very welcoming the hotel is not near the shops or city centre - £7 in a taxi each way
Comfortable hotel set within nice grounds. Bar/lounge area was very relaxing, tastefully decorated and nicely furnished. Breakfast was organised very well.
Bed nice and comfortable. Powerful shower and plenty of hot water in the morning. Huge breakfast available.
Excellent value for money. Good size room , very clean and quiet. Excellent breakfast. Great value for money. Will become my hotel of choice in the Dundee area
The grounds were very very nice. A hedge maze as well as woodland walk. The flowers around the property were very colorful. We spent a very nice late morning through the afternoon on a rainny day reading in the sitting room with Tea and soup. Very comfortable and nice. We didn't have a news paper while we were there. They found later that their fax was down so their order didn't go in.
The upgrade to Executive room for £5 was great value I tried to get the Internet on my laptop but it wouldn't work. There was a number to call for help but no one ever answered and I tried about 20 times at least, I also left a message but im still waiting for a reply. The girl at reception was great she cancelled this from my bill and couldn't appoligise enough
Unfortunately we were all unwell with a sickness bug during our stay - the staff were brilliant - showed consideration, asking how our little boys was, the kitchen offered to make him something that wasn't on the menu and the night porter brought us fresh bed linen during the night. Very impressed by the consideration and professianlism of all staff. Would recommend it to family and friends. nothing
it looked really nice and was close to town center most of the staff didn't speak good English and the breakfast was very disorganized and over cooked
Good quality hotel and public areas very comfortable. Staff were all very good and friendly particularly the breakfast waitress who was extremely friendly with all guest, and nothing was too much trouble. Absolutely nothing.
Good facilities fair price
Friendly staff, quiet and and very clean room. Overall a very nice hotel. The room was a little dark and the furnishings tend to accentuate this. The duvet on the bed was somewhat oversized for summer and it was hard to get the room cool enough. To be fair, I did not ask to have it changed.
Good arrival procedure, clean room Continental breakfast selection limited
The hotel is modern and very clean. We found the staff to both helpful and willing to help. The breakfast had a wide choice of options. We would be happy to stay again.
On site parking Other peoples hair on bathroom floor
This was one of the best Holiday Inns that we have stayed at. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was so clean and the breakfast was lovely with plenty to choose from. On the whole everything was excellent and I shall certainly be recommending this Holiday Inn to everyone that I know!! Absolutely nothing!!
We were visiting the Edinbro fringe festival but unable to get reasonably priced accomodation there - this was a good solution being about 30 miles away.
helpful people, clean, nice place - pub next door is excellent big flatscreen TV on in breakfast room with SKY News was a bit much!!
The staff were very friendly and helpful central location for shops but far enough out of town for peace and quiet yes... bought a pint of beer and it was very expensive about £1 more expensive than the pub next door other than that no problems
comfor , clean far away from edinburgh
Helpful staff, easy to get to location, and beside an excellent pub :-) Coffee poor quality . free a breakfast , but £1.50 other times,Breakfast, not as good as it used to be !! No muffins ! The rooms edges were dusty and in need of a hoover . window sill had mildew spots on it . The toilet had an 'odour '
Good room and basic but sufficient breakfast. Food at next door pub excellent though serving times seemed long for most, not for single diners like me though Bar limited drink options.Couldnt find off sat nav so had to ring
The room,Service,The Staff,Luxury,
The room was immaculate with wonderful views over the city. Staff are exceptionally helpful and pleasant. Excellent meal in restaurant. Spa easy to access and good surroundings.
In my type of work, I travel a lot, and have stayed in many different hotel chains. The main thing for us was the very clean and well kept room which was furnished to a high standard, we also had a great view of the Victoria dock. The health spa and gym facilities are excellent. I will certainly recommend this hotel to my friends and if I return to Dundee in the future, I will choose to stay in this hotel.
Lovely hotel, rooms very chic, comfortable and stylish. Excellent Facilities, great view over quay, and nice central location, highly recommend this hotel to everyone.
staff were very helpful and the hotel was great value and use of leisure facilities was great nothing
Its very central and a lovely location on the quay in Dundee. Hotel is quite modern rooms are clean and well appointed. Bed was a bit soft, bits of the hotel such as corridors are a bit tired round the edges.
The bedrooms are spacious
Best value for money on our recent trip
kindness of personel, view from room (317) and overall look and spirit of the Hotel. Cleanliness of bathroom (black spots in corners of the shower) + state of the painting on the walls and closet doors in the entrance of the room. Rooms could also use a minibar.
