Scenery was pleasent but it was a little bit uphill slope to climb! The hotel. Generally if I go to malta I would prefer it again.
amazing choice of breakfast! great location and nice pool area. Great being able to sit outside for a drink in the evening. towels and bed a bit hard, decor old fashioned - could have made more use of fabulous position
Just returned from Hotel Hilton Malta feeling very relaxed. Hotel was great with excellent restaurants on site and within walking distance at the marina and nearby Spinola Bay,
the atmosphere was great and relaxing and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly the water was a bit expensive...make sure that you purchase it from the grocery next door....bottle of water in hotel cost euro 4.5
Staff were all v. v. friendly, location, breakfast is one of the best Hilton breakfasts I've had, pools, good offer on the spa on a rainy day. Room cleaning was not up to scratch, it was of the 'lick and a promise' variety. Bed changed only once during 7 nights' stay, @ €415 per night...Housekeeping walks straight in without knocking, which is really not on. Car park is a very strange affair with hidden lifts and level 5 inside the hotel is level 0 in the car park, utterly confusing.
Large and quiet room, nice decor, location next to the bay. Very good Thai restaurant. Poor quality of breakfast. Pooor quality of dinner in the main restaurant. Sheets were not changed daily. Very aggressive communication such as "you mustn't touch anything in the minibar or you will be charged a fortune". The hotel blocked 400eur on my credit card for two weeks.
A very good hotel with good facilities. Clean and accommodating staff. May be a little difficult to access sea due to sea conditions. However, 4 large swimming pools available
The executive lounge was very good for breakfast and pre dinner drinks, felt that it should have stayed open for after dinner drinks.Good location. Access to certain parts of the building required changing lifts.
the staff where very nice polite and helpfull, the entertainment was good and the bar at the deck was excellent
The pool area and sun deck and very nice, and the food, especially breakfasts were superb Extremely noisy neighbours, playing load music late at night
Central location and friendly staff. The rooms are in need of redecoration. On the second day the lift did not work.
The staff was really kind none
Lobby Late night noise - and wake up call did not come as requested.
Good price, value for money. A/c was a blessing after walking around in heat all day. Location was good, close to busses and tours, shopping/eating. Tv didn't work well.
Nothing about the Hotel. Maybe the location Dirty room. Smell of smoke from cigaretts all the time. Aircon not working. The room looked nothing like the pictures. Smelly beds. I stayed in a lot of hotels around the world. And this for sure cant be a 4 star hotel maybe 2star. I booked a 4 star hotel with booking.com two weeks ago in Valencia that was exellent.
Well located and excellent value for off season rate Could do with a refurb - listed as 4 star in reality 3 star
poor air-con, this has been an issue for the past three years!
Location is really very good. I don´t know how other people and their experiences, but this is NOT 4star rated hotel...
Hotel was located in tourist area. Nice resturants nearby. Hotel breakfast was good and inexpensive. A bit noisey in the mornings (believe some renovation work was underway). Air conditioning inside room was weak.
the most thing i liked about the hotel is its location which is close to the cafes and the shoping area the size of the room,it is very small.the AC was not cooling
The location was okay and the view from the rooftop was nice. The hotel is not clean at all and you have to pay for every service, in the offer I booked the wifi was for free but when we arrived there we had to pay for the wifi. Also we ordered a plate and a fork for the room and we had to pay 2 euros for that! It was really not a nice experience at all.
The location is great, the staff very helpful & a good clean restaurant. A little noisy at weekends as the hotel is in the heart of partyland.
the attached restaurant facilities and the friendliness of receptionists no 'do not disturb' notice and door opened by maid early a.m. Not easily noticed in road except for restaurant signs
We arrived on Friday night and were a bit taken aback that the hotel is in the middle of clubland, which unfortunately made our room noisy on Friday and Saturday nights. However, the staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful and the general ambience of the hotel was lovely. The food was excellent and the service was second to none. The room, although on the small side, was spotlessly clean and the location is excellent in terms of proximity to the heart of St Julians. All in all excellent value for money.
Great central location, friendly hotel staff, great food menu in hotel. Would stay here again Carpet very old and worn on corridors
It was near all of the shops, eating areas, prominade, etc. It suited what I needed in being able to rest and be alone. It was very loud at night, so at times it was hard to sleep because the restaurant below was open all night.
