excellent beds, good location, nice golf course, good swimming pool / sauna, decent rooms, good value for money no atmosphere in restaurant/bar area, cold restaurant
Indoor leisure complex Restaurant lacked atmosphere.
I really liked the bath in my room. Nice and big I didn't think the food in the bistro bar was very good. I also thought a pint of local cider was too expensive
Good value for money on this occasion. I would have liked free internet connection.
Quite no noise first class will be returning again keep up the good work. None
Delicious breakfast, spacious room, quiet environment. Good location (about 20 mins drive from Plymouth). Not much to do in the evening, but the hotel staff recommended Who Would Have Thought Inn in a close by village, and it was excellent food. Nothing, everything was good.
All staff of the Hotel are polite and professional, they are willing to assist their customers with heart.
Staff were helpfull. Considering this hotel chain prides itself on offering a guarenteed good nights sleep, the fact that it is on a very noisy main road and directly opposite a scrap metal merchants yard, means that you are woken periodically through the night by cars, and then at 7.30am on a Saturday morning by the noise of machinery and scraping metal.
liked the fact that it was not very far from anywhere, staff were very helpful,
Location to the city and the Hoe was good all within walking distance.
Room and hotel very clean and reception staff very helpful As it was very warm and although a fan was provided, which was on all night, air conditioning would have been better.
Just a short walk to National Marine Aquarium & Barbican (across footbridge) City centre is also within walking distance.
All reception staff were happy, helpful and accommodating. Rooms were clean and bright with nice decor. There was an unacceptable amount of noise from outside due to inadequately glazed windows. The housekeeping staff were very noisy from early in the morning, chatting loudly in halways and banging doors, furniture and vacuums noisily throughout the morning. That wouldn't be a problem if you were staying for business and needed to be up and out early but was annoying when we were hoping for a relaxing, quiet morning.
Staff very friendly. Room clean and nice shower. Free parking. Location. Bed big but mattress quite hard, we found it hard to sleep comfortably. Roadside noise, so a bedroom on the harbour side would have been better since we have a small baby.
Clean comfortable rooms. Wifi very expensive. Wifi at £5 per hour or £10 for 24 hours even campanile now have free wifi!!
This hotel is in a very quiet, but excellent location for us. The free parking meant that we could leave the car there and explore the city and its surounds easily. The building site that is in preparatory stages at the moment could be a noise and dust problem in the coming months
A good hotel, staff that was very pleasant and helpful with excellent food, a nice pub and good wines, what more can you wish? In our first room, although a very nice one with a good view, there was only a bath without shower, also one of the beds was on the soft side..
Good atmosphere with open fire good room and friendly staff. Great meal with good choice.
Absolutely loved the room! Had a lovely view out the front, across the church and into distant hills. Large spacious room - with 2 three seater sofas! None - very nice experience
the food and service no double bed had to have a put up double which was uncomfortable?
Room good size and not cramped whichhad adjoining dressing room between bathroom and bedroom. Closeness to the village whch was compact, excellent range of shops, ideal centre for walking, etc. Staff helpful and very pleasant, would come again. This is not a complaint, but should be born in mind for all hotels: ALL bathrooms should have a rail over the bath to prevent slippage and aid children and elderly people to get in and out of baths safely, even if not disabled. Shower over bath, water extremely hot and with a mixer tap and extended hose/shower, difficult to regulate.
Very nice spacious room. Liked the bar area; good service. No parking. We arrived on a Friday about 11.30 and could find nowhere to park - a bit of a problem as my Husband cannot walk too far. The description of the hotel sugggests that you would have no problem getting a parking space in the public car park - to be sure of this I would suggest arriving after the shops are closed.
Friendliness and helpfulness of staff Quality of the food setting There weren't any
Very large room, very good steaks, very helpful and friendly staff, very good value for money, in a lovely setting well placed for discovering Dartmoor. The beds were a bit soft and there was no shower, just a bath.
The room is clean and the food is absolutely delicious!! Loved the atmosphere at the bar as well. None really!
