This hotel is located walking distance to the Famous Grand Bazaar, Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia. This location can spare you the headache of taking a taxi. Traffic is literally a nightmare in Istanbul
The hotel is situated almost across the street from the Grand Bazaar and within walking distance of many of the historical sites, including the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, etc etc. Hotel is clean and efficient and provides free use of the business center. Only problem with the hotel (and this applies to most of Istanbul) is that there is hardly any English spoken by the staff!
The hotel was nice but had a few flaws. first, do not eat the breakfast buffet, extremely over priced. They also keep the building very warm by not running the a/c too much.
The hotel was in a great location to be close to the Grand Bazar and most of the tourist sights. The hotel was clean and comfortable. I thought the prices for dinner and lunch were extrememly high up stairs, but there are plenty of restaraunts in walking distance. The staff was very friendly and helped with directions any time we asked for them. Would stay again.
Very good location walking distrance to most main tourists attraction venue. Overall attractive hotel except for room 219 WIFI can barely have any reception and one particular security can't even speaks English.
good location and quite, a walking distance from most of tourist locations, clean, acceptable break fast, and acceptable service some days they switch of the AC so it was terrable night
the location was great the hotel was not comfort , noisy
very kind and polited staff! very good service and good price/value ratio! I am very satisfied!
staff was helpful and smiling, except those of the dining room that smelled of sweat. I didn't like that everything was alleyways, dirty. the bathroom had just shower into the wall. I had salt water in the sink
The stuff is very, very helpful and friendly, the hotel is well located in front of the mosque and quite near to Istanbul University and historical Sultanahmet area. It's not too big, not crowded and noisy that sometimes can happen during high season. The minibar was empty, but's not a problem to buy some beverages to take away in the hotel's restaurant in the groundfloor that's open 24 hours. To my mind the breakfast was quite frugal.
Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Air-conditioner was not working very well.
The rooms were clean but very small bathrooms are tinyyyy ... First off they wanted to charge 30 lira for a swim now come on u pay for ur hotel u dont expect to pay to use the pool .. The food was cold .. i got and when i gave it back to them they put the chips in the microwave with the sauce on it was horrible .. The bar closed early one night so u had to go to the restaurant area for ur drinks ... now i have to say the staff were very nice and friendly these things that happened were not there fault ..
it was comfortable u had to pay to use there swimming pool which is madness u pay enough to stay in the place .. bar closed one oof the nights had to use restaurant area
The staff could not do enough for us. It was a great location for the grand bazaar. Lovely rooftop pool. Local restaurants were cheap and had an excellent array of local food and a taxi to Taxsim was £3 each way.
We thank You for visiting yours Hotel Zurich Istanbul. Family Laakso from Finland (with in Istanbul 50`th birtday spended "old papa") is very satisfied excpeccelly for Your hospitality. You are very welcome to Finland! no
It was conveniently located, breakfast included. Room was spacious and comfortable. Some concern about the safety of the metal strip holding the shower screen onto the bath. A slip whilst getting out of the bath and falling spreadeagled onto that sharp metal would be a horrible fall.
The breakfast and service in hotelroom I found the hotel staff not very kind
the room very small
The spa facilities were reasonable and the food at the roadside cafe was OK! The hotel staff were friendly but very few could speak English. Dirty rooms, no one could speak English, same pathetic breakfast menu for four days, too expensive for a four start hotel, if one could only imagine how small the rooms were... Never seen such small rooms in my life where you cannot even walk or put your bags and yet you are paying through your nose... had to cut short my stay as I did not want to ruin my holiday completely:-(( Requested for an iron which was denied, No activities for kids at all and no cartoon channels.... A complete no no!
The pool/plunge pool terrace areas were very welcoming after a hot/busy day sightseeing. The staff, especially the small older gentleman (sorry can't remember his name) were very attentive. The disco drinks were very expensive, and we would not recommend people to use it on our experience.
in wep Hotel room v big but room are so small .next time i dont want to stay in this hotel Room
Nothing Everything. Room standard - maximum 3 stars. Very hard and uncomfortable beds. Very small bathroom. Internet conection very slow and disapearing periodically for 1-2 hours. Impossible to pay by credit card - I gave two different card to the staff in the reception, but finally I had to withdraw money fro ATM - 200 m. fasr from the hotel. Very problematic to receive invoice with company name.
