Cons: The rate quoted was not the rate we paid. Plus, the deposit was three times the amount of the rental. When we returned the car, the deposit was refunded, but that would be good to know before arriving. We also requested an SUV but received a way smaller car. We made do because we had family in the country, but next time we will rent a bigger car than an SUV.

Cons: We arrive on time to Avis with are rental order. They did not had the car we order. Also they did not accepted the car insurance we bought though the order that we did in Kayak. They end up giving us a total new order. Supposedly the car we order was going to be ready in 2 day but nothing.

Cons: Pick Up was confusing. They close early as compared to other rental companies. People prefer other companies because of their flexibility.

Poor Customer Service - Car was fine
Pros: The car was in good condition, easy to drive, comfortable
Cons: When I arrived in Guatemala, the Avis desk was closed so I had to seek out their secondary rental desk. The online offer was very inaccurate, and the actual cost was almost 6 times more than what I signed up for and what was listed on my offer email. I also paid for a GPS that didn't work, and they refused to refund me, even after I was forced to use my phone during my stay.

Rallied about Guatemala
Pros: Car was in good condition.
Sales clerks Carlos and ? Were wonderfully helpful.
Had a great driving experience.
Cons: First car battery was low, didn't start.
They brought in a second car immediately :)

A total disaster
Pros: I didn't like anything. Avis ruined my vacation. Kayak offered me and sold me the worst deal. It was not what they promised me.
Cons: The deal on the rental car was not real. I went to pick up the car in Guatemala city, and the price was 3 times the amount they promised. On top of that, Avis was forcing me to buy their own company insurance in addition to the Alliance insurance i had paid for, they said , whatever i was offered online through Kayak had nothing to do with their business. I cancelled the deal. I won't do it again. Same thing happened to my sister and husband, we won't do business any business with you any more and we will keep spreading the word around so it will not happen to others. Its just not worth it the time we put in to do the process.

Cons: At the time of booking I purchased insurance, when I got to the pickup location the insurance was not accepted by AVIS, I had to cancel my insurance (this insurance was full coverage with no deductible).
I had to purchase a more expensive insurance with a really high deductible with less coverage.
Deductible was $1500 with no coverage for minor damage.
Cons: The was no sign were to drop off the car so we drove into a parking lot having to pay 2,5 dollar to exit it again. The clerk told us that there usually is a sign but it was taken away that morning for some reason.

Pros: The personnel were professional and helpful both at check-out in Antigua and check-in in Guatemala City and the car worked wonderfully. And the drop-off charges were nominal.

Didn't fulfill my reservation
Pros: Abosutelly nothing.
Cons: I made a reservation a week in advance for an economy car to pick it up at La Aurora Airport in Guatemala. I called them as my making my way there to pick up the car, they pulled up my reservation and they said "Sorry, we don't have cars." I told the person on the phone that I had made a reservation a week in advance and that I needed the car, she replied "sorry, we don't have cars". I asked her if they had cars in another of their locations in the city, again "sorry, we don't have cars". I asked if they had another type of car, I got the same "sorry, we don't have cars". I was never notified of this. I called two hours in advance before pick up the car so it wasn't like I showed up late to pick it up. I was never offered a way to solve this problem, something like giving me another type of car at the price of my reservation or even getting me a car from another company. I was left out to figure it out on my own in a third world country, I had a tight travel schedule so I needed a car at that moment. After two hours of searching around I had to bite the bullet and rent a car for THREE times more money that what I made my reservation for. I even went on Budget's website and it said they DID have cars! I am never renting with them again and if you don't want to be left out in the wind in a third world country shouldn't do you.

Budget Agent Dishonest
Cons: We had made reservations for two compact cars. The rental agent told us that they did not have the vehicles that we had reserved, and that they did not have any vehicles. I believe that they did in fact have vehicles for rent, but did not want to rent to us at the discounted price we got through Kayak. We witnessed the agent signing agreements with other customers that had arrived after us. I will not be renting from Budget in Guatemala or anywhere else again.

Ok but.......unit not so good.
Pros: Attention when arrived
Cons: 1. Time too long when picking up the car.
2. Vehicle was not in the best conditions. Seems it has been damaged a lot, didn't drive well, transmition seems to have problems.

Pros: I have reserved a sedan and they only had a pickup.
we were 4 persons and could not leave the baggae on the bed with no security. We end up going with another rental company and had to pay almost as twice as much that what we have booked with Budget.
Cons: Nobody was at the office to meet us. Nobody ever showed up and there wasn't a phone number listed to call them.

Pros: Well they did not have the vehicle I had reserved. They did upgrade me to a van type vehicle but was stick shift. No real issues just not my first choice from an SUV. The staff friendly and helpful no complaints on them.
Cons: Well I purchased insurance through Kayak. When arrived I got hit with an additional $200 and some dollars in insurance that was mandatory. I showed them insurance purchased and they said yes but does not cover all so I ended up paying over $350 in insurance. Just wish they were upfront before reserving car.

Terrible PAYLESS experience in Guatemala City
Cons: Extorted money for "mandatory" insurance, despite having paid for full insurance through Payless/Kayak. Car was worse then the car I learned to drive on(1971 VW bus), the brake light was taped on, headlights were positioned incorrectly, you could only see in the dark while going up a hill, even with high beams. When idling the whole car shook like we were having a huge earthquake. And the car felt like it only had 2 cylinders. Very bad experience.

Worst rental experience
Pros: The rental price was descent
Cons: There was a $900 deposit plus mandatory additional insurance, none of this was on the website
Cons: I didn't like that they don't include the insurance prices.

Good Car - Scary
Pros: The rental price was acceptable and it was easy to make the reservation. The car was in good condition and while the engine was weak (Guatemala has a lot of hills were it struggled), the gas efficiency was excellent.
Cons: I tried calling the actual agency in Guatemala weeks before the trip and several times when I was there and they never answered the phone. I found out later that the phone number online was an old phone number.
When I inquired about auto insurance when we got there, we found out that it would have tripled the cost of the rental. Thank goodness I had purchased it in the US prior to travel when I reserved the car.
They also put an enormous hold on my credit card .
After I returned the car, they did not give me all of the signed credit vouchers they had, which made me very nervous. I will have to monitor my credit card closely for ever now.

Good people, not much saving
Pros: Friendly staff, great vehicle, no problems at all.
Cons: i called enterprise to get a quote on a car seat and the rates are different from the website and i was given wrong info, when i showed up they wanted to charge me $12 a day!!! i refused and bought one at a walmart instead. Insurance was forced on me without having the credit card disclosure where it shows i have coverage.

Cons: I got a Insurance from the web page, but when I got to the pick up place, they told my the insurace I buy did not cover the car I rented, so had to get another insurance at the pick up place, and the price doble the cost of the car.
