    The George Hotel is an elegant Grade II listed hotel occupying a colourful and varied history. Situated in the main square of Huddersfield the building compliments its neighbour the Huddersfield Railway Station with its fine Italian facade designed by William Walker. It is also near Leeds Bradford International Airport. This is a traditional 5 storey Victorian building with a pale stone facade: Most impressive building to look at. The hotel lobby is medium in size and elegant in decor with a mahogany reception desk and a few sofas. There is plenty of Space for groups and their luggage. The hotel was built in the Victorian period around 1851 and is famous as the birthplace of Rugby League Football the meeting that founded the organisation was held here in 1895 and the memorabilia recalling this can be found throughout the hotel as well as in the recently opened Rugby League Museum. The Hotel is the perfect environment for business overnight stays weekend's away rugby league fanatics or visiting friends and family. Whether for business or pleasure the George is the ideal choice.