Its location, sevice, faciliteis and its friendly staff The veiw of his room
The breakfast is good, room service is qweek. Standart room very small, durk and old.
Excellent value for money - great buffet breakfast - convient for shopping, opposite Grand Bazaar
A pleasant, modern boutique style hotel. Very helpful, friendly staff who tried to assist with all our requests. Restaurant very good with an excellent view of the city and a good selection of food. Accommodation in the standard double room was not spacious but very comfortable and we would stay there again.
The room was spacious, an upgrade, very quiet and clean
Close to the Grand Bazaar and Blue Mosque The "no smoking" room smelled of smoke
nice comfortable hotel, great location.staff is friendly and helpfull. Location is excellent, very close to the old city - Grand Bazaar area - and tramway very close
We had a problem with noise from the Restaurant across the road from Hotel. The Manager moved us immediately we complained. The roof terrace pool although small was very welcome in the heat. Nice seating area on the roof as well. In an up and coming area with lots of very reasonable family run restaurants. About 10-15 minutes walk to main old Town. Breakfast could be improved. Fresh juice, turkish yogurt and fresh fruit.
Rooms were comfortable, and clean.Staff were helpfull. Gym was too small, with no air con.Couldnt take bottle of water to outdoor pool, had to buy it at pool bar, which was more than double the price.
Last week (01.aug.09-06.aug.09) I stayed in Vicenza hotel with my husband and our son. All compliments first of all to the property and second to the stuff of this hotel. Excellent location, modern design, exceptionally clean rooms and bathrooms, are some of the major points of this hotel. On top of the roof is good size swimingpool with comfortable chairs and umbrellas and it is free for the guest of the hotel. Our room was looking on street, but at night we did not hear any voices. Air condition was working perfectly and coming from outside to our room was like a heaven. Stuff of the hotel, including General Manager and F&B managers were very pleasant and helpful..for exp. to call us a taxi, explain how to get to, where to bay etc. We specially enjoyed seating in the bar/restaurant area in small garden and having our lunch there. Food was excellent kind of Turkish test with French presentation. So I will strongly recommend this hotel to future traveler to Istanbul
I stayed in this hotel for 4 night, one night on my own and 3 nights with brother and sister, everyone rude in this hotel, your friend can't come evern to hotel lobby! Breakfast was poor and I found hair in my food, when I told them they didn't even said sorry!!! They said there is an free internet but there is no good connection so you can't do anything with and when I come to reception they said there is paid one which was 3 euro for half an hour but it was exectly the same and they didn't give my money back or say anything!! Th ere was nothing 4 star in this hotel! I will not recommend to anyone!
Hotel was situated in the old part of Istanbul and within easy walking distance of the Blue Mosque, the Grand Bazaar, the Topkapi Palace and shops and restaurants. The hotel itself was fully booked but quiet and the rooftop swimming pool was a boon. Only one minor point - no tea or coffee making facilities in the room although room service was available.
The hotel room was spacious and considering the room was for 3 people I was very impressed. The pool on the roof was a bonus and I would definitely stay there again.
Helpful staff and hotel in great location for Old city and shopping etc.Very clean and comfortable.
Good service from the man in the reception who spoke English - really serviceminded and helpful. Clean rooms, comfortable beds. It was very bad that almost none of the staff spoke english. It was impossible to communincate to the waiters in the breakfast restaurant. The food supposed to be warm at breakfast, was at 07.20 hrs cold. Not good. And I wpuld really have liked fresh juice for breakfast- that would get you happier guests.
Some of staff were very friendly, smiling and helpful. I felt from them real service-orientation. Some staff members have a hard time to smile, many cannot speak English. Rooms are very small.
A clean, recently renovated hotel. A very good value for money. The hotel is close to Historical Sites and the famous Grand Bazaar...
Nice location and just a couple of minutes walk down the road to the tram stop. Few stops away from the Blue Mosque and other tourist attractions. Very nice reception and bar area, breakfast room. Neither the reception, hall or even the breakfast room were air- conditioned and in Istanbul in August this is a real issue. The breakfast (milk, fruit, meat, etc) was really warm because of this - not pleasant at all. All areas in the hotel very nice, but the room itself would need some diy - fix the carpet, paint the walls, fix the fridge, etc. Sadly the room was disappointing.
