Only the food was a bad point the worst we have had anywhere
Very memorable. Superb building, more like a home than a hotel, great staff, excellent food, amazing setting...a very enjoyable experience.
The peace and comfort of the hotel and the surrounding grounds.
I have been to many hotels over the years, but i have never found one that makes you feel relaxed as soon as you enter the front door, as the Roxburghe hotel did. The staff and everything about the place made you relax, a truly wonderful experience
The room we had at the weekend was lovely and secluded - just what we wanted Nothing
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent.
Very relaxed old style comfort. Staff well trained and went out of their way to make guests feel at ease. Should have proper internet access.
Friendly warm inviting - excellent food and facilities
Excellent location for a fishing lesson at the Centre of Excellence with Eion Fairgreives I think the wine price list is expensive and a £25 bottle of Pinot Noir, although drinkable, probably should have been replaced
clean room, fantastic view, friendly service, lovely bathroom with plenty of hot water toast burnt, not much choice in room for tea/coffee - no herbal teas or hot chocolate
the room was neat and tidy and warm the onsuit bathroom was top class the food was good and to high standard the room we were given was classed as a superior double room i would say it was neither off these as there was no chair to sit on the bed all but filled the room a single bed would have been more suited to the room size after my visit to the place last year i commented on the family pets at meal times nothing has changed in that respect
Quiet location. Friendly hosts. Bedroom very small and only a velux window which could not be opened. Very stuffy and uncomfortable as the weather was warm.
was placd in the self catering wing , so had best of both made breakfast in the morning and own private seating area at night more control needs to be taken with the family pets during meal times as sme may not like dogs /cats
Owners friendly and helpful. Very clean throughout. Breakfast choice and quality excellent. None
Very good friendly family run B & B.
Good food with wine at a fair price. Freindly owners. No
Our room was compact and the en-suit bathroom very nice and clean. The breakfast was very good. Teh farm is well situated for our trip discovering Hadrian's wall.
Friendly welcome, great breakfast, quality furnishings.
Pleasant surroundings One hour from sitting down to dinner until food served
Fantastic Food, friendly helpful staff. Although a little small, the room was well furnished, and very comfortable.
The evening meal was first class as was the breakfast. We also really liked the position of the hotel across from the village green. We found the bed in the lovely bedroom a little too soft for our tastes but this is no-one's fault but rather our own need for a firmer mattress.
Convenient for visit to area Food not up to expectation, dissapointing menu
Pleasant ambience with comfortable bedroom and evidence of recent refurbishment, good sporting or entertaining locus with decent food and wine.
The food Service slightly slow
Lovely room and very pleasant staff. Good food. The room decorated with fish wallpaper!!!
Food and freindliness not applicable
Situated on the main road of quiet village, a first class hotel in which to celebrate that special occasion. 2AA Rosettes breakfast menu too! As the hotel name suggests, the focus is on the à la carte restaurant rather than holidaying guests. Small off-road car parking area.
Lovely unspoilt village location, like stepping back in time. A warm welcome and friendly staff and 'locals'. Very rural but still within easy reach of local sites and attractions.
Friendly helpful staff, Good food Decor needs some updating
Welcoming friendly landlord, comfortable village pub, serving very good food. Spacious bedroom.
Friendly atmosphere and food to a good standard. Mattress uncomfortable
A peaceful and pleasant stay in a very quiet village well off the beaten track
Friendly staff. Bar downstairs was fairly nosiy until late.
really friendly staff..excellent food, huge portions and real vegetables, not reheated.good range of drinks nothing
Friendly staff, and the food was good. The room was not as described (recently refurbished)it was very tired and jaded! Only one bath towel & one hand towel had been left out...no toilet paper the mattress was lumpy and did not fit the bed. Also the bar area was very smelly, the general cleanliness of the hotel was not very good.
Comfortable, warm, pub atmosphere
Freindly atmosphere, food and real ale
A very basic hotel.
the location was good for the walks we did,the friendliness of the staff and it was good value for money. the hotel was basic but clean
The only point I would like to make while having a drink in the bar a member of staff was on the phone taking a booking read out the bookings bank details within hearing of people in the bar including long number secutity num on back of card andexp date
It was a pleasant hotel and you got what you paid for. A fair price I had a room above the kitchen so I was woken up really early every morning with screaming staff
I liked the friendleness of the staff who were always ready to help. I also liked the food, the cosiness and the small friendly bar. Rooms were a bit small but I realise this is an old building and although small they were adequate. Certainly cosy and clean.
The staff and the locals were very friendly and could nt do enough for us and we were late for breakfast but still cooked for us!
Friendly customers in the bar. Ability to take dog in the bar as well as the room No food in the evening. Room very small. Inconsiderate guests next door! Exactly the same as our last stay when kept awake most of the night.
Breakfast was good and staff friendly Room and bar area in desperate need of upgrading and decorating. Simply redecorating would not be enough!
The room had a hair dryer, iron, table top ironing board, three different types of cofee and best of all a decent size cup to drink it from!! The bathroom had plenty of bath foam, shampoo and soap. The breakfast was excellent, everything you could want even Pro-biotic drinks. Very good value for money.
Friendliness of the staff
An old fashioned hotel in a sleepy market town. Lovely rural area convenient for Northumberland coast. Value for money and an excellent breakfast. The fittings may seem tired but the friendliness of the staff and the in room facilities cannot be faulted. Attached Italian restaurant was good value. We would use again if the occasion arose.
the food was very good very shabby and in need of decorating .Our room was ok but old furniture. No personal service so could,nt tell you who the owners were.
The bedroom was obviously newly decorated with a lovely colour scheme and very clean. The bed was very comfortable. The location of the hotel is ideal for either visiting local attractions or walking on the Cheviot Hills. The weather was warmer than the welcome we received! Despite the bedroom being newly decorated and well presented the bathroom however was a different matter. The shower didn't work, taps were so tarnished they appeared grey instead of brass. The finish around the bath was rough and the silicone sealant was black with mildew. Such a shame when the bedroom was so lovely.
Location Bedroom decor very old fashioned. No shower facility, only low shower available for hair washing.
The hotel was clean and comfortable with a nice market town atmosphere. lack of a shower in bathroom was disappointing. The church clock chiming the hours all night kept me awake; should be switched off during night. The attached Milan restaurant was excellent for value and food quality -a real find!.
Nice comfortable room and beds. Good, substantial breakfast. Nice clean hotel, with character. After closing time, 11.00 pm, there was a lot of noise from young and I assume drunk, people outside in the street. This was the case on all three nights, which included Monday and Tuesday. Monday night it was centred on the Red Lion, over the road. Tuesday night was worse, with young women shouting from the middle of the road. The noise continued after 12.30 am. Can you do anything about this problem for future customers?
Staff and the food was very good, as was the location and the parking. Full of character. The shower room we had was far too small.
The small bed in the room was terrible, my wife likes to sleep separately but it kept her awake most of the night, it was noisy and she could feel the springs, it even woke me when she turned over, very disappointing.
