The Lake District is an absolutely beautiful area with many outdoor activities.
The Castle Inn is old and in dire need of refurbishment. Our room was dirty ( there was an old hairbrush under the edge of the bed) and the bathroom sink didn't drain. The mirror in the bathroom was so low, all you could see was the area from your neck to your waist. The flight of stairs leading to the room was so narrow, you had to turn your foot on an angle to go up or down. The room appeared to be a converted attic. During our stay, the fire alarm went off several times at 10:30pm at night. We jumped out of bed to see what was happening. At no time did the staff speak to us or alert us to the situation. I would not stay there again and I would not recommend this hotel to others.
The hotel was easy to find the staff were excellent as was the food and facilities its location was great for touring the area
Staff were very pleasant and the facilities were good. Also the hotel was situated in a good area
For the price the food was very average.
We booked a double room, but had a nice suprise when we arrived as we had been upgraded to a family room, which was like a small apartment with large bedroom and bathroom and a sitting room. The views were lovely over the lake and hills . A lovely place to getaway from it all .

We enjoyed the pool, and spa facilities. The food was excellent.
We were hoping for a room with a good view, instaed we overlooked the car park and as the hotel was not very busy we thought we could have had a better room.
Set in the calming shadow of England's highest fells, overlooking Bassenthwaite Lake, Castle Inn Hotel, BW Signature Collection is the ideal location to explore the northern region of the Lake District. From the mysterious trails through Dodd Wood to the glorious views of the surrounding countryside, we can safely say that all rooms come with a view! Add to that more local points of interest like a nesting site of the beautiful Osprey or the majestic Skiddaw Mountain, and you'll be hard pushed to find many better settings for a truly relaxing retreat. there really is something for everyone to enjoy! Our extensive leisure and conference facilities add another dimension to this excellent accommodation, while easy motorway access makes anything possible as far as getting out and about (and beyond) is concerned.