Nothing really. Extremely dirty, the pillow looks like has been using for 20 years without any cleaning and washing. bed sheet is horrible, wouldn't want to touch anything in this 'hotel', not even the towels. to be honest i'd rather sleep in the lobby than in that bed. thanks god i am home and if i am going to malta again, i'll stay away from this terrible place!
lovely surroundings on the hotel, great service and close to shops, nightlife and small bays. Very central for travelling around malta. the hotel could start thinking about being more enviroment friendly. Like only change towels when left on the floor let customers know of this it,ll save money, for the owner as well, watersavers in the bathroom. the discoteqes, around the corner from the hotel had very loud music on til 3 in the morning, so hard to sleep, but bring earplugs at the problem is solved.
Considering its a 2 Star Hotel, could not fault it. Had everything I needed, specially the nice air condition during those hot summer nights.
Nothing as it is dirty, noisy cleaning ladies early in the morning, the water from the tap was brown, location wise I would also not suggest this place as there are much nicer places around in other towns. It's basically a tourist trap. They just write the money for the stay off your credit card without your approval.
The staff bent over backwards to be kind and helpful. The facilities were as good as any four star hotel, everything you need. Iron, adaptors etc The food in the restaurant was excellent The rooms were very clean and kept that way during our stay. I liked the position of hotel, central to everything. Would definately stay there again. Good value for money No
The barman in the Club Bar, was excellent and the hotel majestic.
A warm welcome when one arrives and a comfortable room. Excellent sevice always. Nothing
Very much, excellent value for money Staff a bit rough
Perfect location. Very close to the bus terminal. Breakfast wasn't included.
Yet another slightly shabby once-grande old dame to join the ranks of the nouveaux-pauvres. Overall, reasonable value for money, though certainly not 5-star quality. Perhaps 3-4 star. Items most in need of improvement - bedroom furniture (looks like Lady Stickland's origninal inventory is still in place, and rather the worse for wear) and the main restaurant - I've seen better standards in hospital canteens !! Still, beneath the "fading drapes and peeling paint" lurks some residual old world charm, which would not require a king's ransom to restore it to a semblance of its former glory. And should this happen one day, I would recommend a different interior designer - even the renovated rooms are gaudy rather than tasteful. See above. Connie Francis and Patsy Kline blaring from the adjacent bus terminal.
Excellent localisation, confort, calm Rooms are a bit small
This is a grand old place to stay. Right next to the bus station & the old city of Valletta. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room clean and had a great view over the harbour. The large gardens and pool are great for relaxing. Free wifi available in the bar area. Best to avoid the food at the bistro. You can get better meals in Valletta.
Amazing place, great staff, highly recommended Might be slightly noisy
The combination of the old, traditional style and feeling with the beautifully refurbished facilities; very warm and helpful personnel The elevator nearest our room (4 floors up) was out of order at times. The cost of the breakfasts seemed very high
Swimming pool was excellent, food was very good. Staff at the reseption: very slow and not friendly. Hotel is old and a bit wornout.
The room was very small, me and my cabin bagage and it was full. It seems to be a place not reformed since 80s, and it need it. Very old and cracked forniture and toilet. Breakfast options are very poor.
Its location is excellent and the view from the balcony over the harbour is spectacular. Very convenient for everything. The breakfast was large. The good thing about this hotel is its location. Smoking is allowed in the bedrooms and our room smelled of cigarette smoke. The hotel appears to be in a 60's/70's time warp and furniture and fittings reflect this. Also, although it was not cheap (Euro 100 per night) it had a very high proportion of young, backpacking guests, which was unexpected. On two of the three night we stayed there, there was no fresh fruit at breakfast.
The reception staff were very helpful in terms of my questions, giving advice on how to go places around Malta. The big problem for me was Internet access: I couldn't get the wi-fi access that was advertised on the top floor of the hotel and the card system was very expensive (ie 3 euros for 75 minutes, 2 euros for 20 minutes, but was never for the full amount, always less). Moreover, the location wasn't ideal for me, as I was in Malta for work and had to go back to the capital Valletta to go anywhere. Next time I'll stay in Valletta as the surrounding district of Sliema is pretty run-down and there's not much to do, ie. no real beaches or historical sites to visit.