Welcoming, friendly, helpful, staff. Well supported by the local people. Good food and fine selection of local ales. Possible problem with drains in en suite bathroom of our room, got occasional whiff of same
very friendly and responsive staff with high customer service attributes . Also an excellent breakfast service with freshly cooked items served at the table . Much better than the serve yourself arrangements where items are left under a hot lamp system The restaurant for evening dinner is a bit overpriced. £6.45 for a starter which turned out to consist of a 4" sardine on a miniscule bed of apple slices and celeriac is pushing it a bit.
Very welcoming staff. Food excellent. Room comfortable but not as luxurious as we expected. Hotel situated on main square, great in daytime for shopping etc. But noisy at night
The staff were exceptional nothing was too much trouble always has a smile and were very friendly but professional. excellent food and selection of real ales. None
Very friendly staff and highly efficient service. The staff / customer experience was on at least a par with multi-starred hotels. The building is quite old, and some thought should perhaps be given to improving the soundproofing of the rooms. One was woken several times during the night by sharp noises from adjoining rooms, which was somewhat irritating, and detracted from what was otherwise a flawless experience.
Bedroom fitted out with attention to detail and design- bed was very comfortable. We liked the toiletries and lovely perfume left for guest use in bathroom - a simple nice touch. Food , particularly breakfast was excellent and hotel had a relaxed friendly atmosphere Hotel undergoing some refurbishment to outside so didn't look attractive when we first arrived
Clean, friendly staff, lovely setting. Car park a bit awkward.
We were recommended the hotel by my uncle and aunt who live in Totnes who we were wishing to visit but do not have sufficient space to accommodate us. They described it as comortable and convenient for their location in Bridge Terrace. We found that the hotel was as described and that the staff were friendly and helpful and the facilities very good. It was good being able to sit and read the papers in the upstairs sitting area and generally felt friendly and relaxed.
Very friendly and helpful staff - good food in all bars/restaurant plus breakfast Only a couple of late evenings. Some furniture was moved past our room into a storeroom next door which was rather noisy especially since one of the evenings it was past 10.30pm,
Very friendly staff, nice atmosphere in the hotel Window opens onto rather noisy road
Everything excellent. Only the booking process that wasn't very easy!
Everything you would expect from a very good B & B, excellent. Nothing
Phoned ahead to let them know what time my family would be arriving but then they got stuck in traffic. Phoned back up and ask to stay up just incase they were late for check-in. Which the lady agreed to. Then called me when they arrived to let me know they arrived safely. My wife said it's good value for money and will book again for the next trip to Plymouth.
It's close location to our friends. My husband has difficulties managing stairs, particularly going down. There appears to be no rooms at ground floor level. I did phone ahead to check..
Relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Well kept hotel. Very pleasant indeed. Only let down by breakfast food and service. Breakfast service was extremely poor every mornng. Food under cooked. Raw sausages. A general lack of everything. A real let down for what what was otherwise a lovely break and a pleasant hotel. Please pass on this comment.
Pleasant place, pleasant staff, pleasant town. We have stayed here before and were glad to return. The necessity of having to use the town car park.
Nicely appointed rooms, friendly staff Fairly small range of lager beer available - was missing my Stella - nowhere to be found in the village.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were satisfactory. The restaurant was excellent I would suggest that the water pressure could be improved as the shower was very weak.
A comfortable hotel with attentive staff, excellent food close proximity to Dartmoor. We had a room close to the main road and it was noisy at times, but we could have moved if we had asked. Next visit we have already discussed with the Manageress and a quieter room would be provided.
Old world charm Parking was not at the hotel. The restaurant was not open Sunday evening!!
Lovely old hotel in a lovely village, we had an excellent value mid-week deal including a very high standard three course meal for us both. Huge room and bed and one of the best full-english breakfasts I've had in a while.
Very comfortable bed. Fresh modern room. Clean. Good food. Some rooms located across the road from the hotel. Which means that the hotel are not aware of guests who are drunk and disturbing others staying in the mews. The design of the mews allows nosie from guests entering and leaving to echo around the building and thus disturb others. Staff unsympathetic to problems.