Food and atmosphere. Location was good too. Round pin plugs meant I could not charge my phone
A clean and inexpensive room with a comfortable bed. Centrally located in the city. Friendly and helpful staff. Room lighting a bit dark - but heck it's a bedroom! Late night background noise might annoy some people.
Dindee Backackers was very comfortable, alougth not very good for lame or disabled ,,while there was an elevator this was located on 1st floor and stairs had to be climbed to get to it. Only one complaint and it was the radiator in bathroom was far too warm
Situated between the main shopping centres so very easy to get to. Easy to access and efficient booking in/payment process. The bed was very cosy to sleep in!!!! No chair or tv in the room so was very difficult to entertain a small child. Was not shown the tv room or kitchen facilities by any staff so didn't know what the procedure for there use was. Room was at the front of the building and was extremely noisy during the night.
The location was brilliant, just across from Caird Hall in the city centre. It was only a ten minute walk to pubs/clubs/restaurants. We were in a twin en suite room which was very large and had soft comfy homely beds. The shower would vary from full blast power shower to a trickle very suddenly. It took a long time to get lathered up and hosed down when it was shower time
location, ease of access, friendly staff
location, common spaces, staff room filthy and never once cleaned while we were there for 4 days and constant noise
I liked absolutely nothing about this hotel and would not stay there again if they paid me! The car park was inaccessable. The bins in my room had not been emptied since the previous occupants left. The plumbing rumbled all night long keeping me awake. The "restaurant" was an Indian take away which was open to the general public and they served the worst curry I have ever tasted.
The view was excellent and the breakfast good and the rooms warm and adequate. I would have liked a bedside lamp to read by at night and had to get out of bed to turn off the light. The dining room was very cold too.
Helpful friendls staff no
sheets & towels clean carpet filthy-did not look like it had been hoovered for a long time-no milk on first day-too far out of town
Nothing The room, the location, the staff,...
Clean hotel and staff very friendly Room was too small and spartan, no proper dressing table, no hairdryer and not enough surfaces to lay anything down. En-suite was too small. Breakfast was poor with not enough choice. For someone who cannot have citrus juice I was left with nothing to drink.
The owner was delightful and the whole flavour of the place reminded us of a place where we used to work (a wee bit Faulty Towers in the nicest way) The breakfast was nice and the diningroom was pleasing to the eye. The room was too small for a double, as was the en suite. The TV did not work, there was a problem with the door lock (which broke and therefore remained unlocked) and the blind was stained.
The fact that we could have the use of the microwave ovens and cook our own meals. The ability to have continental breakfasts at an early time in the mornigs.
Room and bedding was clean. Receptionist was pleasant and friendly. Ensuite shower room was small: no where to hang bath/shower towels; toliet too close to wash hand basin. Blinds or a net curtian at bedroom window would aid privacy. Service at breaakfast, whilst pleasant, was questionable in terms of availability of food/drink and efficiency.
Nice family atmosphere
THe staff were excellent as was the food. Leisure facilities for changing were poor as was the fact that there was no attendant overseeing the pool or 'mini' gym.
friendly, efficient staff and excellent food - breakfast, high tea (up to 7pm) and bar snacks (up to 9pm) are are as good as you'll get. Formal a la carte menu very good but expensive. Reception staff and restaurant staff outstanding. Bar area very informal and enjoyable, relaxing with helpful, attentive staff. Bar prices (including meals) very good. Stayed in a twin room with my son. Room clean and functional but dated with tiny TV. Bathroom very dated. Beds were small singles and very, very soft/squeaky mattresses - the beds would be the main reason I would think twice about returning. Also at £88/night B&B for a twin room I think the hotel is a bit overpriced - £75/night would be about right.
We only stayed the one night and found it to be a nice clean and friendly hotel with staff only too happy to help you. We eat out in town but if we stay again we will eat in as the food looked great and the smells from the restaurant were mouth watering. Breakfast was fantastic with plenty fresh fruit and a large fry up if you wanted it. We were woken up at just after 6:30 with a constant drumming noise that lasted around 20 mins, spoke to staff and was told they were having problems with heating system and they could not apologize enough and hoped it didn't spoil the stay. Have to say it did not as we have a young son who gets up at that time most mornings anyway. We were aware of the traffic noise when we first went to the room but what do you expect from a hotel in a town so no real problem.
Cosy atmosphere and relaxing environment. Complimentary glass of wine and bathrobe were not expected but very welcome. Staff serving the morning breakfast was not very attentive.