Location, in front of Sliema Sea, it's located in a very animated street with lots of cafés and terraces. Unfortunately, almost everything. Small elevators, a bedroom with accepts (alcatifa) (which is no longer used), very few light, very bad matresses (bad for your back) with no dais (estrado), no remote control for TV, bathroom with no bidet, just a small light, no water pressure in the bath and in the washing closet, poor breakfast and everywhere we go a bad smell of fried food mixed with mold (mofo) of a building and structure that has not followed tourism evolution and minimum conditions to be given to its clients. It seems Marina Hotel has stopped in time. Not to repeat, not to return, not to advise to anyone, that's for sure.
Excellent location, superb food/dining. Good, helpful staff. Good value for money Lousy WiFi - worst/slowest have ever experienced- used Burger Kings in hotel lobby! Did not like paying for use of minibar or safe - this was not made clear on website.
The view from the hotel was impressive. We stayed on the sixth floor. And of cause the location. The breakfast buffet was extremely boring.
I liked the room, food and staff. I was made to feel very welcome no english channels on TV
Leaving! Wasn't what i expected it to be for the money paid. No air con as stated it had. It was actually a heater, which wasn't a lot of use with temperatures around mid 30'sc. The room was very dirty ie. mucky walls, headboard on bed was black with dirt, torn stained matteress and furniture from the 1960's. I thought when i walked in the room i'd stepped into a cheap B & B in Blackpool. View from window was to a dirty courtyard which comprised of waste food, knives and forks, used condoms all thrown down on to the roof below and on courtyard. The breakfast offered on the B & B basis was only toast or cereal, very basic indeed. I paid extra for the hotel as it was supposedly in a good location. It was a huge dissapointment and i will never be wasting my money to go there again.
Rooms, although clean were basic. Staff were friendly. Good location for buses/ferries etc. Only 2 very small & slow lifts. Rooms are designed for sleeping in, and not for staying in as very basic in nature. Good local transport outside the hotel, but mixed in with lots of local traffic - can imagine the noise in the height of summer.
The front desk staff were always kind and helpful. They responded to my requests right away and gave me information I needed.
Position in town of Sliema. Extreme friendliness of staff. Easy access to all services to visit all parts of island.
The hotel staff made the stay pleasant. Enjoyed the lobby bar/restaurant with live piano undertainment in the evening. The wardrobe facilities including the sauna by the indoor pool needs upgrading. The fact that it also is used by none hotel residents makes it to much public. Quite a few people were making their full morning toilet.
did'nt a room with full sea view even though start of season
Clean and nice hotel. The Reef Club was not open, and they did not inform about this. Even the staff at the orher pool did not know there was such a club! It was supposed to open next week, but seeing the spot, I doubt it...
Friendliness off staff, excellent service and food, comfort and ambiance of hotel
i did't like the fact that they block 150 euros on my credit card when we arrive for the future expensis during my stay. i never heard of such thing before!
Wonderful hotel, excellent facilities and friendly staff.
The staff and facilities at the hotel were excellent. Very clean hotel and helpful staff. The lounge bar with piano is gorgeous. Can't say anything negative about the hotel.
Everything was excellent, staff, rooms, location, they had great half/full package deals. Kids had lots to do and really enoyed themselves. Lots of sport facilities so we did lots of sports, could eat well and did not put on a gramme of weight!!!
Staff are excellent - very friendly and helpful Very Very poor value for money compared to the Intercontinental just round the corner. We stayed in a Tower room which leaked water from the rain and required a new carpet. For the same money at the Inter we could have stayed in a family room and used the VIP lounge. Breakfast was expensive and evening meal was poor for the money. We actually ended up eating at the sports bar in the Inter for 2 nights which has a better menu and far better value for money
Absolutely everything - from check-in to check-out! The staff were professional and genuinely friendly. The room was large and comfortable and we had a side view of the pool and the bay. Even if we had a minor problem or question, it was immediatly taken care of. The indoor pool and the gym was excellent, as was the steam room and sauna. Breakfast was yummy, drinks at the bar were classy and the one dinner we had at the hotel was delicious. The gymand indoor pool were not open til after 4pm on New Year's Day (after we had checked-out).