A very warm and cosy hotel with an excellent restaurant and comfortable accomodation Lack of free car parking - had to use public car park down the road.
pleasnt staff the room was a bit too hot at night
Accessibility of town, room was immaculate and spotlessly clean
tranquility lack of internet access in bedroom
Staff are always very pleasant and service is delivered with a smile. Excellent location to de-stress and relax. The room I had (25) had a street light outside the window so it needed an extra layer of lining to the curtains to block the light fully. It didn't keep me awake but it might some people.
Convenient situation for my purposes and helpful reception staff.
Excellent service and good location Dinner menu needs more variation from day to day. Quality varied - was chef changed?
Its central location in Tavistock & good breakfast. Bed not very comfortable & heating in room difficult to control (we were far too hot in February!)
Use this hotel fairly frequently and always made to feel especially welcome.Peaceful and relaxed with an air of refinement and luxury. Nothing !
I was upgraded to a room with a four poster bed in it. This is something I have always wanted to do but had never done. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. I have stayed at the Bedford on several occasions and always had very good service. There is nothing that I would want to complain about.
There was a problem with the door key. Very difficult to lock, but they promised to sort the matter out.
The peace and quiet about the whole hotel I had no problems
Everywhere very spacious, including bedrooms; fixtures and fitting to a very high standard. Bed and pillows very comfortable. Lighting in room excellent with spotlight over desk. At least 10 power points in the room, 3 were next to the bed. Tea and coffee in room. Iron, ironing board and hairdryer in room. They do a good evening meal deal - £15 for 2 course evening meal with one drink. They have 2 real ales in the bar, both from South Hams brewery. It's a Canadian chain with only 3 hotels in the UK. It's easy to find and easy to get to being just north of the A38 but it is a bit of a way from the centre. Good English breakfast - fried eggs are cooked to order; the rest is buffet.
The hotel was very clean and well presented and my room was fantastic value for money, I also found the staff very helpful and friendly
excellent rooms and helpful staff N/A
Quiet, elegant and efficient hotel. Very comfortable beds, lovely to have duvets instead of blankets. Nothing whatsoever, would stay at any Future Inn in future.
Only in the hotel to get ready and sleep so did not use any of the facilities but room very comfortable and roomy Breakfast was very basic
Future inns and Hoels have a whole experience of great hospitality. I always attempt to stay with this hotelgroup.
Everything was very clean and new.
lots of space, very modern, privacy, good for kids. the aircon failed while we were there. as it was a weekend they were unable to fix it
The clean, modern decor and facilities, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel restaurant was also good. Could have been cheaper, perhaps more deals for non-business guests staying for more than one night.
The room was very quiet and the staff friendly and helpful. The area behind the bath taps was really very dirty with mould and should have been spotless (room 508).
We ate in the Brasserie which was excellent the food was delicious and good value.
the resturant below is very nice and cooks steak perfectly. Although centrally located noise is minimal, facilities clean and staff very polite. although i thought the booking.com description was slightly misleading about wifi charges. The staff resolved the situation and have promised to edit the description to ensure noone else expects wifi to be included in the room foc!
pleasant staff and good food at the Brasserie Apart from the smart reception area, the hotel could do with some decorating and refurbishment
Facilities were very good for the price of the hotel. The restaurant menu was small and expensive, the bar menu had a lot more selection. The bar menu should have been served in the restaurant
The rooms furnishings were fresh and clean obviously recently refurbished. Lovely choice of decor bedding and comfy bed. Room 306.. i am a light sleeper and the noise from the clubs and road did keep me awake but my daughter slept like a log..the added bonus of free use of lesiure club was great lovely staff in there too..
the room was fantastic and was within walking distance of the town centre.
very good, staff very helpful rooms were nice
The Hotel Night Porter! Washing left outside opposite room from 2pm until following morning. Expected more for our money. Landing/Hallway carpets sellotaped. We booked a room for 3 tho when we wanted a hot chocolate there was only 1 supplied. Would not stay again, value for money terrible & location not brill. We have stayed at the Copthorne Hotel before & The Jurys. Wo uld most definately stay at Jurys again. Hotel staff brill tho!
