6.7 Good
Pros: The resort was very clean and staff very helpful.
Cons: The charge for any extra items such as lockers, gaming, reactivation of wands previously purchased for magic quest, basically everything had an upcharge. A family of 4 doesn't normally spend close to $500 a night for Kansas City KS location.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! So well organized and can be geared for all ages! Great stay!
Cons: Nothing .... a was great!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Lots of things to do for kids. Nice indoor water park. Nice restaurants on site. Lots of things to do in the area.
Cons: Room A/C was noise.
9.0 Excellent
Cons: It would be wonderful if they offered some kind of free breakfast and the food was not so expensive
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything in the hotel is specialized making sure the kids have a good time. It was so wonderful!
Cons: The beds were not comfortable at all.
6.7 Good
Pros: The waterpark was fun. The activities for the kiddos were great! We loved the slides the most.
Cons: There was mold on the Frigidaire air conditioning upstairs. The room smelled of vomit when first entering. After a bottle of febreeze the smell got better. The prices in the restaurant were steep for breakfast. I was looking forward to a massage but they no longer have a spa. Sorry moms.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Everything is one place
Cons: The prices are so high we have to bring our own food and drink. Also how can you be overbooked every night? I had to stay in a room with no shower, no TV, and a leaking faucet because they allow overbooking and it always ruins someone's weekend.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Room was spacious.
Cons: Check in was at 4pm, 2 of our 3 rooms were not ready until 7pm! Extremely overpriced for what it was. Refused to give us any money back for the delay in our rooms, gave us a scoop of ice cream instead. Will definitely never go back.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, lots to do with a toddler.
Cons: Room was adequate but nothing special. Probably needs updating soon. Noise level from people in room above walking around really sucked.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the water park, and the activities for the kids throughout the day/ night. the beds and rooms were very clean! the complimentary wolf ears for the kids.
Cons: The cost of food and beverages. how cold the hallways were. and the fact that we checked out of our room at 11am, went to swim until 12pm turned in all towels at 12pm and were charged $60 for towels. maybe should wait 24 hours after check out to charge guests for little things like that. especially when they were returned.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was friendly for the most part. The young lady Tailly was amazing. She was dressed in a fairy costume and super knowledgeable. She helped us understand the quest adventure. She worked in the shop on the third level. The cashier, Gentleman in the store on the second level was so kind and helpful too. And the young ladies in the coffee shop were so nice. So many nice young people in the arcade, swimming pool. Also the story teller and the wolf person in costume. Over all an amazing time my 2 year old, granddaughter had. And that is what matters most to us.
Cons: Wear and tear in the room. Some staff members where not to knowledgeable. Or friendly but people are human and maybe they were just having an off moment.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The front desk person was very nice. The room was very clean, looked brand new and the waterpark area was great! I loved how they had lifeguards. Our experience was GREAT!!

5.0 Okay
Pros: The hotel was in a safe, quiet location.
Cons: The hall reeked of marijuana, the hot tub had mold all around the drain, and the breakfast wasn't very good. The room was okay, but when your eleven-year-old asks you if the hotel is "cheap", you know it's subpar.
10.0 Excellent

