Central location Receptionist did not know where Queenstown was (I know it's now Cobh, but it is less than 10 miles away & there is a well publicised Heritage Centre there. More education on tourist info needed
Good central location in cork with easy access to shops restaurants pubs etc but apart from location a little below average for the price. All and all mediocre at best. No Parking which was a complete nightmare, the hotel does have parking but it is first come first served so when we arrived on friday evening there was none available and no on street available eiter. This meant we ended up paying €20 for parking which I wish we had have put towards a nicer hotel room.
It was central to all local amenties I thought the breakfast was bad value for money nd to expensive for what was served -
It was within walking distance of city centre The hotel car park was small and did not have room for all guests staying at the hotel
I was not happy to discover that they do not have a car park for guests to park their cars. There is a carpark nextdoor but if you wished to park your car there for the night, there would be a charge of thirty euro which I thought was outrageous.
Location Freezing room...radiators on timer no control of the heat
Location Stopped serving breakfast at 10.00 am
Great location - near the centre, railway station and bus station. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Nice feel to the hotel. Nothing.
The location was excellent in the centre of Cork with easy access to the City centre on foot. We would have appreciated air conditioning as opening the window resulted in traffic noise.
The service and staff was extremely good also had food in Kudos which we really enjoyed, The room we stayed in had no heat and it was a very cold night and when we contacted staff member they got us to move which was all done very quickly but it was very inconvenient at 10 pm ish.
Convenience to centre of town and also the cleanliness of the hotel Not able to open windows so the rooms were a little stuffy. Only way to cool room was to put on air conditioning. If we were to stay there again we would insist on a room facing outward. The price per night was quite expensive as breakfast was not included. To take breakfast in the hotel would make it just a little too dear per night. We were able to get a really nice breakfast just a short walk into town at less than half the price.
Very nice service employees, even the cleaing personal was nice and intelligent. Keep on with this! Perhaps you should make it possible to isolate the doors a little bit more, not totally (Room 241). Every talking on the aisle can be heard. This has nothing to do with the particular case of the strange guitar player and choir at 3 to 6 a.m. in the next room, which was apologized and rewarded.
modern amenities. great proximity to Cork City centre and shops, dining, etc. No fault of the hotel, but the construction out front is a bit of a pain.
Central and staff courtesy
The staff were very pleasant and the rooms were very clean and well maintained
Breakfast was way to expensive 18 euro plus 5 euro room service is way to expensive!!!
A very pleasant, comfortable and quiet hotel.
Great Location! Very nice hotel. Restaurant was very good too. Staff (all but one!) were friendly and helpful. The heat! We were on the top floor and the heat in the hall/room was very uncomfortable.
Access to the gym and parking were both very convenient. Excellent location and friendly staff. The beds could have been a bit firmer.
Everything, by far the best hotel I have ever stayed in, from the building itself to the staff. Excellent. The management of the Clarion should be proud of the customer experience it's staff provides. I look forward to my next stay in the Clarion.
Location, staff and restaurant A couple of the bathroom fittings in room 110 were loose (handle on WC cistern, and seat)
man made waterfall by the restaurant made the stay even more relaxing
The helpfulness of Hazel the receptionist
The smells of the kitchen and the noise of the cooker hoof/ airco where drifting in our room from 7.15h till 00.00h.
The reception area has a nice seating area to relax after eating or prior to retiering for the evening The access (lift) and stairwells are not the best and could do with modernisation.
The room is very comfortable and it is good location. Would recommend hotel. It is quite noisy in the mornings. The cleaning staff were slamming doors in the hallway so it was difficult to sleep.
the room & facilities are excellent, better than most places iv stayed in which over the odds were payed. 65euro for 2 people - great value. stayed here b4 too and it was more so nice to see bit of value.don't have to check out til 12pm - amazing! it was all good
The staff were very helpfull and the room was very comfortable. Nothing....
Location, bed was massive Charged for room cleaning and noise from street
Rooms Noise outside and heat in rooms
the recognition of myself when I entered the hotel and said I had a reservation, my name was said by Geraldine, the receptionist. The concierge was also helpful when I was looking for a nearby building.
Very beautiful hotel, especially for the price! Perfect location and friendly staff! Cannot go wrong! Nothing to complain about! Excellent!
Comfortable Bed and location All OK
The hotel is in a great location and we were able to park nearby which is a plus for a city hotel without a car park The rooms are very small but it is an old hotel and there is very little you can do about that
Poor hot water supply
v central to cork city. lovely old style hotel
Very comfortable beds! Friendly service The fact that you had to book to use the spa pool was not clearly pointed out upon check in, meaning we missed out on going. A mini bar would have been nice!
