Branch not open for regular flight arrival
Cons: My flight arrived ON TIME, as schedule, but the avis branch at this airport closed two hours before. I had a reservation that included my flight information. When I contacted AVIS's toll-free number, they simply stated that the branch was closed and there was nothing they could do. I was unable to rent from AVIS, ended up with a large taxi fare to the hotel and a subsequent rental at another company.

Pros: I was upgraded to a nice vehicle. For a small operation they gave good customer service. Easy pick up easy drop off and a clean vehicle. Everything I expected and more.
Cons: Nothing, my experience was positive.

Ripped-off by the Walla Walla Airport Avis
Cons: I had an Avis rental scheduled for four days for $104.00, but I ended up getting charged over $440. I scheduled the pick up for 12:00 pm. the next day after I flew in to the Walla Walla Airport because the rental site was listed as closed after 6:00 pm. However, when I arrived they were open, so I checked in and asked if I could pick it up that evening and pay for an extra day. The desk clerk was very pleasant and worked on the reservation and told me that it would cost a little bit extra to re-reserve. When I returned the car in Spokane I discovered the $440 charge. The Spokane Airport Avis couldn't help me, and I've tried calling the Walla Walla location, but they never answer. The clerk could have informed me that the cost would more than DOUBLE to make the change, or she could have even rented me a car for one day and then linked the two reservations together.
Pros: I have never had a quicker or more pleasant car rental experience. The first vehicle we got had mechanical issues and even the exchange process was so fast and easy that I went away happier.

Cons: Car was not available until 2 hours after the booked time. Car was not cleaned of the previous customer’s french fries.

Slow counter help; no gas; dirty car.
Cons: 1. I waited approximately one hour at the rental counter before I was able to pick up my car keys. There are only 2 people ahead of me. The agent was just slow.
2. Once I got in the car and turned it on, it was immediately noticed that there was less than a quarter tank of gas in the car.
3. The car had not been cleaned on the inside or outside. There was trash from a Subway sandwich on the center console. The previous renters resume was on the floor beside me. The driver side rear wheel had been scratched and was dented.

Convenient checkout, excellent value
Pros: Very quick checkout of car, no hard sales pitch.
Cons: I had to make a trip back to the car to get mileage and gas reading. The counter person was unable to leave the desk to do it herself. No big deal, I just didn't realize that they'd trust me to fill out the return form.

Pros: Pick up/drop off went very well
Cons: Car wasn't cleaned - I didn't care about the outside of the car, the roads were a mess because of the snow, so that didn't matter. But, the inside had clearly not been touched (crumbs, and some wrappers). Not horrible or gross, but obviously needed someone to have looked inside!
Cons: The "off site" issue was not clearly delineated on line.
They called a day before to confirm, and left a message.
I called back several times, no answer
I arrived at Lewiston airport and found they were off site, so called again. No answer.
I finally booked with Hertz for an extra $100. Would have booked with them originally at a lower price if I had known.

Pros: Niall was professional and extremely courteous and helpful. He was patient in answering our many questions at pick up.
Cons: There didn't seem to be quite enough staff when we were returning the vehicle--or it may have just been a busy day!
Pros: After we dropped off our car, we discovered that our flight had been cancelled and we would have to stay another night in Pullman. When we tried to rent another car, we were dismayed to discover that there aren't any available But the Hertz agent went way out of her way to locate a car for us. We were so grateful for all her patience and persistence!

Easy & Convenient
Pros: Hertz is located inside the airport terminal at Lewiston, ID so picking up my Hertz car was very quick and convenient. I had prepaid online, so the whole pick up process took about 5 minutes. Friendly staff.

Best customer service ever
Pros: The check out agent saw that our rate was too high and changed it immediately to a third of the price. We will certainly be back!