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was outstanding! So many delicious choices. Every staff member I spoke to was very friendly and I felt very welcome. The workout room was very nice too. In spite of my facility critique, I will most definitely stay here when I return to Kansas City!
Cons: The elevator carpet needs to be replaced. There were several carpet stains in my room. When I looked under the bed before I checked out there was a toothbrush and a grocery bag full of nonperishable food from a prior guest. Lastly, the cold water didn't work in the bathroom sink...just a trickle. Only an issue for brushing teeth.
6.0 Good
Pros: It was quiet didn't hear noise from hall
Cons: Bathtub had hair in it .toilet was dirty around bolts . No heat in bathroom.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice rooms, breakfast and great hospitality.
Cons: The pillows weren't that great.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, friendly staff, nice room.
Cons: I don't like the fee they add to your credit card when you check in.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean property. Nice rooms. Friendly staff especially Pat the bartender.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I love the variety of themed rooms and how decked out they are!!! Staff was great, breakfast was great!!!
7.0 Good
Pros: Wonderful staff- very friendly.
Cons: Bar was not open during our stay. Need a Coffee bar please. Should have water bottles for guest. The drink vending machines were empty.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a very charming and unique stay the a/c was broken in the room we booked the staff took care of it immediately and gave us an upgraded room for our troubles. They bent over backwards to ensure we were pleased with our stay.
Cons: Their was nothing I could complain about it was perfect
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very nice. They had drivers take you around the area. Room was very clean. The bar was great.
Cons: The biscuits and gravy tasted really bad. It would also be good to put all the amenities you offer in the rooms.
6.0 Good
Pros: The hot tub in the room was amazing. I was sore but I brought bath bombs and it was wonderful. The bath robes made me want to steal one- so I googled them and figured out that they're like $90 bath robes, so that makes sense. Spa was nice. I always think massages are overpriced, so there's no use in asking me about that. My husband and I got a couple's massage. The masseuses were great. I expected a little better of a "spa" given the Avalon's reputation. It was essentially a converted extra space. The barTENDER is awesome. They're doing the right thing regarding oppening up some more space for him because he draws people who aren't even staying there. He's friendly, sharp, personable, witty and fun to be around. His drinks are amazing. I didn't know what I wanted, but somehow, he did!
Cons: The bedroom was tiny (Colorado Experience). There wasn't enough room to walk between the wall and the foot of the bed without turning sideways. There was no fan in the room of any sort. There was only one bedside table on the far side, so we had to leave everything on one side, which meant my husband and I had to switch our usual sleeping positions. My impression is that the more expensive rooms are probably nicer, but we wanted something kinda bougie without getting ridiculous. Will probably go back in Nov and try again, maybe, for their veterans/1st responders/etc appreciation special. Maybe. The breakfast was.... bad. Mine was... ok? I had the biscuit and gravy, and a weird-tasting sausage patty. My husband got an $11 egg brulee type thing which, for $11 one would have expected more than about half a cup of egg and sausage. Don't eat breakfast at CA, get it somewhere else.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: The room was a lot of fun! We didn't know what we were getting going in, which made stepping into the Egyptian Palace room all the better. The hot tub and bed were extremely comfortable. Room was clean and well put together, and the staff were very accomodating.
Cons: The bathtub had a persistent drip and, due to full bookings, we were not able to move to another room. However, we received a complimentary breakfast and the staff made sure that the water was relatively unobtrusive.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The Serengeti room was what we selected. It was clean and definitely nicely themed. They offer a decently priced, multiple choice, room service breakfast, for a decent price. **Get the cinnamon rolls** You'll thank me later!! Staff was great, check in was easy. Housekeeping seemed a bit afraid to clean the room, but to be honest,I can only imagine what they have seen, lol.
Cons: In room there is no coffee maker or microwave. A "side of the road" motel has them in the room,so I would have thought the same for an expensive hotel. Breakfast was good, however semi-warm on arrival. If you are staying on a Saturday night expect to only be able to fill the jacuzzi one time with hot water. We tried to fill it to run the Jets with some disinfectant (better safe than sorry) and after that,we no longer had hot water, just warm. But the following day, non-issue.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a unexpected fun theme room , we had a great time .
Cons: Nothing it was a great romantic time
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The fantasy like themes
Cons: Hard to find
5.7 Okay
Pros: The staff. Pat the bartender was amazing!
Cons: Carpets need replaced rooms need painted and deep cleaned, and updated

Pros: The bed was exceptionally comfortable. Breakfast was delicious! So convenient to KU Med Center and great restaurants.

Pros: Bed and linens like heaven
Cons: Only one recycle thing: I was told that the door key cards get recycled. Nothing for cans. All food serving items were styrofoam and plastic. Very wasteful. Pros: Everything was very clean and casual. The staff was always very friendly. We didn't realize that breakfast ended at 9 a.m. on weekdays because it ended at 10a.m. all weekend. We went down for breakfast with my 3 children at 9:15 and they were finishing closing everything up. A woman, I imagine the manager, stopped us from going back up and said she could still get us some breakfast. She insisted we got food and helped my kids make plates. It was so kind and the kids were very happy because they were not in the mood to get dressed and go to another restaurant! To me that was above and beyond and a great way to end our stay.
4.5 Okay
Pros: I liked the layout of the rooms.
Cons: When we checked in, “Mark” was just plain rude. Although Hilton Honors booked us here as a “family friendly and pet friendly” location, it was neither. Upon checkin I was informed of a $145 NON REFUNDABLE PET FEE. This was more than the room itself. The guy checking us in was not helpful or friendly and put us in the wrong room. So we had to come back down to resolve that. I travel 120 nights a year and Im a Hilton Honors member. Ive never written a bad review - but this location earned it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Always pleasant and informative staff. Faculty and rooms are clean. Great breakfast. Stayed here more than once and it's always fantastic.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I really loved how clean and new the facility was. And I loved the kitchenette in the room

