with a very old beam running through the ceiling (dark and aged). The bed was comfortable enough. The room was showing it's age but I think they're doing some updating. The building is very old so you'll see and experience that so be prepared for aged facilities.. There's a small garden out back with seating. The breakfast offered a nice variety of options and was included in the price which for us is a bonus.
Cons:The carpet in our room definitely needed a clean,. The location of the parking was a little difficult to figure out after we went around the blocks a few time (we missed the signage). It's quite a narrow entry into a small courtyard. Longer and bigger cars may find it tricky getting in especially if there are cars parked across on the road. After much back and forth, driving in reverse and with the aid of Gary and my husband I managed to get the vehicle parked. We were on the first floor and we did experience a fair amount of noise coming through the ceiling from up above quite late into the evening. We did get to sleep but be aware you'll hear people above.
Pros:Cant beat it. Good value. Just like being at home