Absolutely loved it, would definately re visit No
Sensitive conversion of lovely historic building Very spacious duplex room with ample space for reading, writing - feels very private - good location for a romantic escape - extensive covered balcony - great in summer Generous well-equipped bathroom Very quiet location in residential Sliema Though equipped with 2 wide-screen TVs - reception was of poor quality Awkward relationship with sister Victoria Hotel - who run the Capua - separate building - when going to bar/ dining room/ use of pool - No B&B/half- board package available - unlike Victoria - upholstered furniture needs recovering (in our room but especially in dining room)
The fee upgrade to a junior suite, the friendliness of the staff upon arrival The overall impression given by the hotel is not the one of a 5 stars, from the bed and furnitures of the room to the various common spaces and pools. It looks more like a 4 stars or a very good 3 stars.
good gym facilites but it is not a 5 star hotel by international standards. room was not cleaned until 7.30 pm on one occassion and rest of stay usually after 3pm. did not replenish tea and coffee supplies had to ask ofr them each day. no hotel dressing gowns provided as stipulated in literature(telling of facilites) that was missing from room unitl 2 days before we left.
very clean and a good position none
Amazing property! Wonderful service and very delicious food at two hotel restaurants, I would absolutely stay here again! The staff was wonderful, some of the best service I have ever received and I travel all over the world!
Not enough pool. DIdn't like the area it was located near.
Suitable location, our room on the 10th floor facing the internal garten was quiet with comportable temperature without using any air conditioning Cleaningness of the pool, the pool area, toiletts and showers.
A very nice sea-side restaurant Paranga. The room really smells - that wet sort of smell embeded in the old sea-side hotels. Very annoying.
The staff were trying very hard to make up for the short comings from the hotel facilities. The rooms had a smell of dampness and the location of the hotel was in the busiest night spot in Malta. You would probably enjoy this if you were a teenager, however at our age it was a bit too much to bear.
Comfortable and well equipped There were problems with interent connection, lack of access to TV channels and the air conditioning started leaking in the middle of the night.
Surrounded by buildings under contruction. No view at all.
Quiet at night even though in St. Julian's; View from the balcony is nice; Spacious rooms; Rooms need renovation; New towels need to be purchased as the ones available are already worn-out; Type of room whether twin or king should be clarified upon room reservation.
Room was basic, air-condition controlled from your room. Free internet in hotel lobby, but would have been nice if a bar or drinks vending machine was also available in the area. The room was very quiet. Advertised TV is available at an extra cost!! To watch a small potable TV out of date from the 1980's, Remote for TV from reception with deposit as other Malta hotels. Although I stayed in a studio I did expect the room to be made up daily it was not!. The carpets in the room and corridors look tierd and dirty and should be removed to the original tiled floor so to be kept clean.
The room was quiet and the staff very friendly and helpful.
Despite request for one twin and one double - provided with two doubles. No towels provided in one of the rooms and took while for night porter to locate.
the lunch package for leaving early in the morning
Convenient for all aspects of the holiday Not being informed that it is predominately an iels Hotel and full of Students. Would recommend other Days Inn we have stayed in but not Sliema
The staff were helpful and courteous. Anyone thinking of staying at Days Inn should know that it is not affiliated with the hotel chain of the same name. The Days Inn chain has a reputation for good quality budget accommodation.
The staff were excellent. Did not consider it to be 3 *
nothing good. dirty, dirty, dirty!!!!
All of the staff were genuinely friendly, always smiling, and willing to assist. Silly me, I thought this was part of the Days Inn chain of hotels. It's not. This hotel serves as a student dormitory which has a communal kitchen that smelled just awful our first night. The hotel breakfast was, without a doubt, the worst I had in my entire life. My apologies for being so critical, but the coffee tasted like it was made with chlorine.
Great breakfast Room too small
How friendly and attentive the hotel staff were.
Perfect hotel. Special thanks to Nadine from front desk for patience and availability, without her we could have not rented a car.
Proximity to bus terminal. Nice swimming pool. Very good restaurant. We had a nice stay in this hotel.
Friendly, helpful staff with exactly the right balance of attitude - not stiff and formal, not too familiar. No complaints.
We liked everything - room, food, swimming pool, service
The hotel would have been fine - if it was a 3-star hotel. However, dinner at the Tiki Restaurant was fantastic. The bed was terribly uncomfortable, and service was mediocre - we waited over 30 minutes for our drinks from the poolside service. The buffet breakfast was included in our room price, but it was one of the worst meals I've had in a long time. At the price, this is not a hotel i could recommend.
The location was good and the Spa was excellent. The staff were a little arrogant at times. I put this down to the hotel trying to maintain 5 star status.
Everything, an extremely well run hotel, nothing was too much trouble for the friendly and attentive staff
Phenomenal harbour and sea view, excellent facilities (impressive location of the swimming pool and private beach for the hotel guests), good level room services, useful location within the city, comfortable and quiet rooms, and attentive and friendly staff. For a five-star I found it very surprising to find my minibar empty.