7.0 Good
Pros: I did like the open floor plan in our room along with the 3 tv's. The bathroom was nice as well as the soap's provided! Breakfast was yummy too!
Cons: We used booking.com and the tax rate wasn't correct. Also whomever stayed above us was very loud all night, and up at 5am with the same noise. Around the same time our heater started buzzing, which was a shame because I was looking forward to sleeping in. Also the Keurig did not work in our room, fortunately there was coffee at the breakfast.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We liked the long bench in room for a place to put luggage. Like the shampoo, conditioner and body dispensers in the shower now! Like the new window shades-kept out the lights at night and then got to see the beautiful sunrise the next morning. Breakfast was great. Also really like the Keurig, frig and microwave in the room too!
Cons: Don’t know how often the rugs in entrance and on the floors get vacuumed-but they sure needed it Friday when we checked in. Saw a friendly guy mopping Saturday morning so cleaning was getting started.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good
Cons: Wasnt anything we didnt like

Pros: Check in was a breeze as the staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable. The pool and hot tub were at perfect temperatures and just what we needed after a long day. Breakfast was complimentary and the coffee was hot.
Cons: The only thing we didn’t like about this hotel is the fact that they didn’t have any water bottles in vending, or in the entire building for that matter. We had to get refreshments from the local gas station.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The front desk staff was awesome and so kind! The pool wasn’t huge but a good size for the kids. Loved the 2 Queen and Sofa bed option in the room. Not very many hotels have that! My kids loved the pancake maker at breakfast!
Cons: There weren’t really any cons. It was a good value for the price I paid.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location. Quiet. Good bed. Room was a little small.
Cons: Could easily hear the people upstairs walking around.

8.0 Excellent

7.0 Good
Pros: It was quiet with comfortable beds

Pros: Cleanliness and location
5.0 Okay
Pros: STAFF WAS VERY NICE AND HELPFUL. HOTEL VERY CLEAN.BREAKFAST WAS REALLY GOOD.

1.0 Poor
Pros: The location for us was the best. Our friends were staying at the best western and it was within walking distant.

The American Motel will help you feel connected while away from home and maintain a balance of work and life. Located conveniently right off Interstate I-70, the American Motel is just a short drive to all the hot spots of Kansas City.
6.0 Good
Pros: Clean room. Staff excelent.
Cons: Beds were hard. Hurt my hips.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Easy access to freeway.
Cons: One shouldn't have to clear their own toilet with a plunger when staying at a hotel.
5.4 Okay
Pros: People working at American Inn were nice & breakfast lady did a good job with asking for the voucher we had to have to eat, her name was Peggy & she did a great job with keeping the breakfast area very appealing.
Cons: The check-in lady had to check us in behind plexi-glass - not a good sign, also products were lined up for sale & a resident was collecting mail when we arrived - permanent residents felt like it was an apt complex rather than a hotel. Also I was nearly robbed at 7am on check-out day, my my husband had left to get car ready, when a stranger kept knocking, I had just stepped into the bathroom & couldn’t open the door - if I had who knows what he would have done, after banging on the door 4x he left, also my husband returned. Bonus on crime element - 2 young men with back-packs hung out by front door & back - looking like they were bored = maybe look outs for guest like us?

Cons: It looked a little shady - with the reception area behind bullet-proof glass.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Price
Cons: Each room had something broken in it.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Best thing I can say is the price. We got tickets last minute for NASCAR race so booked last minute. Price was half of next available motel. Motel was five minutes from track. Staff was friendly.
Cons: TV did not work. Staff said it was a cable service outage. Shower water pressure was very low. No hair dryer. No shampoo. You could purchase a small bottle at desk for $1.00.