Beautiful location and exceptionally quiet country retreat. Charming building & excellent service from all the staff. We also enjoyed the tour of the hotel's vegetable garden by the Head Gardener, who is a great credit to this special hotel. The bedroom furnishings and bathroom are starting to look tired in places. The breakfast lacked a "wow" factor. However, neither of these disappointments spoilt a great stay. Thank you to all the team.
Excellent scrambled eggs :O) You have to be fit - there are a lot of stairs
the staff were very useful and friendly , breakfast was ample and prompt we were on the top floor and the stairs were hard work !!
The staff was very helpful, rooms was spotless and very spacious, breakfast was plentyfull and tasty. As a former manager of a London 4 star hotel I found Jewells was a better standard and I would recommend it to anyone I could not find one fault about the hotel
Pleasant people running it. Very comfortable room
Very friendly people, great location near the Barbican and City Centre. More comfortable bed than I expected for the price. Sink in room. Shared bath not shared by many. Location means lots of noisy seagulls early. Don't expect more than three TV channels.
Good location, good price Staff were not very accessible, rooms and stairwell very narrow and hard to get luggage through
Felt very relaxed and welcome. Breakfast was excellent. Great location.
Faultlessly clean and superb breakfast, served hot ! The stairs to our room on top floor !
There was cctv in the hallway which captured an image of everyone coming through the door who either had a key or was calling at the hotel. A good safety feature.
All staff were helpful and friendly at all times, but I did get the feeling that they were all reading from a corporate script rather than genuine concern for peoples welfare.
Typical premier inn Nothing special. Hot in rooms even though a fan provided but made it noisy at night Small bed creaked badly mattresses very hard
ILoved the room, comfy , very clean and very helpful staff How noisy the traffic all the time and noisy drunken people walking by up to 4.00am
Attentiveness of staff Nothing
Courteous and conscientious staff, warm comfortable room with controllable heater and a kettle, competitive price, convenient location, money-back guarantee. Unappetising menu, bouncy battery egg for breakfast, hot water not working at 8pm, bathroom didn't smell great.
It was convenient for what I needed. I was taking my son back to Plymouth University and just needed a bed for the night. My room was on the side of the building that faced a main road. The Inn didn't have air conditioning so I had to have the window open during the night and this meant I was disturbed by a lot of traffic noise.
Location is very good for Plymouth City, the hotel was bordering excellent, the dining annexe is a great spot especially for a drink outside by the docks. Food was good and price reasonable. But, come on one bath towel, should we have asked for another, we were a couple and my wife hogged it. Also two teabags ? meant we had to go and buy a pack of tea, I guess we could have swiped some at breakfast but don't like to do that. Otherwise it was our first stay at Premier and it was good. Regards.
Location was good. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good value for money. Some rooms faced noisey road and no reduction for single room occupancy.
Very helpful staff .central position.ample car parking.
Excleent check-in process advising us of hotel's Good Night Sleep guarantee and combined breakfast & dinner package for £22. Bathroom could do with some maintenance regarding general decoration; E.G. ceiling starting to develop mould above shower area.
Having access to gym & spa Swimming pool was out of use which hadn't been told at booking in
Good Service Poor food quality - was not fresh - more like frozen diced chicken warmed up (Had the Curry & Friend had the stir fry - same style chicken in it)
Room was large and airy with good biews across course. Hotel Receptionist excellent and very friendly. Spa and swimming pool very good. Lack of parking spaces and tables for breakfast. Had to wait 25 minutes to get coffee order taken at breakfast.
The cat that visits the hotel! The hotel is way over priced for what it is!
Clean, quiet and comfortable - ideal for a short business stay or a leisure break for golf or relaxation. NO
The location was excellent - peace and quiet. Overlooking parkland that was now a golf course. The place lacked character and atmosphere. Soulless
The receptionist on our first night was amazing and imediately made us feel that we were the only guest that they had there. The staff attitude in the swim area, we felt that he couldn't be bothered and a regular member told us about the facilities instead - poor.
the room and food was fabulous would love to stay at the hotel again
Location, food. Rather tired and run down. (we knew it from many years ago when it was much better. Cat seem to be allowed in dining room. Tables not cleared in dining room - lots of dirty plates. If we had paid the Elfordleigh website rate then I would have been complaining very loudly!