Nice pool They charge you every little thing such as business center without telling me that they have the charge for business center (right after I went to the business center to print my boarding pass they were trying to charge me for 5 euro plus paper) and they claimed that ice bucket was missing after we left hotel and flew back to New York. They charge us for that which we have never seen while we stayed there. They told us that they have inventory list before people come in but who steals the ice bucket? If we need one we don't take the used one. For me this was not the pleasant stay. I had to deal with the bill for the amenities which we had never had. I thought this is 5 star hotel but I would rather stayed 3 star hotel and didn't have to deal with all the burden after I left. Never stay here again.
Beautiful Hotel with a great location, nice swimming pool and a nice selections of restaurants. Room had a terrible view and the carpet had some stains on it.
Fantastic pool area with restaurant and bars. Wonderful service throughout the holiday.
god frukost och bra service
i liked the food in most restaurants as we stayed ion a spa room we could not find a thing to complain about .This is the forth time we have stayed here and hope to do so again if they carry on doing the all inclusive deals
The location of the hotel is spot on. It is close to everything including the hop on hop off tour buses, harbour cruises etc. There is a new modern shopping centre next door to the hotel. We had a lovely room with a fabulous view of the harbour. The room was clean and modern and the bathroom was spotless. The hotel is about 20 mins from the airport (by taxi). The staff were helpful and there is a good choice of restaurants in the hotel. The buffet breakfast was good too and overall the hotel was good value for money. There was nothing to dislike about this hotel.
Near to good shopping, the sea and convenient for Valleta, ferries Does not deserve a five star rating. Not the best quality food. Not all spa facilities in use.
what i liked the most were quietness, comfort and the good price-quality relation.
The room was great, the view to Valetta fantastic and the restaurant choice superb In some of the restaurants the service was a little slow. No wi-fi internet access.
Nice hotel in excellent position, close to shopping and cafes, very helpful staff at checkin.
the room was excellent, with perfect view on La valletta walls, very good breakfast the shower was broken and they need 3 days to repair it
Good breakfast, good hotels' restorants Itis a shame, that residents of the 5 stars hotel have to pay for towels in pool area and for a gym as extra payment! The quality of SPA procedures are not corresponding offered prices.
the view was amazing, however the hotel seems to cater mostly for people much older than us - in attitude if not in years - who didn't mind being told what was available rather than being asked what they'd like. This isn't what I expect from a true 5 star hotel. The gym was closed on Sundays - why? This was one of the reasons we went to the hotel! See above. Very unimpressed about closure of gym facilities on Sunday.
The bed was very comfortable and the staff were great. The hotel was obviously incomplete. The water pressure was inadequate, the room was not finished (building wise) and therefore not very clean. I would also suggest carpet in the bedrooms instead of tiling as this impacts on comfort. The facilities that were mentioned were also not available yet as the hotel is not finished. Definitely not up to 5 star standards.
The staff was efficient yet pleasant at all times. The wardrobe was not well designed. There was no place to hang long items. They use those hangers that are hooked to the bar. The bar went from front to back. Making use of the closet difficult. The furnishing were comfortable. But we had a junior suite with one easy chair and a desk chair ... and three ottomans! Another easy chair or sofa would have been more comfortable. There certainly was enough space. The room included a nice balcony overlooking the sea -- yet the be for some strange reason was placed so that one could not enjoy the view from the bed ... and given that there was only one easy chair ...! In regard to the question below about 'guest reviews' there weren't any the hotel only opened at the end of August 2007.
The staff was excellent! It was a really nice hotel, will definitely go back there.
Friendly competent staff, value for money Room service food from the Oriental restaurant was very poor
very clean good quality nice people things that are not finished i.e. no movies or internet in the rooms
Comfortable beds, good service There is a motion detector in the room, with a bright red light which shines if you move also at night. It keeps you awake.
We had a high floor room which meant a fantastic view over the city from our balcony. The Asian restaurant at the hotel tried to serve our food too quickly and one of our party suffered food poisoning
Design Hotel in the heart of Sliema, a little bit up the hill from the waterside promenade, great view from the higher floor rooms and the rooftop / rooftop pool. Their label of being a "design hotel" seems a bit overemphasized and can lead to certain excesses, some shortfalls with the breakfast. Cleanliness is not really a strength of all the Maltese Hotels in general.
