Make sure the Hertz center will accept your bank c
Pros: The car was good and the price was great.
Cons: Not all Hertz centers will accept established bank debit cards. I was not notified of this when I made my reservation at a particular one. They only take major credit cards, so my Visa debit card was not good enough (and no, it's not a prepaid debit card, it's linked to a permanent checking/savings and is stated as such on the face of the card.)
So, I had to pay $20 to Uber from that shop to another that would accept by Visa card. Got there and then had to just wait because the SERVERS WERE DOWN and apparently they can't do manual contracts without some server access.
Altogether, this delayed my start time for a trip by 3 hours, sending me out in the middle of holiday rush hour, which delayed me another 45 minutes. It ended up being too late to make it to my destination, so I had to blow $100 on a hotel stay and got to where I was headed the next morning.
Thanks, Hertz. See you never.

Traveled 1.5 hours and waited 30 mins to be denied
Pros: Nothing. There wasn't a single positive part of my experience.
Cons: I left work early and traveled almost 90 mins to get to Hertz. I confirmed with a woman on the phone what time I would be there earlier that day and yet when I arrived on time, there was a sign on the office saying they would be back 30 mins after we had arranged.
I waited the 30 mins then went inside only to be told that reservations couldn't be made with a debit/credit card, only a credit card. I made the reservation with a debit/credit card, and I spoke to the representative on the phone. At no point did anyone warn me that I wouldn't be able to use my card.
They offered to pay part of the cost to Uber out to a Hertz that took debit/credit cards, but that store didn't have any economy in stock. I wasn't offered an upgrade or anything. I was told of two nearby car rental places and ended up walking to both of them in the cold before taking public transportation back home.
This was by far one of the worst customer experiences of my life. Now I know to just take the Greyhound bus when I have to travel. Clearly Hertz as a company doesn't have their act together, since two franchises failed me.

Pros: Good price.
Cons: Only open until 6:00 pm and could pick-up car
Pros: "Jon" (didn't catch his last name) did everything to make this great. He waived a drop off fee and gave us a break on gas, plus he gave us a larger car than we paid for.
This may be my best rental experience ever.

Pros: The car was very clean and a great value. This staff at the Weymouth MA location where the vehicle was picked up and dropped off were friendly, personable and accommodating!