How close it was to the city centre The price, and the fact I had to pay for breakfast!!
Friendly staff. Very good standard of room. Lack of food selection at 10.00 pm and 11.00 am
staff very good
Nice lobby and downstairs Bedrooms were very dated and needed renovation, unbearably hot, tv with very bad picture (old bulky tv) paint peeling off bathroom ceiling and nigh on impossible to get mixer tap for shower to give right temperature!
Close to City Parking was difficult
clean room,friendly staff cant complain
Not far from Shopping
The location of the hotel was my prime consideration. It was perfectly placed in relation to clients that I was visiting. Wi-fi reception was a bit hit and miss
The room was too small for two people. It would be suited as a single room.
Easy to find.Good location across the river from bus station and main shopping street and bars. RC church close by. Walking distance from train station. On site leisure facilities/swimming. Bring your gym kit as well as swimming costume. Friendly staff everywhere. Pleasant room overlooking the river. Self serve breakfast in lovely dining room, adequate choice. Impressive spacious, welcoming & luxurious foyer with relaxed atmosphere. Fire doors in corridors noisy but understand their importance so not complaining.Prolonged smell of cigarette smoke in our room one night, penetrating from another room, I think, which I didn't like, but realised I hadn't specified non smoking room when checking in, not sure if it would have made a difference. One of the lifts was out of order.Didn't eat in bar as nothing on menu appealed to us and bar area not particularly inviting. Are you missing an opportunity?
Girls at reception extremelly friendly Bar food, really really bad. Not even 2star standard. Left the ceaser salad it was so bad. Bar staff under hugh pressure
Our room was great, and the price was great value also. Also room service was perfect, and the food very good, and great quality. Our room was very cold when we arrived. And we were told we couldn't have any heating until 9 o clock. which we found to be unbelieveable. We were offered a small heater, but with the bathroom to cold to enjoy a bath, before heading out, it was very disappointing, and also took the joy out of what you a hotel, which is some warmth and luxury..We had to put on extra clothes, forgoe our baths/showers, and make the best of it, but it wasn't comfortable until the next day, when the heating had been on for a while...Also we couldn't get the music system to work, and a porter checked it, and said maybe it was our Cd's? And said nothing could be done about it, as you had none to spare..which was also a bit dissapointing, as we had CDs of the band we were down from dublin to see at the marquee, and when we saw the player, were delighted as thought we could play the CDs beforehand, to find out we couldn't. Although later that evening, my husband cleaned the player, and we got it going, but leading up to going out, we were cold, and couldn't play the music...Also the bar and reception couyld be made more welcoming visually, it all looks a bit vast and cold....
Convenient to the City , Raaailwaay etc.
great location for bus/train and city centre i suppose its just like most hotels nothing very personal
friendly staff, parking, location, needs updating
Large comfortable room right in city centre I think that for the price I paid breakfast should have been included
the hotel is overpriced, the rooms are extremely basic
Location and friendlines of staff Problem with warm water from cold tap
The location is exellent, in the heart of the city, close to main shops, with interesting local pubs. The staff are very pleasent, helpful, obliging, they work hard and smile easily. The breakfast was very good. The room was so cold,it became unbearable, none of the radiators on the landing outside our room were turned on, there was absolutely no heat coming from our radiator, the draught coming through the window were my bed was situated was horrendous, both my friend and i got into our beds fully clothed, with scarves and gloves, and I eventually had to share my friends bed to gain some body heat. my son swapped rooms with us, because his radiator was working. we were awake for most of the night because of the cold
The sweets on the counter, the location, generous bedding provision the smell in the room, not being able to put our passports in the safe because the manger wasn't there at the time.
caught up with friends , used the city as a central meeting point , also did some shopping
It is very near city centre and bus station. Located at a very quiet street
Room was clean and warm, shower and TV worked properly. Staff were friendly and helpful. Service was prompt. Decor dated, hotel parking limited, stairs very steep. Light over 1 bed did not work. This is an older hotel so it is difficult to bring it to the standard of a moden hotel but we felt this should be reflected in the price. The hotel could make better use of their great location and history in the area and improve bar and restaurant facilities to bring more local customers to the hotel and to encourage residents to use those facilities more. Breadfast was ordinary enough, could have been more "gourmet" with much better choices. Local cafe offered a better breakfast for less. Hotel bar closed at 11pm, you could only get bottled drinks from night porter. Felt overall we were paying a lot for the room and for breakfast (which was extra).
Good location, not far from the center and bus station; however music bars across the street can be noisy on a weekend night The building doesn't look too good on the outside, however the room was good. The continental breakfast paid separately wasn't impressive, I should have tried an Irish one at the surrounding pubs.