Every single member of staff was polite friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and the facilities perfect. We felt relaxed and would definitely return.
Food was exellent value 4 money Not enough parking places
staff very friendly and helpful
Comfortable, spacious, excellent restaurant and food, nice location, fair walk into city centre, but enjoyable No, cannot complain, it was my third visit, and will continue to use this hotel
Very comfortable, excellent service none
the room was lovely. free wifi bathroom was a bit shaby but clean and functioning
Good rooms, helpful staff and nice meals Was a bit difficult for my father who is disabled
There was a warm welcome and during my stay, nothing was too much trouble for my hosts. Decor, furniture and fittings are top class and my room was large and immaculate. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and generous: a substantial meal and a pleasure. The small bar is beautifully furnished and welcoming. Parking is easy and free. The hotel is undergoing a complete renovation and will rectify its one deficiency (the lack of a restaurant) by the spring. The renovation work does not impinge on guests.
The warm welcoming from the staff. the breakfast was great. My room was a little cold.
Breakfast was very good. Room was nice and warm with very friendly staff. No soap in bathroom and no shower.
friendly people clean rooms
The people who ran it were lovely the rooms were a littel tiers and in need of some TLC
From the moment we arrived until the time to leave, we were very well taken care of. The staff are faultless, always smiling and pleasant and nothing is too much trouble. The views from the restaurant are lovely and we had some of the best meals... try the trawlermans platter..... delicious. The room was a very good size and Spotlessly clean. Many thanks to all, it was a lucky find for us, and we will be back.
Excellent restaurant , reasonably priced . Friendly staff . We were kept awake for several hours during the night by noisy wedding guests and taxi drivers sounding horns to attract their clients at 01.30am .
A big bed and good food! There was nothing that I can say I didn't like.
Excellent Breakfast - Fresh Fruit No
Nice big bed and room, which looked relatively new. Very clean too. Near airport and Ninewells Hospital. Shower was a bit unpredictable on the 2nd night, fluctuated between hot and cold.
The variety of the breakfast and staff so pleasant at all times The fact that to move around had to travel bt taxi a hotel courtesy car would have been nice to travel into town?
The pleasant surroundings , the pleasant room and the of the staff. I would stay again.
Clean and safe for a lone female traveller It was a bit too hot for me and the floor boards squeaked a lot
Generaly, a well appointed hotel. Relaxed athmosphere. Room allocated was primarily intendes for a disabled guest/guests. We had no impairments and would have appreciated a room with bath - we must stress that we did not ask for a room change.
free Internet access and very comfiortable rooms
Our experience of the hotel was fantastic. The food was excellent and the staff couldnt have been more helpful. Overall a perfect break.
the rooms are ultra large, very clean, original victoria features enhanced and staff are very dedicated on serving you to the best of their abilities The room service is timely but very inaccurate - they have constant difficulty managing to deliver even basic tea and toast without providing simple things like plates or knives or cups. Would also suggest if people check if conferences or functions are being held as if so the facilities for guest disappear as in our two experiences day conferences took up every facility and uunable to have a quiet coffee area for meetings
Beautiful grounds Leaky, soiled radiator, damp patch on ceiling.Intermittent scalding hot water from shower,Foul smell on stairway leading to room, location of room, no view due to high location of small window, refused access to another room - appalling as it was our 26th wedding anniversary. Wedding food - average, breakfast - poor - very limited choice.
Venue, food, surroundings and food. Value for money None
This marvellous stately home was an idyllic and well maintained stop for us on a driving holiday and was within reasonable car distance of St Andrews. My wife and I had a very relaxed time there and would very happily return. No dislikes or complaints at all
Althought the hotel was full and there was a wedding at the venue, we were not affected by any noise whatsoever. We found our stay very peaceful. The staff were excellent and the service - reception, restaurants - was very good.
Able to control room temp. as weather had turned wet and cold. Also plenty of lounges to relax in. Everything was excellent +will return Pebbles on entrance to hotel are very awkward to walk on and ruin heels on ladies shoes. This hotel should have a pool and spa it would then be absolutely heavenly. Mentioned both these points to staff.
The hotel has character and the staff attitude makes your stay a very pleasant experience. The food is first class in both restaurants. The breakfast sets you up for the day ahead. Nothig to dislike.