The central location of the Hotel makes it easy to visit Sliema and Valetta, near to many shops or restaurants. The breakfast (continental buffet) served during our stay (nov 2010) was absolutely not at the level of the 5 stars of this hotel. No fresh juice, poor presentation of so-called fresh fruits (apples were brown, almost burned in their juice), whereas Malta has plenty of ressources to serve them al over the year. The real good stuff was the bread choice, but for a 14€ BF, it looks nevertheless very unsifficient for this class of hotel
Friendly staff The shower was poor and not functioning properly
The location was convient, however this hotel is for the party goers, and drunks. The beds are very unconfortable. Maid service comes at odd hours. Hotel charges for tv usage, pool is only open till 6, Breakfast was awful, slim selection of food. Staff wasnt that friendly either.
The friendly attitude of the staff was about the only positive point for me. Having to go to another building for the resturant facilities.
The hotel had good facilities, very nice staff and it is located very central - close to most things you'd like to visit in the area.
It is located in an area which is excellent for shopping, dining and entertainment The bathrooms could have been more clean. There were used shower caps near the bath.
Nothing specific, it was in the middle of the action downtown, and a good value for money.
Great place to stay, great location. Just minutes From St. George's Bay and right in the middle of a shopping center. Very modern hotel and friendly staff.
Very good location to enjoy the night life in Malta. Good value for money.
Generally a poor hotel and it is hard to bring up relevant positive points. In some countries it would be rated 3 or less stars. Room was really poor and should never be considered a 4 stars hotel. Bathroom too old and dirty would need most of the appliances replaced including the door as it was completely black of humidity ... The service was real poor and staff helpless in simple tasks that we've requested. Too noisy and we could never guess it would be such a nightmare regarding we were on the last floor. The hotel (in our opinion) is a example of bad planning having the reception in one side and we have to leave the hotel to reach our room through an open corridor... generally too poor !!!
In the morning when the music stoped Would not go back to the hotel even if it was free
Rooms were clean and provided almost everything what other 4 star hotels would. Great value for the money. good location. Rude reception staff. Tired after flight we had to "prove" existance of our booking dispite having printed booking copy. Our names were not on receptionist list, although after asking for manager our names miraculously appeared on the list. another point - some of the rooms face really loud side of the area with clubs and bars.that could be disadvantage for those who likes to sleep ar night.
No. We Would stay there again.
Good location helpful friendly staff good value for money what ever age you are. Stairs might be a problem older customer with mobility problems
The staff were friendly, the breakfast was quite good, the view was really nice and the location was perfect. The air conditioning didn't work in our room (the temperature was around 90F), although the staff did claim they had tried to get someone out to fix it during our 7 day stay. The double bed was against a wall, meaning one of us had to climb out over the end every time to get up to the bathroom or get out of bed.
Staff friendliness and helpfulness..It was very convenient to local transport and other amenites
This hotel is a good value for money. It is next to a rocky beach, but a sandy beach is just a quick bus ride away. Ask for the seaview room if you want to really enjoy the hotel. Hotel staff is exceptionally friendly and ready to help. Breakfast is really basic & the same every day: coffee, juice, bread, ham, cheese & jam.If you don't get a seaview room, expect a very dark room. Air-conditioning does not seem to work. Pillows are very thin.
welcoming and good buy from staff, all staff were very helpful and they deserve good credit from bosses. painting and plastering in rooms could have been done by skilled person.check it out room 45 very dull deco.
Personal service as family run no hot breakfast option
The view, when you get the seaview room, is spectacular. Location was also great - on the picturesque Sliema promenade. The room interiour was not the most modern, but the room was fairly tidy and it was spacious. The staff understood english very well and they were very friendly and helpful. Considering the view and the location, all the minor annoyances don't really matter.
The helpfulness of the staff
Location was excellent, and staff were all very friendly Hotel rooms were basic, but that was reflected in the price we paid. Would recommend upgrading to seaview rooms.
For the price this hotel was in a reasonably good location close to public transport. The room was serviced daily and towels changed which was good for a budget hotel and the air con worked very well. the rooms were kept extremely clean the breakfast was very basic with juice, bread, ham and cheese. the elevator broke down and the hand rail to stairs was not safe and wobbly
very friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable. Having its own car park was a definite bonus.