Good location and coutious staff. Nothing special
I clearly requested a non smoking room and I got all but it
Location was ok not so close to aksaray tram but manageable by walk, staff are good, breakfast not much variety, rooms are clean
Good location. Friendly staff. Orange juice not included in breakfast. I had to pay us$ 5 extra for a glass of juice. WiFi internet acess extremely slow.
My staying in Carlton Hotel was wonderful. The staff was good and friendly. The room was big enough and comfortable. Breakfasts were excellent with good variety of dishes. The location of Carlton Hotel is excellent both for people who come for shopping or with commercial purposes and people who come to Istanbul for historical sightseeing. I enjoyed my staying in Carlton Hotel very much.
friendliness of staff no internet connection-wifi is great but does every non business traveller carry a laptop or smart phone?
style, comfort, closeness to the sultanahmet area and train line, and the room is clean the hotel is closeby the construction area, especially on the way to train line. lots of dust and noise. however inside the hotel it was queit
It was a great base to explore the city The bar was often left unmaned
the room was spotless and new the staff wasn't frıendly nor helpful. the hotel was hard to fınd, and there was no aırport shuttle, unless we paıd 20 euro per person. the wındow of our room looked out on the hallway of the other sıde of the hotel, wıth an artıfıcıal sky ın the mıddle. the neıghbourhood was dodgy.
Clean hotel with friendly, english speaking personnel. Good location, fine, spacy room and nice renovated swimmingpool. At first the hotelmanager tried to put us in a very small room, but (free) upgrading seemed not to be a problem. The matras of the bed was very bad.
Location. Interior design Even though it was 27 degrees c sun and clear sky in the begining of Oct. They had decided to close the pool. When I complained about of the man in reception ignored me and started taling in the phone
every thing was good, i like it. Nothing
Nice room, good breakfast Sheets not complete and bed not so clean. Airco was pointed right at the bed, so if turned on during the night made you too cold.
location is good and the rooms are clean. For a short stay a good hotel. three person room is very small. for a longer stay there is little comfort. The shower is small and the shower drain is situated on de highest point of the floor.Breakfast is the same everyday.
The room was small but clean and fairly quiet. Breakfasts were hearty, though the dinner menu had no vegetarian options. One staff member was particularly helpful, others were not. I would recommend the hotel, but suggest guests use other resources for info on local services. I left 12 postcards at the desk for mailing and none arrived. Also, staff discouraged the use of public transport, urging me to take taxis (kickbacks?). I ignored them and had a wonderful experience on the buses, subways, ferries & trams.
Location location location!!! No English news channel on TV; Single bed too small.
Personnel is very nice and helpfull. Want to do their utmost best to make it the most pleasant stay for you. Is in a very nice neighboorhood were many trams and buses can be found. Other attractions like Aya Sophia, Topkapi are very near, around 15 minutes walking. Very hot in the room. No clear airco present.
the reception staff the carpet could have been cleaner, the bedswere very hard, very little space and storage and the cleaner came into the room whilst we were there, put the case on the bed and took the case table despite protests - we should have been asked - that was bad! breakfast was boring
good location and walking distance from all sighseeings.if u would like to do just shopping its good location as well coz there is grand bazar and lot of diffrent shops on the streets. room wasnt so small as some people said in rewievs. it was clean, comfortable.getting to this hotel from airport was fast and easy. at the start take a metro to zantinburn station, than get off and change to tram No.38, getting off in Laleli university station and thats it. took max 50min from airport to hotel. the brekfast was good (buffet) however not all of turkish stuff was delicious. but if u re not keen of that u will have other choice thats suits u like tomatoes, cheese, sausiages etc. i would recomend this hotel. the tv was so small and it has only some channels which basicly was in turkish language. so my suggestion- take ur laptop with u. and also some staff wasnt very polite or helpful.
noise, smell, staff
breakfast is good
nothing there was a box hanging from the shower which kick my head several time during one shower . , they stick 2 beds together to make it look like a double bed but after 3 mints sleeping you will be half hanging, i advice you to look back pain medicine when you are back home .. room 210
sound from door
The facilties on offer were excellent and the hotel staff very helpful, we were only there for a short time and did not get the chance to take full advantage of the facilties available such as the pool and spa but was nice to have it there. The breakfast was also very nice. Also the hotel will book a private car for 20 euros and save getting a taxi to airport which can rip you off. This was a great service
The breakfast was great and there were alternatives for everyone. WLAN was accessible from both the ground floor and upper floors (at least 5th). A PC was also freely available to use in the reception (USB and DVD). Close to Aksaray metro station from airport and even closer to the tram going to the old centre. Grand Bazaar in walking distance. Cheap taxis in the street corner. The pool was not included in the room price and it was not mentioned in the web pages, either.
