The ease of checking in , the car could be parked close to the room, which helps when you have a heavy suitcase. There was everything you needed for an overnight stay and longer. And the hotel was only a short walk from the centre of town. The layout of the towels, soaps etc was a very nice touch. The bathroom window did not close correctly and allowed the cold air to enter the bathroom, surprised the windows are not double glazed.
Hospitable staff/owners, made to feel welcome, good advice/knowledge of local attractions and general knowledge of New Zealand

Our host was very friendly on arrival and gave us some directions we needed.Stayed for a quick chat and left us alone. Was within walking distance of a friendly pub with good kiwi food.Perfect.
Everything was excellent - service, room, local knowledge, helpful owners - fantastic overall Highly recommended. Have to be the best motel in Greymouth !
The room was immaculate and extremely comfortable, easy to find and convenient to grocery shopping. We did not even go out for dinner, just picked up microwave dinner ingredients and relaxed and the Lodge.
helpful friendly manager, rooms ideal for larger families happy for more than one bed in a room (twin bed in sitting room plus twin and single in bedroom)
It was close to the centre. My room was in front of one of the main roads in Greymouth, and the window did not isolate the noise from outside, in resuIt I did not sleep properly.
Bar staff asked re drinks and brought nibbles to our table as there was 6 of us. She was very polite and friendly We have stayed before and been very happy. This time the rooms were special deal but unsatisfactory as above we would rather have paid more and got nicer rooms. We were not asked if the room was satisfactory when we left or given any opportunity to comment on anything. It was the weekend of the mining disaster but we had booked prior to this.
During our travels around New Zealand we were advised by various people not to bother visiting Greymouth - sadly I can now see why. The TranzAlpine is well worth the journey but I’d advise going no further than Arthurs Pass.
Nice facilities. Room was nice. Staff friendly. We wanted to copy photos from camera to USB but there was no 2 USB ports on the computer to copy.
Its central location from the railway station and shops. Comfortable room more than adequate for our needs. Helpful staff.
Good value for money. There was insufficient parking and we had to park a block or so away. This was a small inconvenience with luggage etc and my husband was concerned about the car being parked in a remote location.
The staff were very courteous and helpful, particularly in the restaurant - the service was excellent, the coffee and the food were fresh and tasty. There was far too much noise from an adjacent room and corridor that continued despite staff attempting to deal with the matter.
We liked the location. It was within walking distance from the train station and local shops. It was also great value for money, clean, tidy and well presented. The exposed sprinkler system pipe running across the centre of the ceiling in our suite.
Site is great when traveling with a car.
nice and quiet the prawns with their skins left on??????
Very friendly and helpful staff. Good location with beach nearby for a magnificent view to the sunset of Tasman Sea.
It was very cosy with the good heater, great bathroom and kitchen we enjoyed a good movie on Sky TV I did think the room was a little dark, and we did wondwe how old the bed was
Comfortable, well appointed room Unable to access beach