We liked the Sliema location. It was 10 minute walk to the ferry to Valletta with a steep walk back which we did not mind this at all. The food served in the bar restaurant was excellent and very reasonably priced with excellent service. Very helpful staff. The hotel has an English atmosphere which we found charming. The shop in the hotel had an excellent range of gifts, also reasonably priced. Although this hotel is not on the waterfront, we had views of the water from our balcony. There are a lot of restaurants and pubs near the hotel. Also a very easy walk to St Julians where there are heaps of restaurants. We would definitely stay there again when we return to Malta, which we intend to do, as it is such an interesting place. We found the airconditioning very warm, not only in our room but also in the bar.
Close to all the action Not four star in my part of the world (2 1/2 or 3 star at best), air-conditioning went on and off from movement sensors in the room and sensors on the doors - never got cold, elevators had no logic whatsoever
Very polite staff, great room with the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in! Swimming pool was closed (seasonal) and there was some construction noise due to expansion (but this is Malta-wide currently)
Comfortable bed, excellent cuisine, friendly helpful staff
Great location. Away from noisy main roads but still close to everything. Restaurant food wasn't very good and the tablecloths were always dirty.
The comfort and decor of the room were first class with a great balcony for relaxing. The breakfast buffet was rather limited. There could have been more fresh fruit, proper fruit juices and coffee. I would choose a room only option in future
la beauty farm
very friendly and helpfull staff good, atmosphere plenty of characture. said large balcony which we paid exra for, which was misleading.
Location near ferries and buses, shops and restaurants; good for exploring and getting around. Short ferry ride to Valetta. Recommend Chop House at Tigne Point, Aroma restaurant (and others) in town. Basic price was ok but all else was too expensive. 25 Euros/day for wifi (lobby system does not work, made and saw several complaints). Recommended not to drink tap water, but bottle in room is 3 Euro (2 Euros for six 2 litre bottles in the shop next door). Breakfast > 11 Euros, walk to the front and pay less for a better selection.
Sea view from the room Uncomfortable bed
the veiw, personnel, food and location were excellent We did not like the top bed covers divided in two,it was impossible to get heat and so it felt cold.
The accessibility of the local services, beach and being able to use some extra beach faciliities through the Hotel There was no fresh fruit available at breakfast It is now getting to have a tired look as will soon be in need of refurbishment
Sea view from the room is excellent. Location is good - near all points of interest, but at night you hear only the sea (if the window is opened), not music from the clubs or cafes, or something like this. Furniture looks shabby. Shower gel smelled like it's rotten. No balcony. Very weak and unstable wi-fi signal in the room.
All was good - location, room, staff, food (bkfst only for us), TV, wifi. Just one thing. We checked out at 1200 but were not leaving to airport until 1800, so we wanted to leave baggage there. There is no specific place - just one corner of the lobby area - but zero security. They don't even give baggage tags. So if your bag goes, you can do nothing. Either the hotel should stop accepting bags, or start a system to run this properly. We were lucky because we could take our bags - there was no way I could leave them with no security - but I presume most visitors would have no choice.
The view of the sea and the nice coffee area at front of hotel where you could sit in side or outside
Room was OK, access easy, breakfast good Reception staff not so "friendly" - but still professional. Everything like WiFi, TV, room safe were charged as extras... so didn;t get used.
Proximity to seafront. Comfortable (if tired) room. Levels of friendliness very variable, esp. front of house. I feel that a warm welcome and friendly service goes a long way. However, all requests were considered and handled reasonably effectively. Improvement suggestions to duty manager were well received and I was happy with response. Breakfasts - although included in the price - were uninspiring; food quality acceptable.
good location To be honest, I experienced a shock just ten minutes after my arrival. A huge cockroach welcomed us as soon as we opened the bathroom. We killed it and complained to the reception. They said such things never happen and fortunately it proved to be true. We found no more cockroaches. Neither in our room, nor in other hotel facilities, it must have been a lonely guy:). Rooms were clean and tidy.
The Diplomat was in a very good position on the main sea front promenade and a 15 minute walk into the main town with lots of bars and restaurants on the way. The buffet breakfast was very good with lots of choice. The air-conditioning was not cold enough for us. After being examined by the maintenance, it seemed that there was nothing wrong with it and seemed to be the accepted temperature for the locals. Do not choose a room at the front of the hotel as there is an outside bar which is open till 2.00/3.00am and gets quite noisy and lively. The hotel was clean enough, but needs a sprucing up, a coat of paint, was a bit run down for a 4*.