One word amazing
it was amazing the free service room was only for the first night
I thought the hotel was good for the price, the staff were really helpful and the hotel is very close to a tram station. We had room service one night and the food was lovely, I'd definitely stay here again. The hotel was really clean and everything seemed new and well kept. The room was tiny, although I had already seen the reviews before I stayed here so I had expected this. As a guest you can use the pool for free but then you still have to pay for the sauna and hammam, which I didn't really think was fair.
The braekfast was excelent location near to a lot of shoping centers fair price great Staff Small rooms Mini bar is just water and sprite small pool sauna and jacuzi cost 10 $
It's very excelent placement in Aksaray near from historical centre of Isstanbul. It's easy to get to Sultanakhmet by train (15-20 min). There are a small pool, a sayne, a turkish and steam bath in the hotel. We used them.
Good value for money, pool, shuttle to the airport Restaurant staff speaks a poor English, not so big rooms
Cleanliness and overall quality of hotel, Willingness of staff to help serve requirements and great location. Close to tram/metro/bus links around the city. Late night vocal noise outside the hotel.
The buffet breakfast was good, the room was clean, aircon was a godsend and the rooftop pool was amazing.
A large, good located hotel with large rooms. Hotel did not keep up maintenance though. Shower was broken and many broken lamps not replaced. Breakfast room shabby. Staff not friendly. Instead of a warm welcome, the first question was: when are you going to pay? Near the swimming pool area there was no staff to help you or even bring a drink. No service at all.
food Cleanliness of your room weak
Hotel is on excellent place in "hart" of old Istanbul, very near to the Kapali charsia (Grand Bazar) and Blue Monk, Aya Sofia etc. (all by walk from hotel)
The reception staff were very helpful and the location was good for walking or tram to the main sights. The ensuit bathroom was not that clean and smelt. The room did not get cleaned while we were there.
Receptionists were particularly helpful, especially Mr Levent. Some of the hotel quests were somewhat pushy and arrogant
Staying in Hamidiye Hotel was good if i can see it from the location side, as it is in a walking distance to the most famous touristic places, city center and transportations. The hotel was so noisy, the stuff are just doing their job, not helpfull at all.
Big hotel, 200+ rooms; larger than average rooms, at least my 2 person room was; good breakfast; free wifi; good location not far from Aksaray tram station. It has an outdoors swimming pool, but it was not in use since it was winter. Some room facilities need updating, it is not a new hotel, airco and refrigerator did not work, shower and tv need replacement. Very busy breakfast area, during my breakfast I saw in total more than 200 people there, whereas in other hotels I stayed at, one could see 10 to 30 people, but there was no queue, because the hall can accommodate large number of guests. The hotel hallways need more lighting.
The room was big and hadn´t annoyance of other guests, mainly Russians. Good beds. The breakfast was poorly even to Turkish standards. The shower in our room was not more then a drizzle. The hotel in general needs a serious overhaul.
they need to take care of rooom cleanliness
kind staff, safety, clean old plumbing into the bathroom
Good Hotel and good priece!
hotel is centrally located with easy access to tram and metro for moving about economically.
The hotel is located closed to the central part and most of the sights. Esp. the Grand Bazar. The stars should be maximum 2. The rooms are not well isolated. The price is high and they need total repairment.
it was a great localisation near to the tram and the bleue mosquee
Clean. Reasonably modern. Extensive breakfast buffet. Hotel ideally situated for visiting the historical sites on foot or by tram.
great location and silence room
i liked the size of the room and they offer for me some fruits after i get the room. no
central location, near the tram & bus station, good breakfast, good air conditioning, small room but comfortable. no wireless internet conection in the room, parking place was very far from the hotel and it costs 10 E per day.
fast, free wifi - uncomfortable bed which moved around on wheels, also staff charged an exorbitant rate when exchanging the euro booking fee into lira. Make sure you have Euro's on hand to pay in cash rather than get ripped off this way.