Hotel Victorian design and atmosphere. Breakfast served in the large and light ballroom was nice. In a four star hotel I expected to find at least toothpaste in the bathroom but it wasn't there, unfortunately. Also the hotel website notes that toiletries are Molton Brown which they weren't; it isn't all that important of coarse but you would expect the information to be accurate, expecially that of a four star hotel. Dining places were only open certain hours and considering that the hotel is situated in the middle of nowhere, you couldn't just pop out to sandwish bar round the corner if you were hungry.
Was there for a wedding Even though we asked for rooms for the main wedding guests to be ready slightly earlier they won't and we where given inaccurate information to when they would be ready.
The best feature of the hotel was the staff, they were all very friendly and extremely helpful. The free WiFi was also a plus. The room was large and comfortable with tea making facilities and a modern television but for windows had only two Velux roof lights. Theses were noisy when it rained and could not be opened other than for a small ventilation louvre. The restaurant was only so-so, -pub food with limited breakfast choice.
The staff on reception are very welcoming and helpful. I had booked a Deluxe room which was very spacious. The Hotel is located in a quiet area near to lovely countrside. My room was a bit cold initially.
Wireless Internet, Food
This is a superb hotel with excellent staff and facilities, I'm so pleased we had our dinner here and not driven to Edinburgh! It was excellent, I can still taste it. Thank you Nothing bad here. Come and enjoy.
Clean fresh hotel that employeed staff who were willing to help and did it with a refreshing smile. Prefer to have some sports channels on TV.
The Hotel was excellant in the staff ,comfort and cleanleness The location was a bit difficult to find for someone who is not familiar with the Fife region.
The peacefullness It's almost perfect until we had our dinner. The food was ok but dissappointed with the chips, it reminded us of "MacDonald".
We stayed at the Hotel as we were guests at a wedding, and everything went very well and we are pleased to say the staff and the service were very good.
The water pressure in the shower was awfull. You couldn't have washed a baby never mind an adult.
Room was cold as was the Shower.
The availablity of wireless internet. The room was cold during the day.
Good food. Pleasant staff. Breakfast area very small when queuing to be served. Bed uncomfortable. Room very small. In need of up-grade. Shower very inconvenient in bath. 40 to 50 young people gathered in the street untill 3.30am very, very roudy. Expensive compared to others in the area.
Helpful staff and closeness to city centre
Easy to find, excellent location to town centre shoppping, plenty of amenities close by. Excellent, clean, modern rooms. Excellent choice of breakfast and very helpful staff. Recommended
Very comfortable and good location
Helpful and friendly staff rather tired decor. old fashioned.
The restaurant was fantastic we ate there both nights, the bar was friendly and cosy. We had a huge bathroom also unfortunately there were builders walking on scaffolding outside our window all day
everything especially the food
Charming and accommodating staff. I arrived at 6.45am, exhausted and they immediately let me check in (6 hours early!) and arranged breakfast. Lovely quiet lounge for coffee and conversation.
You get what you pay for.Situated close to the high way.
everything staff very helpfull and smart. very handy for bus service to dundee found nothing to complain about
close by to the town, location for eating, entertainment was good
Bed was a bit lumpy and uncomfortable
On arraival, premier inn did not have my booking, but fortunately they had some spare rooms available, why did your booking system connect with premiers?.
Easily accessible for guest with mobility difficulties. (Disabled- friendly) room was clean, fresh, comfortable, quiet. Receptionist pleasant. Good food at reasonable price, and good service, at attached restaurant. 1. Confusion was caused when searching for map after booking on internet. Map showed two Premier Inns on site, and several with same or similar name. This needs sorting out. 2. From car when driving to hotel, inn sign obscured by overgrown tree. 3. Not very clear how to find and work heating controls in room - had to figure it out. An explanation would have neen useful.
All told a very enjoyable experience.Nice accomodation, pleasant and helpful staff and we both felt that we would definitely book with you again Restuarant food was excellent but this was marred greatly by the lack of staff on breakfast duty. This resulted in inordinate delay and many disgruntled patrons who were quite vociferous in their complaining, and rightly so. This was a shame because with even one extra staff member on duty the whole process could have been efficiently managed.
Comfortable bed, basic room but entirely appropriate for our overnight stop Bathroom tiles 'tired'; could smell cigarette smoke in the corridor coming from another bedroom
Spacious room and en-suite, with good parking. Breakfast was average. Too few breakfast staff for the number of guests.
The friendly attitude of the staff. Helpful reception staff. The themed nature of the attached restaurant. good breakfast available. Very pleasant surroundings. Close to public transport. Old computer equipment for internet use and in bad position
